Title: Sent to address while sychronizing
Post by: Jaredxoxo on February 07, 2016, 07:03:53 AM
Hey all,
As the title suggests i prematurely sent bitcoin from a website to my electrum account. Unfortunately i was hasty and used a wallet in the recieve tab that was not there when the sychronization ended. And now i dont have any btc showing in my electrum. And i checked blockchain.info and there were confirmations.

Am i screwed regarding the bitcoin or is there a way to go back and see addresses from  the past per se.

Thank you

Electrum don't need to sync with the network , It only take couple of seconds , so how this happened ?
I'd suggest try to connect to another server by clicking the green/red icon the right bottom and see how things goes . anyway you should be able to get your coins since you do own the private keys of that address .

I don't know how thats possible, the address shown in the receive should be there in the wallet. Is the electrum's green light at the right bottom on?

My sync took a solid 20 minutes - i loaded the electrum wallet from a seed. The green light is now on but when i did thr transaction all it said in the bottom right corner was 'synchronizing...'

Well that's weird but I don't think there is anything to be worried about .
Since you made the transaction and you can clearly see it on the Blockchain then you could export the private keys of that address (used to receive) and import to Bitcoin Core (will need downloading the whole blockchain) or Blockchain.info and you can use the funds.

If sync took long, click on the symbols (where the green dot is), turn of auto connect and select a different server. Its usually syncs quickly if you do.

Go to addresses tab. Open the "receiving" tree and then the "Used" tree underneath that. See if your address is under "Used".

If it isn't there then tell us if you were viewing some other wallet ? If you were viewing some other wallet then the address may be from that wallet.

If the address is under "Used" then you need to switch to a different electrum server by clicking on the red/green orb icon on the bottom right. This should update your balance.
