Title: No more free funcaptcha account for me :(
Post by: SweetAnna on January 27, 2016, 05:46:55 PM
I just received a mail from Funcaptcha :

"You have been allocated a Free account trial. Moreover, it appears the traffic to your CAPTCHA does not meet fair usage as in our Terms of Service"

They ask me to upgrade to a "plus" account (and they don't even tell the prices on their website doh)

Anyone else got this e-mail?

We have also received this message. Apparently they have decided to change the meanings of the words "free" and "forever"...or at least they removed them from the website today. I wouldn't trust them so much as a security solution, as they left their editing password box open while modifying their website to make these changes.

This is about a CAPTCHA provider that said it was free, but now says they will close your account and stop letting you use FunCaptcha unless you pay them.

Faucet owners using FunCaptcha will now be charged for visitors who successfully claim.

The new images to select woman in FunCaptcha is annoying and paying for a captcha service is ridiculous, I switch back to reCaptcha.

Sounds ridiculous but how such companies earn money when they don't sell anything. There must be a working business model for them so I can understand they do some changes. Only when other services offer the same for free then it's hard to start asking money for the same.

They are offering advertisement as part of their captcha, but will not allow faucet/cryptocurrency sites to use these captchas with advertisements because they claim that the ad company they work with does not wish to be displayed on such websites.
So, to make up for the supposed loss in revenue for not displaying ads on cryptocurrency sites (and whatever other sites they might not like), they charge a no-ad fee and act like the publisher didn't want ads as part of the captcha because the publisher didn't have the right content/traffic on their own website.
