Bitcoin Classic Release Announcement
We are happy to announce Bitcoin Classic version 0.11.2, the first release of Bitcoin Classic.

If you installed beta 2, there are no changes except for the version number.

About this Release
This is the first Bitcoin Classic release, focused on doubling the transaction capacity of Bitcoin.
It includes a consensus rule change that increases the block size limit from one megabyte to two megabytes.

Bitcoin Classic 0.11.2 is based on Core version 0.11.2, and is compatible with its blockchain files and wallet.

Roadmap
Our next release will be based on Bitcoin Core version 0.12, and is expected to be ready in the next weeks.

In parallel, we will focus development on features that have been requested by miners and companies for a long time now, and that will help Bitcoin scale on-chain:

Faster block validation
Faster block propagation
These features will help alleviate bandwidth issues tremendously, and will make sure nodes & miners can continue to operate properly, without requiring super fast connections.

More importantly, this will enable Bitcoin to scale to a much higher transaction volume.

We would like to thank everyone who helped realize this

- Jeff Garzik

Feel free to delete this comment, but doesn't this belong in Altcoin discussion? As basically Bitcoin classic is an altcoin until a consensus proves otherwise

You seem confused about what an altcoin is and what a bitcoin client is.

It depends from your meaning of "consensus", than it is probably not the same as mine.

Consensus to me is a status that happens directly "on the network", not something outside on some "special rooms" with some special persons/devs.

Anyway, I know that Theymos has probably a different idea about this, he has full power on his forum, he will make his choices.

@Mickeyb
For what it's worth, I think that Theymos opinion is wrong :)

Well he seems pretty tolerable about staff's decision, specifically you, if I had someone heavily disagreeing with me and discrediting me at every step I'd have long removed them from staff. No offense meant, but thats common sense to me.

I wonder though, is going for every new fork that important to you? I'm pretty happy with bitcoin as it is, but as it seems some apparently disagree with..... something.... Oh well I'mma getting too offtopic.

I'm less interested in the node count and more on if any classic blocks start getting mined.  That will tell us if miners really are willing to switch.  Disappointing that these threads end up in altcoin forums when classic right now is just a alternative client.

Another altcoin with a self modded topic at bitcointalk ...

Just my 2cents: a hardfork is the wrong way.. but this is elsewhere to be discussed.

seeing Gavin and Garzik beeing involved this does sincerely not belong into the Alts section, since it's all about Bitcoin and nothing else.

by the way I am totally exspecting all of these confusions to get settled bevore the halving, outherwise could ruin the whole year of 2016

So, the only difference between classic and Core is the block size increase, right?

It is a new client to Bitcoin focused on doubling the transaction capacity. You can see it as an improvement to Bitcoin.
On your case you could are confussed because you see more coins called bitcoin-anything else, Those all are alts. So developers need necessarily to name classical or original to first Bitcoin as in this case. It is based on the original blockchain but while  they come to agree many peoples will call to this hardfork or altcoin maybe, But the end is a client for the same Bitcoin Classic. Regardless of this little disagreement about  If had to be listed on alt sections or not, Personally I think that it is fine so more peoples will know that even BTC  can be improved to provide better service as may be required and improvements are not exclusive only to Altcoins.

You are welcome,

I only want that you keep clear that those are "improvements" to Bitcoin created for Satoshi Nakamoto.

So it is a summary according to :          https://coin.dance/nodes
Inside of that site you can watch a brief description of each one.

Bitcoin core               nodes        4116
Bitcoin classic            nodes        803
Bitcoin XT                 nodes        155
Bitcoin Unlimited         nodes        58

The rest of  anothers Altcoins named Bitcoin-anything else but those all are  different to above listed for example its have another algo, supply, block reward, etc.....  A example Bitcoin Scrypt, Bitcoin Ultra, Bitcoin Plus, Bitcoin Fast, etc , the latter mentioned  are effectively Altcoins.

They're all working on the same blockchain at the moment. Begging your pardon for my idleness, perhaps you can save me from the chore of finding out myself but  ... do all the programmed changeovers occur simultaneously or are they staggered? And are they mutually exclusive? (And I guess, if they are, will they remain that way? But that's just idle speculation)

Cheers

Do not worry about that.., there is nothing to forgive however I think it's better redirect your question to
someone more appropriate to respond I could give my point of view but this only would  be more the result of speculation and it be very limited and approximate.
