Title: DUPE: Currency symbol for Bitcoin Post by: Yeti on June 08, 2011, 11:36:07 AM Hi everybody,
the search function turned up nothing about this topic, but if there is another thread, please excuse. I have seen various symbols popping up for Bitcoins recently, apart from calling them "Bitcoins" or using the seemingly-ISO-4217-compliant code "BTC". Bitcoin Mining Calculator (http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator.php) uses the Thai Baht (฿) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_baht), which in my opinion is a bad choice. It would prohibit everybody from Thailand to display exchange rates correctly. What's the Bitcoin/Baht ratio abbreviated? ฿/฿? Now, what to use? I just came across http://cablesaurus.com/ (http://cablesaurus.com/), which uses Unicode codepoint U+0243 (Ƀ), which personally I find attractive for the following reasons:
Are there any more symbols floating around? If so, shouldn't we decide on an "official" symbol to represent the Bitcoin? Kind regards Yeti P.S.: Nevermind, I found the thread (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=369.0). *facepalm* |
