it seems that Steam prepare their systems to accept bitcoin payments through Bitpay. This is big news for gaming community and for Bitcoin image because we talk for the most popular gaming pc platform.

This would a pretty big step in getting bitcoin accepted in most places as many people use Steam.
Would be nice if it actually happens!

Yeah i agree with you, if it's real Steam accepted bitcoin soon, i'm sure people will choose bitcoin soon because it's easy to use and the price of bitcoin will also increase.

This is really huge, specially with the amount of users Steam have regularly, it would certainly increase the demand therefor as result it could even help to increase BTCitcoin value in the long run. Not sure if others had same experience with me but in order for me to fund my Steam account, I had to go over two exchange rewards system due to my location and it was very frustrating and that made me stop using Steam but with this, I'll be using it when everything gets sorted out.

Bitpay is helping a lot of companies accept bitcoin payments who don't wish to accept it directly, Wargaming recently started accepting BTC as well and therefore Steam must be looking to do the same.

Pretty awesome news! A lot of new people will be introduced to bitcoin as a result. Whether they start using it will be the question, but atleast they get the logo shown every time they try to make a purchase.

Now for some other services such as humblebundle to start accepting it and you have another couple of million people exposed to it.

I hope they would offer some kind of discount for BTC so there will be more reason for non-BTC users to jump in and use it. Once they get the feel of it, they will always use BTC in any of their transactions online.

This would be a huge step in BTC acceptance. But I m not surprised, after all Wargaming already did it and they are HUGE.

I think it's just a matter of time before Steam is accepting Bitcoin as payment method. Gamers are quite techie, and giving them the option to pay in Bitcoin makes perfectly sense.

Steam recoginze true power of btc, it was just a question of time when will big platforms start to accept btc. We are moving foward. I think this will be great for many people who dont like pay pal and some other mastercard shit. Im ready to buy some games when they let us buy game with btc..

That's really paradoxically that they are doing this only now. I mean gamers are considered the most technically advanced people, just like bitcoin users, so overlap is obvious

It makes a lot of sense for steam to take bitcoin. Many gamers are young and un-banked. They also must be swamped with paperwork dealing with all the currencies in use around the world.

I remember I was really pissed off at Gabe Newel for still ignoring Bitcoin in Steam, when it would be such a natural thing to do to accept Bitcoin in Steam since buying with credit cards is a pain in the ass (you have to put money in the credit card, then you have to log in to your bank account page which is a mess, you have to enter the security pass in your physical card that is random each time, then you need to confirm with your phone, and you need to do this all faster than your bank logs you off because you take too much time in the webpage and as a security measure it auto logs you off after X time... it's just terrible). Now with Bitcoin, it would take seconds.

I hope this is true this time and we can be buying games soon with Bitcoin officially through steam.

Amph, I think the big difference is Steam has a much bigger user base and it pose a huge opportunity for us to get much bigger acceptance. I guess they

finally, it seems like our requests finally got to them. but it tool them so long.

i personally have submitted the request for adding bitcoin to their services about 6 months ago, where they responded negatively.

I think this is because of the taxes they take out of your purchase and surely the taxes they have to pay the government for their sale. and as a start I think they go with US then they might expand to other countries too (for now it sucks for the rest of us)

But the proof seems solid, and Gave and or anyone in Valve has not dennied the rumors being fake, so let's have some hope and maybe we can be buying Steam games with our Bitcoin soon, which is something I have been waiting to do ever since I got involved in here.

If this ever happens, my in-game items on dota 2 would probably taste some boost given that I rely only on betting to get more items. Also, this might boost Steam sales and also a good promotion given that most people nowadays are already looking for other alternatives to buy steam games/items other than using PayPal or other credit cards

That's good to hear. It won't be useful to me though as I never bought any steam related products but I read that it's again for USA only. Even earlier coinbase introduced their debit card for USA. What about other countries then? USing VPN always won't be helpful.

And what if Steam detects it and disabled the keys or other products bought from it's website? There can be a risk too. It's better to buy from steam when they do accept payments from other countries as well.

Well, i think it's not worst. I mean Steam games has big market on gambling, like Dota 2 and CSGO. if steam really accepted bitcoin, i'm sure dota2lounge and csgolounge will accept bitcoin soon.

The time will come when all the big companies will start to accept bitcoin, and the stimulation come in effect when not a big but a father company joins it, where the competitors to it a smaller in strength. Then the remaining start to follow the father’s methods.

I heard already it has started accepting bitcoin. Even now if it accept starts accepting it is a good news for gamers as well it will increase users. People who were not into bitcoin but into steam will know about Bitcoin.

Actually the highest usage from Bitcoin can Steam get from countries where paypal and credit cards are hardly used. I dont expect much United States Steam users pay with Bitcoin when they have other convenient methods to pay and are used to. But interesting option to pay Steam games for anybody who already has Bitcoin - I might pay with Bitcoin to just support Bitcoin even though I can pay with other payment options without problem.

not really, those guy that you see on g2a selling for cheap are using the trick to buy russian game that are cheaper and sell them via vpn or gift etc...

or they simply received the code for a game for frre because it was included in a card, or it come for free because it was an expansion of the original game etc...

Also steam account's are still pretty easy to hack, mine got hacked a while ago and i lost my csgo skins.
I even had the safeguard thing on, some russian got in to it:S

Yes i think so.I've heard it and i've read it on some sites online specially on reddit.Steam will acept bitcoins  in future maybe a month or two from now.Maybe because there are gamers who is also bitcoin users who is requesting to steam that accept bitcoin so maybe because of too many demands they approve it and they will accept bitcoin payments.

right now you can easily open up steam website or their market to purchase something and see that they have added the bitcoin icon to their list of all payments alongside credit card,...

In our country here in philippines, in our wallet, (Coins.Ph) They accepted bitcoin as a mode of payment for League Of Legends RP, Steam Codes, etc. So i'm glad that i use coins.ph :)

In the philippines we already using bitcoin to buy some credits for our steam wallet, I hope that bitcoin will be more popular so it will result for expanding it's availability.

Bitcoin is becoming more popular and that is really nice for the currency and Steam is already accepting Bitcoin so that is really nice so you can spend it more and Steam can earn also more money.

Well, yeah, it has already started accepting bitcoin a few weeks back. And it is great to see any new merchant to start accepting bitcoin, whether it is a large merchant or a small merchant.
