Title: Woman may face jail time for refusing to do housework
Post by: galdur on February 05, 2016, 03:51:12 AM
In some places, the punishment for a less-than-clean house is a dirty jail cell.

A husband from the Lazio region of Italy is taking his wife to court this week, alleging that she does not perform enough housework. Her failure to clean has led to "mistreatment of the family," reports Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.

As a result, he and his family have been "forced to live in conditions with poor hygiene" for the past two years. He argues that food, which could have been used, has gone to waste. The husband himself has even been kicked out of his own bedroom, and feels "insulted."

While 'failure to complete housework' is not a crime in Italy, negligence is. If convicted, she could spend anywhere from two to six years in jail. The 40-year-old woman goes on trial Oct. 12.

In March of 2014, a campaign was launched to provide housewives with a government-funded salary, but the measure did not pass.

It is unclear why, exactly, the husband couldn't perform the chores himself.

Calling people stupid after they've posted something only works if you're actually right, the source checking and posting on this forum has become a fucking joke lately and then the topic creators have the balls to act offended when you call them out on it.

Retards don´t read. That is being confirmed every day here. The city, the province, the judge and prosecutor are all named in this news story from Italy.

Man, he explained rather well how bad your news website is xD

Take the information at source or don't post anything. And btw your source is in Italian, maybe the "retard" just doesn't speak Italian, and maybe it's why he's on the English forum and not the Italian one  ;D

No need to act offended when you're wrong.

You know what's worse than people who only read the headlines?  - People who cut and paste entire articles from "news" sites into the Bitcointalk forum without so much as a single-word commentary of their own.   This type of post is at the very least in bad form and more-than-likely should be removed.  I would imagine if we were in Italy, you could be sentenced to jail time for it.

Just so I remain on-topic:
There are many details missing from both the English-language and the Italian-language versions but we have similar laws in North America where you will also face a fine, jail term and/or having your children removed from your care and placed into the care of the state if you don't clean or feed them.  There are also cases in both the USA and Canada where children have been taken from their parents quite simply because of their ideologies.  The only odd thing about your Italian story is it's utter lack of detail.

It just seems this user is a troll in need for attention.
From what I understood from this article it's pretty much similar to most other countries. What the article doesn't say is how is the woman considered the only one responsible in fact.

But the articles are so close to crappy invented story that it's really difficult to know what's right and wrong.

Sorry about the mixup on the username, I think another guy had a similar avatar as you and I got confused lol but yeah your sources are still bad, you know for a lot of places you can just dig up the actual laws for that specific area on government websites right? They're pretty much obliged to post any stupid laws up so people don't get put in jail.

You gotta educate your wife for sure ;D

Well I doesn't care for splitting the daily task such as cleaning. But that's only because my wife works so it would be unfair if she was the only one to take care of the house.
But yes if the husband or wife stays at the house, she must at least do the housework properly! Otherwise it's clearly unbalanced relationship!

What you say is obvious for everyone, and thus a bit useless. The main part is "people should talk" well yeah they should, doesn't mean they will!

Well back into the context, this wife was not working. So it means that if she didn't do the chores, what did she do for the family?

If both are working, then just try to do what you can and equal chores, fine with that. But if one is not working, he/she should take care of the house and the children! Seems logical to me!

That's true, the complete work can not be only done by one person. So side who don't have a job should take more care about house and kids, but if both are working need to split and do housework together all will be ok then

I can read some Italian. It says that the husband was coming home with food from the supermarket, expecting his wife to to make a dinner out of it, but the wife just put everything in the trashcan... That happened many, many times over 6 years, and I just don't understand why the guy kept on coming home... Anyway, the guy went to justice with the hope to solve his feeding problem, and that means he's a total *sshole. He 'd better start looking for a new wife. I'm sure the case will be dismissed.

Interesting...

My way of thinking is that when I mate with a woman, I want her and I to have a traditional partnership where I make the money to pay for the house and amenities, and she makes just enough to pay for groceries and our clothes. She can stay home with our children, raise them, take care of them, make sure they're healthy, and clean the house. On weekends, we can all go out as a family and bond with one another.

If my wife wouldn't, I don't see a partnership at all. Life isn't something that's handed to you. You have to earn it. Not to say I think they were right to go through with the extreme of suing the woman. Just to say that I understand the frustration.

Why not, it all depends on the partnership you want.

In my case we have a rather modern partnership. We both work and earn more or less the same thing, we share everything including the chores. But the important is the equality of the total relationship. Doesn't matter who does the chores or who works or whatever. The important is that both share the living cost and work the most equally possible. And as long as you're happy who can judge? ^^

Bah, even not performing the housework is a crime by itself!

It's not the woman job but it's the job of the one in the couple who doesn't work. If he brings the bread AND do the chores, what does she even do?

Domestic work is not restricted to women. What the article is trying to tell us is that the women might be wrong by refusing to do domestic chores. If the man felt that the woman was not doing her job, he could have hired someone to do it for him , or even hire a domestic servant.

It´s probably some silly law that he´s trying to hang his hat on.

Silly laws are everywhere

(f) A person who possesses six or more obscene devices [[[dildos]]] or identical or similar obscene articles is presumed to possess them with intent to promote the same.

I like this link though!

Problem with laws is that nobody check them regularly so it's full of old stupid laws that makes absolutely no sense now:!

yes , you are right something must be changed.. lawmakers must look over old-school laws and must get rid of them..

Not only look over but also suppress them.
It's horrible how complicated it is to understand the laws of your country, it should be really simplified for the people!

I just don't understand why only women is supposed to do all the work without any complaimts, without any holiday, 24x7, 365 days, and still not complain... Husbands should help them, will it make them a lesser man....
She has to take care of the house, the kids, in-laws , cleaning,  cooking, and what not... Instead of getting rewarded for all this, husbands just do not stop complaining. . This is pathetic. ..

Wife Battered Husband After She Found Dildo Among His Belongings, Cops Charge

Meet Chao Gao.

After discovering a dildo among her husband’s belongings during a move Wednesday night, the Florida woman attacked her spouse, leaving him with bruises and scratches on his face, according to cops who arrested Chao for domestic battery.

As detailed in court records, the 48-year-old Chao and Joshua Sinclair, who have been married for just over a year, were driving to a new residence in Sarasota when Gao confronted Sinclair about the sex toy she discovered.

In a police statement, Sinclair wrote that Gao became furious upon learning from him that “a dildo she found was actually for me to use.”

An argument between the couple then allegedly turned physical. Sinclair charged that Gao--who was driving at the time--began to “beat and slap and pinch my face with her hand repeatedly” for about 30 minutes. The attack ended, Sinclair said, when the duo arrived at their new home (from which he dialed police).

When a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived in response to the 911 call, he found Sinclair with “injuries of bruising and scratching” to “the victim’s right eye, lip, nose, and forehead.” Gao “had no signs of injuries,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

Gao, who operates a Sarasota day care facility, was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery count. She was released from custody yesterday and is scheduled for arraignment on March 15.
