Title: Butterfly Labs ASIC Single SC Comments
Post by: teodor87 on January 12, 2013, 04:14:14 AM
Has anyone actually used the thing?

I want to buy one to try how it works. However I accept any advice that you can give.

Thanks.

They have not shipped yet.

Hopefully with in the next month someone will be able to respond with a YES.  Until then the previous two posts stand.

I've seen these being touted as the next big thing in mining, I cannot wait until they have them in hand.

BFL is thinking the same thing I'd bet  :-\

I've been thinking this since i pre-ordered! We are getting closer though.

But there is also thread accusing them potential scam (Only accusation/suspiction with peripheral "evidence"). Guess it is a little bit too good to be true, so naturally people would doubt. Both sides has their own merits.

Have you pre-ordered? Then you aren't likely to see product before the end of March.  The last update had a bit about someone submitting a preorder on Jan13, MIGHT see their product by mid-march. If you wait till they start shipping (week of Feb 10th, supposedly, but I'm not holding my breath), I would expect you wouldn't see anything until mid-late April, depending on how their assembly process ramps up.

BFL_Josh - 02-18-2013 06:25 PM -- Ok, I just got a call.. I guess the guy that we normally talk to is off for Presidents Day... forgot it was a holiday today, so that's why we haven't gotten a call back from
him. We have a call in elsewhere, but it's getting a bit late now. However, presuming the chips are done tomorrow, we'll be able to test the chip out before it's packaged, so we should know pretty much everything we need to know fairly soon and start the process on the other 6 wafers and the bulk of the chips after that.

Do you smell the coffee?

I actually called Butterly Labs yesterday on the phone an spoke with a Mr. Dave...

I asked him when I could expect to receive my 60GH/S if I preordered right then and there and he quoted me with "sometime in May"

I'm not sure what the Mining landscape will look like at that point in time and have been reading a few threads about the long and troubled process of getting the hardware out the door.

Perhaps I'll look into the third batch of Avalons or wait until Butterfly's are out in the wild and are proven to be worthwhile.

I'm cautiously optimistic though. What an exciting time!

Lets just hope they come out very soon. Avalon is monopolizing the hash's right now.

I've lost more money on so called real money making programs.  $150 - $1300 is not to much to spend on mining.  I just hope they ship soon!

To be honest, I'm only aware of 2 Avalon units out in the wild. ASICMiner has a big setup at about 3TH. BFL are currently at the bumpping phase of the project so... I don't think anything is going to change much in the next week or two.

However it will change dramatically when BFL starts shipping, since their first batch (of appx 6-7k chips) will account for 40TH dropped onto the network. (approximately). Then a soon to follow batch (of abbout 10 days delay) will drop another 40-50TH onto the network. Maybe more.

Pretty soon 4.5GH will look like 250MH.  :o

Closer to what is the question. Something has to give...  ;)

Or 500+ MH/s, given the near tripling of BTC purchasing power in recent times. :)

I have a few SC on order - hoping they'll arrive soon. Josh from BFL said today that shipment before June is very likely.

Closer to the point where demand for refund exceeds new orderīs value and BFL site goes off for maintenance. Should occur about March 15. It is embarrasing to see every poop of hot air acclaimed in BFL forum. Reminds me of Iphone rollouts, but Iphones are real at least.
