I was in the Ripple Git prior to open source under the name datzzy invited by Jed Mccaleb. Jed pushed barely anything and pissed me off. Stellar failed because Jed only cared about himself as a person, as evident by his false good feeling credos and lack of adherence to the "equal opportunity" he promotes. Sure he lets you push, without pay or licensure of anything he's built upon. He is an expert at deferral which means that non proprietous people are compensated by pushing anything that gets over a superficial plagiarism check. In short, people at Stellar pushed errors just to "be different" and mock viable people based on prestigious affiliation that did not translate to property ownership.
