Title: FRC exchange!
Post by: Bowjob on January 01, 2013, 09:53:42 AM
All right, let's set up an exchange system here.

This thread is for buying or selling FRC. No drama. Trolls shall be shunned!

I'll consider buying a huge stash of FRC.

for 5000 FRC would you consider 100 LTC?
Don't be afraid to counter offer.

I appreciate your offer but I don't have that big of an FRC stash. I mined with a GTX 580 when the difficulty was low enough to get a thousand or so. Thanks though.

@nethead Thanks! I want to go over 10k LTC that's why I'm doing this lol. :3

Yes just for fun, i dont think anyone will take those :)
According to this:

Quote
Buyer pays actual shipping from USA (in freicoins, 185frc / $1.00).

by maaku(from another thread), 1000 FRC actually "cost" 0.4-0.5 btc, so i will keep them some time more unless someone wants them at my price :)

Bid/Ask at beginning of thread was B:0.5 | A:1.0  (BTC per 1K FRC)
Now it is B:0.2 | A: 0.3

How low can it go? Think we will see 0.1 per 1K by the end of the week?
The good news for the "foundation" is that even at 0.1 per 1K their 80M FRC is worth > $100K USD.

The good news for the "foundation" is that even at 0.1 per 1K their 80M FRC is worth > $100K USD.

If you parse a bit more closely you will see that nothing was executed at 1/1000. I was throwing that (FRC sell order) out as a first attempt to set a value and get some trade going. Within a day I was buying at 0.1/1000, then it progressed to 0.2, 0.25, 0.3, 0.31, and 0.4/1000 as the difficulty increased. My line for buying is currently around 0.3/1000.

Most transactions I'm seeing are still in the 0.3-0.4 range, and the general pressure seems to be up, not down.

Granted, a lot of value is on the speculation side, but we've seen a few sale transactions flowing at the same rates.

Maybe it will drop to 0.1 as the buzz dies down, but as long as folks are selling at "cost of mining" type numbers with the difficulty where it is or higher, I doubt it.

Something else you might want also have backwards, what if the foundation coins are used in a way that increases the value of FRC? If real world use drives the price up to $.01/FRC we would have a very robust network of subsidized miners and $1M market cap. It's nice that the foundation coins might be worth something, but converting them on an exchange to fund a project is being frowned upon pretty hard in the governance thread. The best uses for FRC will not rely on it's (arbitrary) value as defined on this thread, but will create value themselves by enabling a community.

I'm actually pretty pleased I got within an order of magnitude on my first try, I'd like to challenge you to do better on the next alt-coin of interest.

Title: Re: FRC exchange!
Post by: bushstar on January 07, 2013, 07:22:45 PM
I'd say Scrybe set the initial price of FRC for all.

Whatever the next alt-coin is I sincerely doubt it will get anywhere near the level of interest of FRC. I'm still looking forward to playing with it. I love all the alt-coins and would love to see MicroCash come out.

Never seen that before.  Wonder what would cause that.  Possible I sent it at the exact same moment the block was found?  I'll be interested to see if it gets 1 confirm, while the other two transfers get 2 confirm in the next block.

Edit:  Yep that's what happened.  2, 2, 1 confirmations for the three transactions on the next block.

Maybe you're confusing the reference block of the transaction with the block it got into the chain?

Each transaction contains a reference block that is used to calculate the demurrage. I'm not sure that's what is happening but since this is different from bitcoin, it may be confusing to unaware users.

I think you are confused.

1 confirm = "Included in a block"
2 confirms = a block found after the block the tx was included in.
3 confirms = 2 blocks found after the block the tx was included in.
....
n confirms = n-1 blocks found after the block the the tx was included in.

jtimon had it right.  I didn't double check what jjimm_64 said, and just assumed they were in the same block. He was looking at the "reference block" instead of the block in which the transactions were included in.  And then I just explained my thoughts poorly in the followup post lol.

Good trade with dego.  Now selling 30k FRC @ .3 BTC per 1k.

Ill take em

30k sold to jjimm_64.  Great trade.

yes..  interestingly, even tho 3 10k's were all in block 14588, only 2 confirmed in the next block..

And then I just explained my thoughts poorly in the followup post lol.

sorry bout that guys, i was just about to state more clearly that it was the reference block, before any confirmations.

still it was interesting that only 2 were confirmed in the 'first' next block.  All 3 confirmed OK :)

galambo: Kudos for being willing to overpay based on an earlier commitment

selling frc, 0.1644 btc/frc

Explanation for my price is:
On their site it mentions that in 10 years 1 frc may have $100 value
So, it gains 10$ (hypothetically) every year. Its life till now is 2-3 months

So we get to:
(100$/10years)/12months = 0,83$ gained value for each passed month * 3 months current life = 2.49 $ per frc
-5% today's value as per their explanation = 2.3655 $ per frc

2.36$ == 0.1644BTC @ current rate  8)

Note: By their calculations it also gains 0.27$ (or 1.55mbtc) each passed day

I know this is a joke, but I want to be clear. Nowhere on the Freicoin website is any projection of the future value of Freicoin. Freicoin is an experimental cryptocurrency with no value. The only way you can obtain Freicoin is by "mining" it, or by buying it directly from a miner. No automated exchanges exist and any value attributed to Freicoin is derived from personal speculation.

Not sure why but that exchange does not seem to get any real volume on any currency. Perhaps the two-factor authentication puts people off due to confusion!

Exciting times, FRC difficulty is about to go down by times four. Hopefully after which FRC can join in on the recent surge in alt-coins.

I can't remember the name on here of the guy that's opening it, but he's pretty much said he plans to welcome most alt-coins to that exchange.  https://www.crypto-trade.com/  According to the website (which I think is down right at this moment), it is going to open on April 2nd.  He's had a demo site up that looks absolutely great.  I'm really looking forward to it.

Good to see the miners back on Freicoin. The hashrate has gone down a bit so hopefully the difficulty will not get so high again next time. With a high but not crippling difficulty, miners can still work and we can keep trading. It would seem that you can now submit projects to the Freicoin Foundation and if successful, you will get funded in Freicoin.

Anyway, I have more Freicoin.

10,000 Freicoin for 220 Litecoin or 1.49 Bitcoin

Well, from the number of block found in the last day, this give a difficulty raise of about 3.18.  That will give around 7800.  Yes, a lot of people are mining like crazy.  I think we'll just get Phugoid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phugoid)

2750FRC @ 0.275BTC or 10 LTC or 125 PPC

That works out to 2 cents per FRC if we put BTC at an even $200, which is very consistent with the very first valuations we saw months back before the hash-rate slump and resurgence.  This is very encouraging as it indicates FRC has been quite stable despite very wild swings in Hash-rate, I can't see any other coin (alt or otherwise) going through those kinds of hash-rate gyrations (loss of ~97% of peak rate in a wekk and staying their for nearly 2 months) and emerging without a scratch on it's valuation.  When improved difficulty calculation code is done and added to the chain FRC should become immune to any similar slowdown in the future and become even more stable.

So while I disagree with some folks that expect FRC value to rise precipitously, I am eager to see the level of commerce rise and think a stable value will do that.  Thus FRC would be a safer more conservative coin to be in, while it may have lower upside potential it looks to have lower downside as well, with nearly all of that downside at present still being due to it's extremely young age so that risk should diminish with time.
