Title: Looking to sell 7BTC
Post by: sidehack on February 09, 2016, 01:15:13 AM
I have some coin I'm wanting to unload. I can take PayPal from someone reputable (I'll eat the fees) or a bank transfer (United States).

Currently available: 0.0BTC

I would like to match the going rate, preev or bitstamp or coinbase or what have you. They're all about the same. I'm not interested in haggling.

EDIT: I am out of coins, and weary of jackasses. Do not bother asking if I'll sell you coin. Don't bother. I won't reply, because I won't sell you coin. Thread is done.

I can take up to the whole 5 BTC at coinbase rate tomorrow morning when the bank opens, since I'm pretty sure I'm to noob for you to do PayPal.  I prefer to do a cash deposit into the account to avoid wire transfer fees but it really depends on what bank you use.

did you not care to look to see why that was left? had nothing to do with deals like this..
how are you supposed to grow rep when no one will deal with you? i offered id+ face ..same as paypal and all.

I'm looking to clear about two grand in coin. I would prefer to do this in as few transactions as possible, because time doesn't grow on trees. But a 12 user with -2 trust I'd risk maybe $50 on, and I would rather not deal with 1/8 coin transactions. Maybe some other time.

If you change your mind.
I am willing to do whatever you literally ask.
ID + Myself holding.
Just ID
Send payment as gift.
Whatever you want. 15% rate.
But that is your choice.

I do not get how people think someone can grow their rep if no one will deal with them (and the only rep on me is some faggot complaining about me asking for a loan at one point)

To note - I don't ship any products until they've been paid for, unless I know you well and we've been doing business a long time. Same applies here. I won't send coin until it's been paid for, unless I know you well.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense because if a bad character was out to bend you over... they'd send the PP first and then reverse it later.

A good character wouldn't want to run the risk of dealing with PP customer support in order to reverse a nonpayment of BTC transaction.

However, it's your thing and I respect how you want to do things!

Good luck :)!

I can take 0.1 via PayPal if that's ok? I know I'm not a "reputable member" quite yet but I've been dealing with "Sardasa" via PayPal for a while now if you need someone to ask if I can be trusted.

If not then no problem I'm just trying to get feedback on my account so I can deal easier and get that elusive green number  :)

So you ended up loosing ~ $214? Payment got reversed w/o even you being given a chance to prove your side of the story? Was that a gift payment and not goods and services?

Pretty much. Bend the rules once in two years, get scammed once in two years. I was not aware a transaction reversal could be that fast. Whenever I've needed PayPal's help it took frikkin' weeks. Had a claim filed on me once because I didn't ship extra stuff that the idiot didn't pay for - he thought he did, but sent his payment to an account that very obviously didn't exist instead of where I told him to pay. I really don't like idiots. Or dishonest people. Oftentimes dishonest people are also idiots. So, new rule. No noobs, and no idiots.

So, new rule. No noobs, and no idiots.

This should have always have to be your rule when you were accepting PayPal.
Edit: What was the PayPal account he sent payment from? We should list it i open so that no one else should accept payment from that id.

4% under rate (plus 4% fees) isn't great, but yeah it does beat 100% under rate.

Title: Re: Looking to sell 7BTC
Post by: sardasa on February 25, 2016, 10:32:35 PM
Yeah, I know. Sorry for your loss.

If you deal a lot using PayPal then it's worth to apply for Merchant rate's and then you'll get 0.5% discount on fee charged by them and probably can start accepting payments as goods and services rather than gift (even that can be charged back though).

Title: Re: Looking to sell 7BTC
Post by: sidehack on February 25, 2016, 10:45:25 PM
Most payments are sent as goods and services. I always used to calculate 3% loss to PayPal, but it looks like they upped it to 4% in the last year or so. Can't imagine why, not like they have much for costs. I've been doing regular business on there (through eBay and direct sales) for going on four years.

Your rates are good Plus the communication

i just cant understand why people do shit like this

maybe

The love of money is root of all evil but the lack of it still makes you evil

Title: Re: Looking to sell 7BTC
Post by: sidehack on February 26, 2016, 01:46:25 PM
Not necessarily. I take home about $50 a week once the bills are paid and have been fairly broke for most of my life but I like to think I'm not evil. It's not lacking money, it's wanting more money than you have and being willing to compromise ethics to get more instead of working for it. The midwest is full of decent folks who lack money. Props, though, for getting the quote right - most people attribute money as the root of all evil, rather than the love of it. Money itself isn't evil - money is just a tool for trading one thing for another.

Anyways, I think the rest of the coin is spoken for.

I am looking to buy some bitcoins. If he sells with some discount from market price it would be more possibilities for immediate sell off his bitcoins. Yes, good rate+good communications are better parts of a deal to go complete.

Some people have the audacity and shamelessness to offer paypal despite having zero trust. OP clearly stated "trading with reputable members".

The sheer audacity. It's probably in their genes. A waste of space on this planet and an affront to the human species. That's what they are.

Title: Re: Looking to sell 7BTC
Post by: sidehack on April 06, 2016, 10:14:38 PM
Right, that question hasn't been answered here yet. In my case, it's because Coinbase has been putting me through the paces with I've lost count on how many "identity verification" exercises. I think the next one probably involves DNA samples and notarized letters from my high school principal. In any case, I don't have all day to jump through their hoops and I'm hoping to have the paperwork sorted next week, but "next week" is noticeably later than I'd like to be spending some of this money and unfortunately my supply houses don't take bitcoins.

Have you tried circle? Much easier verification compared to coinbase. If you have a PayPal debit card you can even add that and withdraw, takes 2 - 3 days for the $ to show up in your PayPal account. Much safer then dealing here and having to worry about chargebacks for the next six months.

All out of PayPal funds now but if you have anything on Monday, let me know as I'll be able to buy up to around $800 worth.

I am interested in purchasing some bitcoin if available. I am a new member here, but lengthy history with coin base and circle. (Accounts still active and in good standing if that helps with any kind of verification) Being new here I understand some methods will be preferred over others due to risk and I have no problem using any reasonable preferred method. I am more of a collector/investor as I feel bitcoin has a very profitable future so there is no rush on my end although I would like to gain some trust with the community. Thank you for your time.

Hi Sidehack, I like your hardware projects.

I want to trade with you but since I am in Europe now and you are in US i guess so i cannot do a bank deposit in a US bank right now. I had BofA back then but it is not a doable method right now. WU or MG are out of the equation due to the fees i guess.

So the optimal deal I can offer is to send you 200 Euro LeuPay.eu funds for 0.5479 BTC right now preev.com rate and you can transfer that to your bank account from the LeuPay system or you can get a Leu debit card in 3-4 days and use the funds or withdraw.

By any chance do you have an EU bank account to do SEPA?

Anyway I am sure we can figure out how to help each other somehow...

Cheers!

Yeah I've experienced similar. PayPal's terrible at handling the situations too. Either they roll dice to see who wins, or the people who look into the disputes just skim over it in half a second, see if evidence is given on either side, and then clicks red or blue.

Not really worth it on my side, not only for my rep, but my actual PayPal account too. (Yeah, I value it (yes, a positive number) ;D)

Sorry about your loss again.
You got his address on the transaction?

Hello, I have asked this question before but haven't got a reply.
Will you eat the fees for someone like me? Am I reputable enough is what I'm saying.

Everything I got is right there. I'm hoping it's a hacked account (the guy's been doing favorable business for several months), but I found no evidence of this in Scam Accusations.

You know what, screw alla y'all. Three years in the bitcoin economy and I didn't get hosed once until I came knocking in this Currency exchange board. Twice in six weeks. Guess now I know where all the bastards hang out, and why nobody in the friggin' world will take bitcoin seriously. Don't expect to see me back here again. Nice way to treat someone who's made a meager living workin' 60 hour weeks to serve the bitcoin community for the last two years.

If you don't have his address on the transaction then you can't even challenge the dispute.
You should've been more careful after you got scammed once.

Well, mistakes made at the end of a 14-hour work day doing stickminer repair and assembly. To an account with a handful of positive trusts and no negatives, both sent and received. Not like a fresh account with zero history, and the last several people he did business with didn't have anything to complain about. I guess we'll see where it goes.

Paypal for BTC is tough.  I've had friends get pwned via Ebay, Localbitcoin and here doing BTC -> PP.  It isn't just this forum.

Accepting PP for BTC is just one of those things that you shouldn't do with strangers.  (even with ppl who aren't strangers sometimes!)

Sorry to see you go and all I ask is that you please be sure to release escrow upon verifying what I sent you yesterday.  <3

Use the losses to fuel your fire to do good.  There is a seed of good in every bad thing.

I can't believe you've done as many BTC -> PP deals here and elsewhere without problems.  Don't be overly shocked if you do get pwned with more chargebacks from past deals :(... no worry about the funds from me via PP of course. (Reverses can happen MONTHS later)

But to be fair, the user that had a pretty decent trust:
Quote
He sold me BTC for my Paypal funds, I went first. Fast and efficient user. Thank you.
Quote
Held 10 BTC in escrow for this user (part of the dustdice sale)

It was just unlucky - but being scammed once you should've tried to involve a middleman/escrow (I have no idea how to involve an escrow for PayPal) Or just done something safer.
I don't know.

If you going to trade again, I will be interested.

He couldn't scam him because he sent BTC.

The scammer didn't hold BTC... they put 10 BTC in escrow.

Middlemen/escrow doesn't work for BTC -> PP because BTC goes to escrow... person A sends PP... person B confirms the funds... Escrow Agent releases BTC... person A reverses.  Maybe if the escrow agent held the coins for a year :P.

I've only done maybe five BTC-to-PayPal sales with "strangers", so that two of 'em were scams does not read well for the exchange side of the community.

I don't need more seeds for good. All I got is seeds for good. What I need is capital and to not be robbed of it when I'm trying to use it for affordable no-contract hosting, server PSU breakout board manufacture and community-centric miner dev. Grumble grumble. Anyways, let's see how this plays out. There's a short list of people I trust so next time I need anything I'll come to you. Everyone else who might be trustworthy, sorry but the vipers in your midst (and the flood of messages from people who didn't bother to read and contemplate my conditions in the first post, which is more annoying than malicious) have soured this experience. I won't say it's not partially my fault, and how hilarious would it be if, by chance, the twenty-odd n00bs I ignored were all stand-up citizens and the two I did not were the only scammy scammersons? Probabilistically unlikely, but not impossible. So to all the trustworthy n00bs just trying to get ahead, try somewhere else and leave me alone. And to all the scammers just trying to get ahead, go get a f$@%ing job you lazy dickwheels and leave me alone. Some of us have bills to pay and no resources to waste funding your Thursday night beer run. So piss off, ya wankers.

But yeah, some of yous guys are alright. I'll probably talk to you again in the future.

That's why you go to high rep users for these kind of trades and you pay a little fee. If you want 1:1 or a premium you'll have to navigate through the scam attempts.

I can take PayPal from someone reputable

And this is why I don't take risks on newb members - because when I try and do something nice the paypal transaction gets reversed inside an hour. Looking at you, essaouira82 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=548514). Thanks for having the gall to ask for a second sale.

I'm sorry for your loss buddy especially as you're trying to raise funds for an affordable small home miner and you're a real credit to this forum.

Sorry for your loss, dear Sidehack, I had them too but this is the exchange life but we have to keep moving forward (Credit goes to Rocky 3 w/ S. Stallone)...

Anyway I can send you $120 Neteller now if you are interested. I have a REAL Trust if you check me around and I can send you screenshots of my ID VERIFIED account.

No thanks everyone. Like I said, I'm out. I've made up a short list of people I trust and everyone else is pretty much out of luck.

Wow. I'm so sorry this happened to you. The email seems to be for a restaurant with a really racist name. It's been out of business since the 50's. Here's a retro website...

http://www.skagitriverjournal.com/wa/king/business/coonchicken1-stapp.html (http://www.skagitriverjournal.com/wa/king/business/coonchicken1-stapp.html)

I'm looking around to see where the connection is to the restaurant (if any).

Alright since we the 'others' are 'out of luck' then please lock this thread!
