Title: Is this a backup site? (Warning! if not) Post by: kingaltcoins on January 21, 2016, 09:40:13 PM Recently when I was searching for some bitcoin related threads on google I saw in search results a similar thread starting with the domain name fanbitcoin.com
I also noticed that the site automatically converted the bitcointalk.org related links to fanbitcoin.com related links. This made me feel suspicious about it and so I am asking here. Is that site a backup of this one just like bitcointa.lk? or is it a scam site trying to steal passwords? Title: Re: Is this a backup site? There are several of the same sort of thing around the web. As previously said I wouldn't recommend logging in, but using it for viewing purposes is completely fine.

I think that most of these sites copy bitcointalk.org's content so that they can confuse Google into showing their results high-up sometimes, and then they either have ads to make money off of this, or they operate as phishing sites. Cannot they be taken down by DMCA because an average person may try inputting their login ids there instead of the main site. Specially when they are accessing from their mobile phones it will camouflage with the actual site and in a hurry he or she might input their login ids. :-\ |
