Title: (CLOSED)[Solo Group Mining] Block Breakers United
Post by: ezeminer on January 29, 2016, 05:58:23 PM
=============
====Objective===
=============
To pool money together to solo mine blocks as a group.

I collect money to rent mining rigs from nicehash, then I point them at http://solo.ckpool.org/ (http://solo.ckpool.org/) and hope we find a block.

You may get money back, and you may not get money back. It all depends on if we find a block or not. If we do find a block we will divide the block up and give each person that bought in the exact same amount. If not, you will receive nothing back. Invest / Gamble at your own risk

If you would like to withhold some funds as a donation to -ck for running his pool and being a great developer in the community. I will hold it and create a transaction including everyone's donations and post on -ck's thread that will include everyone that chooses to donate.

If anyone was interested in this idea, I wouldn't mind running it for free.

I can provide signed messages as far back as my first trades, but I only recently staked my address in the address staking thread by tomatocage.

I only wanted to offer this because some other pooled funds have come up, and I wouldn't want to see people get burned on it.

If this is successful, I probably will continue it for a while. The poll only is meant to end so that after 120 days I can see the results.

Starting out, I would like to fill the .05 group. But if people are wanting the higher then I will also do those.

Just made a run at it myself and currently found 1 block using 800TH power.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.msg13723757#msg13723757 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.msg13723757#msg13723757)

Don't think I'll invest until you start running the 1 or 2ph groups, I don't really see 100th getting lucky enough. Each run the EU counterparts did, it seems they were running 500th-1ph. If you want to bump it up and try 500th instead of 100th, I'd probably down for that.

You're in. I will update the list once I get home.

Do you have an address available to send Bitcoin back to in the event of a win?

I'm feeling lucky :D Just let me sync up my BTC wallet and I'll send 0.05BTC to the 1st Group address and PM you my return address.

The more the merrier !

Working on building up my BTC stash and then count me in for sure! I already run an s1 at solo.ckpool trying the lottery anyways :) I'm glad to see groups trying to split the cost of this... 800 TH/s is quite pricey for a low-level miner lol

We will start mining once 10 people join, so don't worry. Once we get 10 people there will also be room for extras that join within 24 hours, if the rest of the group wants it.

I'm just new to bitcoin and I have 0.05 on my wallet, want to join this thing since you have a very good trust rating, but could you please enlighten me on what this is all about? I want to learn and at the same time I want to earn.  ;D Pardon me for my noobness.

Sure I wouldn't mind explaining this.
So everyone pools funds together to rent hash. I rent the hash for everyone and point it back at the address you send your funds too. If we hit a block the address will have a new input for roughly 25 BTC. I then divide it among all participants and send out all payments, also ask if you want to hold back any funds for donations to -ck. If not you get your cut.

Hopefully soon. I know the German group currently has 1PH for like 4 1/4 days, or 22 BTC worth. So far at least through a day or two.

I personally have tried with 400TH for a few hours a few times and got nothing, 3Hrs gives you 18 Chances on average to hit a Bitcoin block, the longer the rental the better, I say wait for more participants.

^^ slow and steady wins the race, figuratively (patience is a virtue). you are already only going in with only 100th, so you would definitely want as much time on the cock to increase your odds. the German group is running at 1ph, and they haven't found anything yet, so that should tell you something. why be impatient and decrease your odds.

They have like 10 coins left, and a couple hours on their 1PH rental, so almost halfway done there. 22coins, and 1PH rentals is like 4.25 days worth of mining time. That would be crazy if they did not hit a block AT LEAST. But it also wouldn't surprise me, mining is a gambling game, it just depends if you have enough luck.

Actually looking at the difficulty adjustment, we should probably start sunday at mid-day. Just because the difficulty will change roughly when I am sleeping.

I hope that doesn't bother you.

LOL, I mean its 0.05 BTC ~$20, pocket change, why not. Hopefully we get enough for at least 100th for 24hrs, to make it remotely worth it hah. Should be not have enough by time your ready to run it, pm me, I'll probably add more to ensure at least 100th.

And honestly, congrats to them. They threw 22BTC at it, you would hope they find a block :D its like an 88% chance of hitting a block with that much invested into hashrate.

No problemo.

Update for participants: I added a little extra (0.075) for a little good luck bonus. Currently the wallet has 0.525, and can be confirmed here: https://blockchain.info/address/3AgQHPwfXddFoSn9qY3sn1rbPmto75T42V (https://blockchain.info/address/3AgQHPwfXddFoSn9qY3sn1rbPmto75T42V)

0.45 from participants (including me) and 0.075 from myself. If we were to hit a block, the current payout would be split 9 ways, but Angus would receive two of those based on the amount put forth (0.1 total).

Based on the difficulty, it looks like hash rental prices will drop 20% by the time we start mining. It'll be a change of 0.0044 to roughly 0.0035 per TH. We will have 150TH for 24 hours at this moment.

I sent the rest of the money from my wallet to the nicehash wallet. The only reason I keep this setup is to return money without having to pay nicehash's fees of 0.0005 to return it. It also makes it easier to track money because each address holds different variants of funds.

Depends on hashrate and duration of mining. But it also depends on current difficulty.

Yes.

People are buying at 0.0039 and 0.0040, I'm just waiting it out a little because there are two orders above us for a combined 2.6ph.

If the group wants to bump up the price it is possible, just slightly less mining time. If prices go down then I could drop the price a little to try and get more mining time.

Mining address is wrong use a fullstop and not an underscore, that is why hashrate is reading 0 right now.

Edit: Just seen the msg above, Didn't want our hash to go to waste, I will throw a couple of my own rigs onto the address with a different worker name just to try to increase our chances  ;D

The master address:
http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX (http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX)

This is the worker that I am mining to:
http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX_BBUG1001 (http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX_BBUG1001)

The BBUG1001 is an identifier for me,
"Block Breakers United Group 1 (attempt) 001"
is what it really means.

and thanks Nthused

Am I reading this wrong 0 hashrate?
Yes.

People are buying at 0.0039 and 0.0040, I'm just waiting it out a little because there are two orders above us for a combined 2.6ph.

If the group wants to bump up the price it is possible, just slightly less mining time. If prices go down then I could drop the price a little to try and get more mining time.
Cool, I understand thanks for the update.
No problem. Looking at the numbers, if you add 0.0001 to the prices, you lose about a half hour with our funds and our current hashrate.

The master address:
http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX (http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX)

This is the worker that I am mining to:

The BBUG1001 is an identifier for me,
"Block Breakers United Group 1 (attempt) 001"
is what it really means.

Can you explain me how will it work?
I mean suppose I am investing 0.05 BTC here. So what are the chances of getting ROI and in how many days will it reach ROI?
And what percentage of shares will be distributed to each investor after a block is solved?

Also how about using that address 1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX externally as worker by me on ck pool with my miners? What will be the subsidy then? ;)

This is more gambling, but it requires people to invest to pool money together to rent mining rigs. We then point the mining rigs at http://solo.ckpool.org/ (http://solo.ckpool.org/)

So say 10 people invest 0.05 each, we rent some rigs and find a block. The block will be divided equally among each person that has a share. If we get a block, then you ROI. If we do not get a block there is no return. This is like buying a lottery ticket, you may win, and you may not win.

Edit: Updated the OP, trying to work on creating a cleaner format for users.

But better chances then the lotto, with 24Hrs of rental time the miners of the network have on average 144 chances of hitting a block, it comes down to hashpower and luck, renting big power for long periods of time is expensive by yourself that is why this service exists so it takes some of the risk out with others throwing into the pot together to achieve the same goal.

Hey ezeminer nice job throwing this together. I was wondering if you might consider opening smaller pools? I know that alot of ppl get weekly signature payments(i know because i employ them :) ) but those guys may be interested in say a 20 person pool at .025 per person. Just an idea of course but you may find a few guys

It could be an idea for the future, it is just that 0.5 BTC on rentals realistically gets you roughly 2% chance of getting a block. The more people that join, the harder it gets to manage. But i will consider it.

What happened to the rental ? Hashrate has dropped down to 50TH... was it a disconnection from the stratum server ? Maybe try using port 3334 for the US Server, also are they DE Rigs or US Rigs ?

How long is left as well ?

The rental was beat out in price for a little bit of time, thus decreasing the hash for a little.

I'm renting on the westhash side to mine at ck's solo pool.

Roughly 6 to 7 hours is left on rentals, I'll have to check when I get home.

Well if the miner does hit a block, it would be on fire. It couldn't comprehend that it beat astronomical odds :P

Also an Update, we have 5 hours left.

No, nobody profits because we didn't hit a best share over the magic number at this point in time of 144Billion or to be more technical over 144,116,447,847

The next difficulty change its going to get hammered with a predicted difficulty of 174,430,176,444 in 10 & a half days time almost.

Do you think people would also be interested in setting up a Solo Merged Mining Group for LTC Blocks & DOGE Blocks combined ?

You could incorporate it into a separate side of the OP or a seperate Announcement with a "much lower buy in" for a better chance of finding a block but of course a Litecoin one.

Every LTC block on average equates to about 0.2-0.25BTC ATM if selling them.

I have taken the risk by myself not that long back & hit a LTC block & a few DOGE blocks, so it is viable.

I have kind of narrowed down the luck to bigger rigs instead of many small ones, but then again that is just personal preference.

What are everyone's thoughts ?

We are the Block Breakers & we are United :D

feel free to test it

Question:

1. For Group 1: Can I enter 2 entries?, ie. worker1 and worker2

2. What is the estimated BTC payout for members in Group 1, if we hit a block?

If 10 members join and we find a block that contains exactly 25 BTC, then it would be distributed evenly throughout 10 people - everyone gets 2.5 BTC

I will update all the entries on Monday, so do not feet if you don't see yourself on the list.

this seams like a pretty smart thing to do.

just got fee questions.

what's the chance of getting a block to earn your btc back. correct me if inam wrong but to do this your don't need to mine at all before or have mining rigs right.?
thanks and might try this if this one gets a block.

So overall on 0.5BTC we have a 2% chance of mining a block. But on the other hand if we do, we get a 5000% profit (50x profit).

To get a block you need to be mining. It is like dice. As long as you throw dice you have a chance. If you don't have dice you have no chance. Mining also isn't progressive. Either you have a share that is above the difficulty or you do not.

I hope that helps.

You can buy in any amount of times, I only ask for 10 entries to start because it doesn't make sense doing much less than 0.5BTC for mining.

If anyone has complaints of too many entrants please express your concern early, rather than late.

Thanks ammi for the script!
The script has been set up and uploaded to my website: http://zeroxal.xyz/

@ezeminer
Please give me the pool info once the mining starts, so I can update the script to work. (Its currently using 1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX_BBUG1001 as worker at ckpool)

Cool thank you.

It will just change from BBUG1001 to BBUG1002 when we do start Mining.
The script has been updated. It will show the stats after the mining has started. (Make sure to use BBUG1002 as worker).
When will it start?

Thanks ammi for the script!
The script has been set up and uploaded to my website: http://zeroxal.xyz/

@ezeminer

February 23rd, it should be safe enough for renting rigs by then once everyone gets down from mining a little.

Hi ezeminer,
I do a fair bit of rentals to maximize my BTCs because my electricity is expensive.
Could you share the retionale of lower rental pricing for 23rd Feb period so that I could do a smarter rental strategy like you :-)

I said based off your group.. So naturally I inherited that. Take it as a compliment. I thought you did a good job thinking of everything. I'm just interested in a larger group run, but seems like that wasn't going to happen in here with this group. So sorry I offended everyone, was just trying to get things rolling. I'll remove it all, and take a refund of my funds please.

I can refund tomorrow night, sorry that it happens like that. Trust me, it is hard getting a good group going. It is also hard to sell people on the idea. If you work to being a good person in the community, trade, be polite and stimulate the forum you can build yourself a spot.

This is true, I started an idea similar to this & ezeminer offered his services as an Escrow/Running it on the thread (This was before Block Breakers United was set up)

I decided that it would be better to instead join forces with him since we could both bring in potential risk takers & try our luck together instead of just scraping at it by ourselves hence the whole Group/Pooled Address Solo Mining.

Yes, I'm pretty sure everyone knows there is a German solo mining group as well as a few other hush hush groups that supposedly rent Th-Ph per day but most are run by low level members with no trust or post history or in another language also note that they are higher hashrate rentals on average for bigger buy-ins and BBU is just getting started with its second run.

Block Breakers United also offers bigger groups if people would like but it is best to invite others before applying for the group as you don't want to be waiting for a while for participants because of such larger buy-ins.

If there is something good going on then you should stick with it, there has been a lot more participants/buy-ins this round in the short space of time.

We may get lucky with our hashrate that we rent & hit a block OR we may not, that is the joys of gambling :D

Yes, I understand all that. It's fine I'll stay in the group for the run ezeminer. I was just being salty. I just dislike other people shitting on me \ disrespecting me even after I apologize. There are better, more respectful ways of letting someone know what they did wasn't cool. It's not that I was trying to "shit" on this thread or any other. Simply was trying to get the attention for the group. So I am sorry again.

All you need to do is use the template in OP and send to the address of the group you would like. I set a date because I was expecting it to be slow, and also timing the rental buy can get you better rates.

It'll be about 200-220TH this run.

Sent all the funds to nicehash, so should be running shortly.

The transaction finally confirmed this morning, I was waiting all yesterday for it to confirm. Darn network *grumble grumble* (or me for doing a low fee or something)

I can either start the mining or leave a couple hours open to allow stragglers to get in.

Edit: I also snuck in my 0.05 entry if that is alright with everyone.

im ready to in for another round this time, but can i know what are chances getting block? is it hard? if found a block.. the reward are 25btc? or its random amount of btc?
well good luck to all who invested here :) hope you guys make it.
Depends on how much btc we use to mine with. If we use 1BTC we have a 4% chance. 10BTC 40% 25BTC 100% chance. but the 100% chance is not guaranteed. It is theoretical. We could hit 0, we could hit 3.

This also has been said many times, it doesn't matter the amount of hash when renting, it is how much you spend.

Hi guys,

a made a little PHP Script for the Lotto-Run-Statistics

feel free to test it

http://pastebin.com/GkpJm5x5

you need to edit Lines 20/39 everything else can be as it is
upload to webspace with php and here we go :)

Live from the German-Lotto-Run: http://cig-bitcoin.lima-city.de/test.php
pretty neat

thanks
i am still "developing" ... just getting ideas and little code optimisations.

Version 1.3.1 with CSS is now online.
http://cig-bitcoin.lima-city.de/solorun/

Source: http://pastebin.com/L10rCxDx
Thanks ammi for the script!
The script has been set up and uploaded to my website: http://zeroxal.xyz/

@ezeminer

February 23rd, it should be safe enough for renting rigs by then once everyone gets down from mining a little.

Last I checked it was not updating the numbers, and the worker name is exactly 1FuL4PkG4MWGEh6JzUzu25CK67LVMyPbYX_BBUG1002

You always have a chance to hit a block, even with 1 th or less.
One block gives 25 BTC + the tx fees of the txs included in the block. If you hit 3 blocks, that is ~76 BTC which gives each of you around 7.6 BTC.
To get the block, your "share" needs to be over the network difficulty.

You have a chance but a very, very, very, very, etc slim chance, maybe in a millennium hahaha, I had my 3 Antminer U3's running at 180Gh/s combined for 3 months and not a share was close to the Block busting one required to solve the Bitcoin block, I think the closest I ever had with them was in the higher end of the Hundreds of Millions.

It would on average be every 11,285 years you would find a block. Assuming difficulty doesn't change. That's why those miners are usually referred to lotto miners. Best I have seen on mine is a 1 billion share.

New entries can be accepted, I can run any or all groups at the same time. Like group 1 and 2 can be run at the same time.

Group addresses are static and will not change unless for some reason, which will be mentioned in this thread. Group 1 is the 0.05BTC, group 2 is the 0.5BTC and group 3 is the 2BTC. These will not change either, unless people want different amounts like 0.25 or 1BTC.

Each group is there to allow different increments of BTC. This means if you want to risk 0.05, make an entry for group 1. If you want to risk more, make an entry with group 2 or 3.

I don't have a specific date, but I might bump up to 20 entries, because 1BTC has better odds than 0.5BTC.

The first run had like 0.58BTC while this run has 0.78BTC.
The first run best share was 7B, this run was 17B.

Everyone that has entered has been added. Thank you for your continued group support.

what about once a week regardless of entrants? Of course some kind of minimum should be met like the 10 entries, I dunno I'm willing to do this every week just like buyin lotto tickets. Just my two cents I'm happy with any setup as long as we gamblin ;)

Sorry guys...
It's silly question!...
What is the meaning of solo mining?...
If i want to be in this group.. What can i do?...
Regards...
we all put funds together to rent Bitcoin mining equipment and then point the equipment at a solomining pool and if the equipment finds a block (25 btc) it is split proportionately amongst those who paid into it. The Original post on this thread is where you can find how to add your funds to the group you choose depending and the amount your willing to risk :)

sorry I missed the point..... Solo mining means you try to solve a block by yourself instead of mining in a group (pool) and getting paid per share, although we are a group it's nowhere near as large as the big pools running

The analogy I use is, this is pretty much like buying a lottery ticket. The group is like pooling together money at work and splitting a winning lotto ticket.

May I know if ever a block was found until today?

Sorry if I am ignorant but I did not check the previous posts before asking this.

And how far it is being successful?

I think placing contracts on Miningrigrentals will be profitable since thy are having low fees than Nicehash if I am right.

It depends when you rent. Miningrigrentals is more expensive than nicehash in my experience. Right now MMR is 0.0002 more per TH than nicehash. But also depending on how many TH we need, we would need more orders.

We have not found a block yet, so now is a good time to get in.

The chances increase by roughly 0.2% per entry. If we have 10 people we have a 2% chance, with a chance to multiply your investment by 50x.

Huge risk for me. Id love to invest, but the total mining power is an exahash (I think).

What's the chance of, let's say 1000 THS, (1 BTC per investor) getting a block? It's miniscule?

ezeminer - I would like to submit a 2nd entry to quicken our lotto to 10 entries. Let me know if my 2nd entry is acceptable. Thanks.

Btw, i hit my first solo block recently by pure luck. 19TB only - 4 x  S7s in 6 hours - so if you still wondering if the stories about small miners getting any solo blocks are true - i can personally say yes.... it's randomly luck just like any lottery. Experiencing good lucky streak lately, so I hope my 2nd entry to the coming lotto will bring us luck as well! Cheers and keep on mining!

Taking quite a while this time round, strange as there were 35 people in the poll that have said they would be interested and we have had a couple of runs so far, fair enough no block hit but that just means we still have one to come (at some point)

I consider Wednesday at a later time because I live in the US :P

I'll also send the funds over tonight and get the mining going. Also throwing in a small 0.01 from campaign payouts.

Wiped the lists and reset with a deadline of March 30th.

If we keep getting people I will try and keep this small project running. If not I will probably shut it down, I know there are bigger groups that consistently hit blocks and keep the fun going.

Oh well never mind, everyone knew the chance was small to hit a block.

I'm in again for the next round anyway :).

Thanks again for running it :).

Cool, nice to have a deadline as well and thanks for running this so far, hopefully it will pay off in the next couple of runs.

nthused mentioned solo ltc mining. I looked into it and would be willing to run on that side of the fence. CK made the solo pool as well. Any opions?

If we were going to go ahead with the Litecoin Solo Team then I would be pointing it to the Merged Mining LTC/DOGE Solo Pool http://ltc.tbdice.org

It is essentially built from the same -ck code used for solo mining BTC on -ck solo pool.

LTC/DOGE Merged Mining Solo (http://ltc.tbdice.org)
LTC: If you find a block, 99.5% of the 25 LTC + transaction fees get generated directly at your litecoin address!
DOGE: If you find a block, 95.0% of the 10 000 DOGE+ transaction fees get generated directly at your doge address!

Nthused are you willing to run it ?

Title: Re: [Solo Group Mining] Block Breakers United

Nthused are you willing to run it ?

Sure, as long as there is enough buy-ins for a round.

For a 4Gh/s (Scrypt) rental for 24 hours it will be around the 0.45BTC mark and it would take 3x Litecoin Block finds in that 24hours to be in profit if no DOGE Blocks are found.

Although even if the buy-ins are smaller compared to the above and rental hashpower/rental hours is lower, profit can still be achieved with "LUCK" :)

Just wanted to say this is sweet way to gamble. :D
Definitely gonna give it a whirl for the first pool March 30th one.
Hopefully a block will be found, who knows.
Maybe I can pull some friends in for more hashing power. Ha

Cheers.
