Title: Umbilical hernia operation: can bitcoiners help?
Post by: nobbynobbynoob on January 02, 2013, 11:44:09 PM
Is there any way bitcoiners could help this cause (https://plus.google.com/u/0/108601020727554262784/posts/Q59VoLsLPVk)? If so, who would act as an honest intermediary to handle the money?

Can this story be verified? I'm not saying I don't believe it but there's so many sob stories/scams going around these days it's sickening. If this can be proven as legit I would be willing to collect any donations, exchange them for PayPal on fastcash4bitcoins.com and make the donation to the PayPal address provided.
+1.

His work is fuckin' awesome! With apologies to Jaime Ibarra, for his work is protected: http://ibarraphoto.com/portfolio/wings/

Perhaps he, for whoever is taking care of this while he's ailing, populate the following site with a little more content: http://jaimeneedssurgery.chipin.com/hernia-surgery-costs

Welcome to Jaime Ibarra's page for their ChipIn event Hernia Surgery Costs. Jaime Ibarra has not made any updates to this page yet. To make a contribution, click on the ChipIn! button on the right.

I assume that Jaime has a hell of a following, only needing a handful of his supporters to donate a little to reach his goal: https://plus.google.com/u/0/113464569897311842405/about

This is fuckin' nuts! I've literally stared at the above image for over five minutes. It seems so really to me, as if such creatures exist, but knowing they don't.

During the extended viewing, I do believe I found a solution to his problem. Sell 500 numbered limited editions of the image above for $10 each, with Jaime honestly and openly penning the reason as to what the money will be used for.

If such a scenario transpired, who here would purchase a copy? I would!

Somebody, bring this thread to Jaime's attention.

Alas, no, just willing to support any decent-looking cause fronted by a hot-looking Aussie chick. Not with any ulterior motives, you understand! ;D

Juggalodarkclow seems to be on a frequency. Just a matter of getting the thing off the ground. Like has already been said, it wouldn't take a huge number of peeps a huge amount of donation funds per person to get this ball rolling.

Judging by the reactions it seems like this a legit cause so I'll offer to accept donations and exchange them for PayPal @ fastcash4bitcoin.com and send them to the appropriate PayPal address. I thought it would be a cool gesture and a way to raise awareness if we attach a note to the final donation mentioning something about how it was raised using bitcoin. I feel it's appropriate if nobbynobbynoob writes the note since he's the one who brought this to our attention.

Thanks juggalodarkclow, it's much appreciated. I think I can manage a little explanatory note okay. I'm 99% confident this is a legitimate cause (of course 100% is impossible!).

I'll open with BTC0,50 shortly.

Donation received. I have edited my first post in this thread to keep a running total of all donations, of course all transactions can be verified against the blockchain.

Surgery Update

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of +Gretchen Chappelle & +Ivan Makarov...as-well-as everyone who contributed, I am going to be able to get my much-needed hernia surgery taken care of!

I'm speaking with a few different surgeons now, and deciding which one will be doing the operation. I should have the pre-op done within a week or so...and this will be over, soon after. I'd say there is "light at the end of the tunnel"...but I'm actually AT the end of the proverbial tunnel :)

My sincere thanks go to all of you who have generously helped with this...I'll keep you posted!

While brainstormin' to the nth degree, I may have found a way to help any future Indie Artist if in a similar pickle or, for that matter, simply move their wares. Stay tuned!
