Find out more at: https://letsencrypt.org/

What do you guys think of this idea?
Will it lead to ssl secure phishing sites?

I think a scam site would have no problem getting an ssl encryption. They would not even have to use free solutions where you are prompted to download a certificate but there are certificates that are shared and using them can be paid for. It probably would be worth to buy if phising is so successfull.

Or does this project mean the name shown in the green ssl field can be altered or will show a trustworthy name?

yes it does, but it seems to have limitations:

Thing is with this firefox is backing it, so it will likely not have any issues being detected or used unlike cloudflare.
For some reason even facebook hoped on board.

I tried it out on my server, and it works. To bad my server is behind cloudflare, so I'm more or less forced to use cloudflares certificate.
