Title: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook (Site closed) Post by: blockbet.net on January 13, 2013, 12:11:21 AM Hi folks,
I'd like to let you know about our new Bitcoin sports betting site www.blockbet.net (http://www.blockbet.net) and invite you to try out sports betting with us. We've been working really hard on the site these past few weeks and while there's still a lot of work to be done, I'm happy to say that betting works as intended, and while the interface isn't anything fancy, it should at least be clear and simple to use. We update our selections and odds many times per day, as well as handle payouts quickly. We don't ask our customers to register, and we're not interested in holding on to their bitcoins. You make a bet using the easy to understand form, pay your bet to the provided address, and if your bet wins you get paid directly to your (or any) Bitcoin wallet. I believe that our betting odds are quite fair in comparison to many other sportsbooks around the Internet and competition can only be good for the industry. At the moment we have NBA, NFL and NHL games and European football leagues, as well as international competitions. I know there's a lot of suspicion towards new Bitcoin businesses, so people feel free to start betting at 0.001 BTC to see how it works and never bet any more than you can afford to. I hope you guys take a moment to have a look around the site, and we would definitely love to hear your feedback through the Contact Us form or this forum. There are a lot of Americans on this forum, are you familiar with the decimal odds that we use? It's very simple, you just multiply your bet with your odds to get your possible winnings, like 3 BTC * 2.10 = 6.30 BTC. You should also note that we always list the home team first, this is so that we have a universal system that applies to all games on the site. We're open to requests about which leagues you would like to see, but at the moment we're focused on bringing you all the games from the biggest leagues around the world. We want to establish the core functionality first and then slowly add features without breaking anything, so stay tuned for updates and if you have any ideas they're more than welcome! I'm here to answer your questions and talk about whatever. We hope that you like our site and we're very excited to be taking your bets! -Paul from BlockBet.net (http://BlockBet.net) [edit] Update April 21, 2013: Alright guys, I think the time time has come for me to retire Blockbet. Obviously with the NBA and NHL heading into the playoffs and soccer leagues with their summer breaks, there will be less games to cover over the summer, and I've made nothing but losses on baseball up to this point. It's been a great experience and a lot of fun, but it's also been a full-time job with no days off, so a small break from everything will be welcome. Also the sportsbook game is a lot more crowded than it used to be, and let's face it, some of these new guys can offer more features than we do. I knew from the start that it won't take too long for guys with more technical knowledge and more time to invest to come along, and I wish nothing but good luck for them. The sportsbooks offerings are now a lot stronger that what they used to be, and I'm glad to have been a part of that process. I'm gonna stay involved with Bitcoin, I have a lot of faith in the currency. I also have a couple of other ideas that I want to work on, and I can't do that with Blockbet taking so much of my time at the moment. Hopefully one of those ideas will some day become bigger than what Blockbet could ever dream of being! I'll get to work on payouts from yesterday in a moment. Outstanding NBA bets (playoff series starting later today) will be returned. After that I'll probably shut down the site (server rent is almost finished anyway) and lock the thread. It's been a crazy ride with a lot of ups and downs, peaks and valleys, and a valuable learning process. So with that, I want to thank everybody for their support. Thanks for playing! -Paul Update: Site is now closed. Thank you for your support. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on January 13, 2013, 03:51:36 PM We got our first bet and first winner last night, somebody put 7.00 BTC on Miami Heat to win with -7.5 points, and came away with 13.44 BTC. Miami won the game 128 - 99.
Also we got a request for NFL spreads, we've got them now for todays games and all future NFL games. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: byronbb on January 13, 2013, 07:21:44 PM Very cool. Hope it goes well. I was thinking an exchange. in this format would be interesting. Good luck and dont get buried....

If so, I am willing to risk countless BTC. We will likely implement two, maybe three selection parlays soon. We probably can't do more because we can't afford to pay gigantic wins if they hit. Also the players will have to calculate the complete odds of parlays themselves. Teasers we can't do at the moment. We may sometimes have proposition bets but not for every game. We try to pick the most interesting games and players for those. For example, this weekend in soccer we had Van Persie to score (he did) and Messi to score a hat trick (he scored only once). For the Super Bowl and similar events we will certainly have many different bets available. You might want to submit your site to Mem's list: Thanks for the tip, will do that. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on January 14, 2013, 11:35:20 PM Can you get Asian Handicap odds for soccer matches? We've got plans to do -0.5, -1.5, -2.5, +0.5, +1.5, +2.5 handicaps for some games, depends on the games. Those odds will be posted closer to game starts. We probably won't do quarter handicaps at the moment. We now have more proposition bets, for example you can bet on LeBron James to score over 26 points tonight or Cristiano Ronaldo to score a goal tomorrow. NHL season will start this saturday and German Bundesliga will resume this week, and there is also the Africa Cup of Nations starting this weekend. So we have a lot of action coming up! Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: Marker88 on January 15, 2013, 02:54:47 AM Tennis? There's games every day, i would start using it more.
Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: mjester93 on January 15, 2013, 09:30:25 AM Do you plan on having spreads/totals for NCAA Basketball?
Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on January 15, 2013, 05:29:07 PM We'd like to cover NCAA and tennis games, but for the moment we'll maintain our current selection plus the three leagues we're adding this weekend (NHL, Bundesliga, Africa Cup of Nations). We want to make sure that we don't miss any games from those leagues before adding more. Tennis in particular is problematic because games are played throughout the day and announced match start times usually aren't anywhere close to actual start times. We could probably do major tennis finals, semi- and quarterfinals but no promises on those yet. Also we're still looking into Asian handicaps for soccer.
We've been receiving more bets each day, so I want to thank those already betting with us and encourage more players to give us a try! Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: byronbb on January 15, 2013, 09:26:12 PM Do you plan on having spreads/totals for NCAA Basketball? Pinnacle isnt even hanging NCAA totals except for big TV games. 5dimes, and other high-quality sportsbooks do, however. I was just wondering. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on January 16, 2013, 09:11:26 PM We now support parlay bets of up to 3 selections, you simply separate your selections with a comma, for example: 1,18,63
Parlay odds can be calculated by multiplying selection odds, for example 1.55 * 2.10 = 3.255. Parlays have to be from one league and different games. This is not the optimal solution but it works for now. We'll continue to work on the site and make it more accessible. I can confirm that there is one submission for Miami to win with -2.5 tonight. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: elgreco on January 17, 2013, 04:15:51 AM Perfect. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on January 22, 2013, 10:01:40 PM We've updated the site with a more modern look, as well as made many smaller adjustements around the site (and will continue to do so). I think it looks much cleaner now, and the information is easier to find. What do you think?
Of course the NHL season is now here, and we've got plans to cover every game played. You can bet on winners, handicaps, and total goals scored, and we'll have more soon, such as Player Specials for the NHL (Crosby to Score, anyone?). Sorry for the delay in answers to these... Perfect. One more thing, the pay address came up as an image on my iPad. I wasnt able to copy it, I had to manually type it into my wallet. That's a shame, but unfortunately I don't really know how to work around that problem. You could store the Bitcoin address for the league you want to play on your Bitcoin software so you don't have to type it every time you make a bet. Just make sure that it hasn't changed from time to time (though it will still come through). Have you though about an NCAA bracket pool? Thought about it yes, we'll possibly have it in the future but can't make any promises at the moment. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: mjester93 on January 23, 2013, 11:41:30 PM How come there's no NFL Pro Bowl odds up? Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on January 25, 2013, 08:46:00 PM How come there's no NFL Pro Bowl odds up? Nor do I see the Super Bowl props you said you were going to have. We originally didn't plan to cover Pro Bowl, but we do have a few odds for it now. Super Bowl odds will be coming next week. Has anybody considered offering reduced juice? Possibly even one VIG FREE game of the week? That would be quite the promotion! That might be too good of a promotion. I don't mind doing coin-flips for a few bitcoins, but if we offered that to all our customers, that could become very expensive for us very quickly, assuming that bets don't distribute evenly. Posting sports lines isn't an exact science, that's why there has to be some vig involved to ensure that we won't go out of business. Overall I think many of our odds are already much better than our competitors, for example NBA handicaps and over/unders are generally at 1.92/1.92, Player Specials at 1.91/1.91, as far as I know no other sportsbook offers odds that good. The best promotion I can offer at the moment is that we've upped the NBA score odd/even to 1.99/1.99 for a limited time. So a 1 BTC bet wins 1.99 BTC. That's a better return on investment than Satoshidice, if you just want to give our site a try. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: byronbb on January 26, 2013, 07:02:06 PM Ya the -108 juice on NBA is very good. Can I recommend/request Moneyline NHL? Ie OT included. This is the standard bet type for North American gamblers.
I noticed you don't have real time lines. If you needed a feed just sign up at pinnacle sports and request an API key in the settings. You can query their API once every 5 seconds for an XML odds set. Other suggestions would be a way to do multiple single bets all at once. You might even consider a login/deposit akin to that done by bitcoinvideopoker.com. Also option to make odds display in -110 style. Good luck. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: Marker88 on January 26, 2013, 08:57:44 PM A solution to your tennis problem is to just to stop odds at the beginning of each session. >.<
Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 02, 2013, 01:53:06 PM Site update: Betting with Bitcoin doesn't get any easier than this!
We've overhauled our betting process, and gone are the forms and numbers of the earlier version. Now, all games and selections have unique Bitcoin addresses, all you have to do is send your bet to the appropriate address, and your bet is automatically registered. Your winning bets will be paid back to the sending address, so please make sure that you can accept bitcoins there (some eWallets can't). Feel free to try it with small amounts first to see how it works. Also, guys, thanks for the suggestions. NHL games now have Moneyline selections as well. We are trying to come up with an easy way to display American odds, but for now there is a simple bet calculator that you can use to see how much any bet can win. Tennis will hopefully be added in the future. We're committed to improving the site, and while there is still a lot of work to be done, I think we're heading for the right direction with each update. Oh, and we've got plenty of bets already available for the Super Bowl. Winner? Number of touchdowns? Longest field goal? Interceptions? Most Valuable Player? D: We wanted to simplify the betting process into as few steps possible (just one step actually), so unfortunately that was one of the compromises we had to make. However I do have a couple of ideas on how we could make parlays work, so hopefully we'll have them back soon! As a new feature we have some "Mixed Doubles / Triples" on the front page, you may find some interesting combinations with good odds there in the meanwhile. There is now also a simple odds converter that can be used to convert decimal odds into American odds, hopefully that will make the odds seem a bit clearer. I also manually posted American odds to the Super Bowl, but we can't do that to every game. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: mjester93 on February 03, 2013, 03:38:47 AM About the parlays/teasers, if you had the vig at -110, it would be the same odds as Vegas or any other sports betting website would be. Obviously for MLs or props you can't have -110, but if totals/spreads you can. Just a suggestion.
Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: ThaddeusB on February 03, 2013, 08:39:26 AM I noticed you don't have real time lines. If you needed a feed just sign up at pinnacle sports and request an API key in the settings. You can query their API once every 5 seconds for an XML odds set. BlockBet's main competitor is just a Pinnacle clone. No one needs two Pinnacle clones, so it would be a competitive mistake for BlockBet to go that route. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 05, 2013, 06:58:18 AM Super Bowl Sunday was a busy day for us, with over 50 bets placed and a total of over 170 BTC paid to the winners. Big thanks to the players and congrats to all the winners! Make sure to check out our selection of games for the NBA, NHL and other leagues while you wait for the next NFL season to start ;)
Also I'd like to kindly remind people about our maximum bet size of 10 BTC, and that we maintain the right to void bets that go over that amount. I'm glad to see people are excited about Bitcoin betting and that they have such confidence in their favorite teams, but we've been getting bets of 20, 25, 30 BTC to single selections, and given the current exchange rate, that's a bit too much for us. This limit is for the players benefit, we want to make sure that all winners can get paid, even if they win all their bets. Thanks for understanding, hopefully we can raise the maximum bet size soon. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: byronbb on February 06, 2013, 09:13:41 PM I noticed you don't have real time lines. When you are a bookie, it is not a competitive mistake to have lines that are sharp. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 07, 2013, 05:11:04 PM Parlay bets are back! NBA and NHL pages have separate Bitcoin addresses for parlay bets and all game outcomes are numbered, as before.
Parlay bets can have up to three selections from different games from a league. You specify your selections as double digits at the end of your bet. Parlay bet odds are calculated by multiplying all selection odds together. Examples: Selections 03,08 for 1 bitcoin = 1.00000308 BTC Selections 11,23,70 for 0.1 bitcoin = 0.10112370 BTC Do you think that's easy enough? It's probably not the optimal solution, but I wanted to make it as fast and easy as possible without messing with forms any more. It's also important that it works as a single payment. There's plenty of NHL action tonight, so give it a try! Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: mjester93 on February 07, 2013, 08:43:35 PM Parlay bets are back! Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 10, 2013, 05:46:50 PM American odds are now available for all the games and outcomes. Let me tell you, that wasn't easy! Note that American odds are rounded numbers, payouts are still based on decimal odds, but the differences either way are very minimal.
Also once more a reminder about the maximum bet amounts, we've been getting some very large bets from the same source recently, so bets are only accepted up to 10 BTC per selection per player, anything more than that will be voided and returned. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 12, 2013, 01:53:58 PM Champions League games and UFC have been added to our selection, with more to come. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 14, 2013, 08:31:44 AM Payment is not automatic. This is why it sometimes takes 5 minutes, sometimes 2 hours, sometimes 12 hours. This is mentioned on our front page. You have to understand that we cannot be handling payouts 24 hours a day because people need to eat and sleep too.
If you're talking about yesterday's Champions League games, the payment was done in 10 hours after the games had finished. I understand that people can get worried about their bitcoins, but please be patient. We process payments always as soon as possible, there is no reason for us to withhold payments for any time. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: hi on February 14, 2013, 08:47:39 AM It is nice that you are in here explaining to me why you are unable to process my payment from tonights games.........thanks.

Try to understand that we get a lot of bets each day and night. Those payouts don't happen in a matter of seconds and there may be delays in the Bitcoin network as well. I have now processed all of yesterday's NBA and NHL bets in about 6 hours after the earliest match ended, so I don't think that time frame is unreasonable by any means. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: hi on February 14, 2013, 09:16:50 AM OK. I was under assumption that it was automatic.
Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 14, 2013, 11:21:27 AM OK. I was under assumption that it was automatic. Oh, I wish it was automatic, that would make my life so much easier! But there are so many modifiers involved and possible exploits, so I don't know if that's possible to do at the moment. I do agree that in general terms we can, and we should, make our payouts even faster. The idea behind the 12-hour payment is that, no matter what happens, we can process payments at least twice a day, and not give people unrealistic expectations. According to my recollection, we have never taken 12 hours to complete payments, and 10 hour delays have now happened twice, usually payouts are much faster than that. When it comes to the NBA and NHL, we prefer to process those games all at the same time once the last game has finished. If you look at traditional sportsbooks, they usually credit your account pretty quickly, so that you can make another bet. But if you want to spend that money elsewhere, you first have to make a withdrawal request that can take days to complete. So in that sense I think our 12-hour policy is quite good to the players. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: mjester93 on February 14, 2013, 06:40:55 PM An odd question, but do you think you'll have anything for the NBA All-Star weekend? Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: blockbet.net on February 15, 2013, 11:58:33 AM Nice to hear :) Rising Stars game is now online, as is the actual All Star game that's on Sunday. You can also bet on the MVP of the main game. And don't forget about the weekend's NHL games, we've reduced the juice for a bit to get more action there since the NBA regular season is having a break!
There was initially a mixup between East and West teams, it has now been fixed. Unfortunately that meant that we had to void and refund one bet that was already placed for the All Star game. Sorry for the inconvenience. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: hi on February 19, 2013, 09:47:35 PM blockbet.net works nicely. However, one big complaint.
You need to use a different address for each match. I am using the bitcoin wallet and when I send coins, the label part is auto filling in because I have labeled that address already. This is very annoying as it makes keeping track of your wagers in the transaction log more time consuming. Other then that it is pretty good so far! Now, if you would get NHL Team totals, first to score prop and puck line then I would not need to bet anywhere else. Currently bit365 offers NHL team totals and more options then blockbet :( Title: Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook Post by: haitispaceagency on February 19, 2013, 11:53:25 PM just to make sure i'm doing the parlay right, say I want BTC.2 on options 31 and 50, the amount to send would .20003150, right?

That wouldn't be too hard, and that's the games most people bet. Yeah that could be one way to do it. Just don't want people to get disappointed if their game isn't playable. We're updating the site again, so let's see if we can add that. You need to use a different address for each match. I am using the bitcoin wallet and when I send coins, the label part is auto filling in because I have labeled that address already. This is very annoying as it makes keeping track of your wagers in the transaction log more time consuming. Yes, this is the downside of our system. It's not really possible for us to create 100+ new bitcoin addresses every day because it takes a lot to maintain them. Now, if you would get NHL Team totals, first to score prop and puck line then I would not need to bet anywhere else. Currently bit365 offers NHL team totals and more options then blockbet :( We're adding more goal selections to the NHL today. However I don't think it's smart for us to try to add every option just because somebody else is doing it too, we try to stick to the most popular bets and avoid cluttering up the site. just to make sure i'm doing the parlay right, say I want BTC.2 on options 31 and 50, the amount to send would .20003150, right? Yes, but we didn't get such a bet yesterday. Instead we had 0.20000315, which was read as "03, 15" and that bet didn't win. Another bet was 0.2000055, which seems to include only one selection. I'll refund both of these for now. I know the system is a bit complicated but that's the cost for not needing an account to play. Thanks for the feedback everyone, keep playing! [edit] Wait a minute, maybe it's just my client that cut off the last zero on that parlay selection. In that case it's a winning bet! Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: blockbet.net on February 21, 2013, 12:37:37 AM Yes, in general, but we recommend users pay at least the default transaction fee when making late bets. Our official rule is that a bet needs to have at least one confirmation before match start (or at least soon after it). This doesn't usually take more than a couple of minutes to happen.
There have been a few cases when we've got very large bets hours afterwards, even after a match had ended, and there is currently no way to check for possible double spending on these, so those bets have to be voided for security reasons. We hope we can add at least Bundesliga soon to our selection. We've rearranged our site, offering more bets, but for the moment that also means that parlay bets are offline due to the increased number of bet options. Maybe our parlay system wasn't really good enough to begin with anyway. I agree in that aspect. As a bookie, Paul could seriously get messed up if he offers lines for some obscure cbb games that rarely people bet. A pro bettor would be all up on that—if the lines were correct. The way with televised games, however, Paul could be like "Hey, I'm only allowed bets on games that are on ESPN or on the ESPN family of networks." Something like that wouldn't be too bad. It's approximately 8-10 games per day. He could take another route, too, and instead take action on only top 25 teams until the tournament. Then there's no way he could add more games because it's only top 25 teams. Then all of course he could determine how he would like to go, depending on the action, the amount, and his profit. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: blockbet.net on February 21, 2013, 09:45:56 PM You guys do make some good points. The thing is, if we add NCAA, then there needs to be enough action on those games to make posting them worthwhile, and I'm not so sure if that is the case. Like you said, it's already easily more than 10 additional games per day to keep track of, and some people will still be disappointed if their favorite team isn't included.
It already takes a lot of time to update NBA and NHL due to the large number of games being played every day, and a lot of teams playing back-to-back. So I'm kind of hoping that people interested in basketball will find something interesting in our NBA selections. Another thing to consider is the unpredictability of NCAA games. Football is much easier to do in the sense that there is usually a limited number of games being played each week, so we can make odds available to play much earlier and they reach a much larger audience. I see your point. I'm guessing you're the only person working for the book? That can definitely be difficult, so I understand where you're coming from. At the moment I'm the only one working on lines and payments, but I get some help elsewhere. We don't exactly generate enough profit so that we could hire people to work for us, but maybe some day... That's why I'd like to keep the betting options to the most popular games that I know get action every day. We're slowly increasing the numbers of bets and leagues though. whats the cut off time for u guys, ex- 4:00 or 4:05, thanks guys gals i sent the wagers with tor , will that be a problem? For the NBA and NHL, five minutes past is fine because games don't actually start before that. For football and such, it's exactly at the announced time. Of course it's better to bet early than late if it can be helped. Transactions through Tor are fine as long as they get through in time. We've increased the minimum bet size to 0.1 BTC. Don't mean to discriminate anyone, but with the transaction fees, handling bets of 0.01 BTC just doesn't seem very meaningful. And we do recommend people use the transaction fees when making late bets to make sure the bets are confirmed before match start. Today's early games are up and the rest are coming shortly! Not sure if I mentioned it before but we've got today's UFC matches as well :) Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: hi on February 24, 2013, 03:54:09 AM The NHL Totals for games were only up for 2 games...what happened?

Yeah, sorry about that. So many games last weekend, I couldn't get the rest of them online in time for people to make bet. Of course we want to have as many options as possible but I think we have to admit that not every option is going to be available for every game. MLB season starts at the end of March, right? We'll cover it too since that's what people seem to want. Another "league" that we're adding next month is Formula 1 racing, so keep an eye out for that ;) is the max bet to win 10 btc or to wager 10btc, and some of my bets i sent it 10min b4 tipoff so far no problem, but is that cutting it close tho , whats the recommended time , thanks guys Max bet to wager is 10 BTC. Betting 10 minutes before game start is fine if you use the default transaction fee, which I recommend for everyone. No-fee transactions might take a few hours to confirm which could be too late. This is of course one downside of the system that is difficult to control when your transaction will be confirmed, hopefully future versions of Bitcoin will be better in that aspect. We're pretty flexible with the confirmation limit, I'm not going to void a bet if it's a minute or two late, but sometimes we get a bet once a game has already finished, so those kinds of bets cannot be accepted because there might be some foul play involved :/ Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: bitcoinsrock on February 25, 2013, 08:22:58 PM I'm really looking forward to baseball. What will the lines be like? For example will it be -120/+110 or -130/+110? It's a bit early to tell, frankly I haven't put a lot of thought into the MLB season yet. But the odds will be around the same margins as with our current games. No college basketball. Tragic. Sorry to disappoint, I know there is demand for it. But there are already a few upcoming leagues in our "budget" so I want to make sure that we can offer all the games from our current lineup before trying to offer everything else. It's still a fairly new site and I hope we'll have college basketball in the near future. err, i think i bet on the hawks-pistsons game like 20 minutes after it started, sorry. Don't worry about it, I paid it anyway this time since it was so early in the game - though that's strictly unofficial and in the future late bets will still be voided. I'll see if we can implement a system that would make games that have already started disappear, but so far the attemps haven't been compatible with the site. You beat me up good today. Went 0-fer. Need some reasonable baseball games and I'll feed you more. Yeah, there were some very strange scores yesterday on basketball, the point total lines weren't anywhere close... and 3 out of 5 hockey games going into overtime. I guess a lot of players were disappointed with the performances of certain teams, though of course there were plenty of winners as well. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: blockbet.net on February 28, 2013, 11:03:20 PM sent u a message regarding grading , thanks dude. Okay, here's what happened: The point line for the Cavaliers - Raptors game was originally 197.5, but once we got word that Kyrie Irving would miss the game, the line dropped to 194.5. Of course all the bets that had been made prior to that would still get the original line, as well as the bets that were made around the time that change went into effect (within 30 minutes of the change or so). About 90 minutes later there was one more bet for under, so I figured that the bettor was betting on the new line. But of course if you still had the original page open on your browser, you also saw the original line. The game finished at 195 points. So if that's the case it's a winning bet and I'll send you the full amount. We try to keep the point lines and odds as static as possible for this reason, but sometimes there needs to be small adjustments either way. For this reason the page should be refreshed every once in a while. Actually, this issue should be rather easily (and obviously) solved with an auto refresh script, so customers need not worry about it in the future. I'll get to work on it right away. Thanks for bringing up the issue! We'll cover it too since that's what people seem to want. Another "league" that we're adding next month is Formula 1 racing, so keep an eye out for that ;) MLB Season does indeed start soon. One sort of popular baseball bet that I don't know if you are comfortable offering yet is the pre-season World Series bet. Usually just the casinos and brave bookies offer it. I've seen exactly one World Series bet denominated in bitcoin so far and it is on Bitbet for the Cardinals to win, but because of bitbet limitiations it isn't scheduled to close until Game One of the Series is over though the Cardinals could be eliminated much before then. It's a bit late to open this sort of bet though, but if you could open them for next year this November it ought to be pretty lucrative for you. A standing World Series bet, odds revised as often as you need to for new bets up through the All Star Break might be workable though. Like mjester93 said it's recommended that you use the default transaction fee and it'll be fine. If you want to make no-fee transactions then you should bet a bit earlier. I don't use Blockchain myself so I'm not so sure how it works exactly. While I don't want to force any fees, I'm guessing that minimum-fee transactions are going to be more important in the future of Bitcoin especially for small amounts, like 0.1 BTC without a fee does sometimes take a really long time. So far I'm paying out all bets regardless confirmation times, win or lose, but that rule does need to be in place just in case somebody tries to take advantage of us.
Yesterday was a busy day, 14 matches in the NBA and most bets were winners... Congrats to the folks who made the right picks. Tonight there's only 2 games in the NBA, but great matchups nevertheless. Don't have to skip back and forth between games :) Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: haitispaceagency on March 08, 2013, 02:56:05 AM Thanks for clarifying that. (I have bad anxiety and 1.78btc is a lot to me). Anyone gotten paid for that game yet?

I got paid after the early basketball game Sunday but not the late ones.

Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: blockbet.net on March 18, 2013, 10:13:00 AM First of all, congrats to the winners. One of those days when almost every bet was a winner... Clippers, Timberwolves and Lakers were pretty good for the players yesterday.
I think it's normal to be a bit worried about every new Bitcoin business, so that's why it's good to look around for any customer comments and maybe start with a smaller amount. We get a lof of bets each day and especially on the weekends there are games being played pretty much around the clock, so that's why there are sometimes delays in payouts. Typically all NBA and NHL games will be graded a few hours after the last games have finished, so it can all be done in one sitting. Some games will be graded earlier if possible, always within 12 hours of the end of each game. March Madness should be live tomorrow when the games start :) Btw, BB, I have some comments about your site's code? What would be the best way to contact you about that? PM? I'll send you a PM. Interested to hear what it is. Probably the quickest way to reach me is through PM for any questions or comments. I guess that I'm the only one losing. >:( Sorry to hear that, but I guess the wins don't distribute evenly. Yesterday there were a lot of bets on the longshot underdogs, but not much luck with them... Except the 76ers probably should have won that game with 13.13 (+1213) odds. Not gonna lie, there was a lot of money on that game. I had some trouble getting sleep after it. Never seen anything like that before, Denver made 3 free throws with 2 seconds remaining to come from behind to win the game after Philly had missed two. some lines on the world cup qualifiers today would be nice. Somebody did though, if only a smallish amount. That's still more than a 8x return on investment, not bad... Win or lose Friday? What teams were bet the most? NCAA had pretty crazy action with a lot of ups and downs. I think almost all games had some bets on them. I guess that's March Madness... I'm glad half the teams are gone already :) In general it was a pretty good day, though it always comes down to a few games to determine if it's a winner or a loser (or break-even). I don't think there was any one game with most bets, but the big teams usually get a lot of action (Thunder, Knicks, Heat, Lakers, Pittsburgh Penguins etc.). Today's NCAA games are up, as well as the first NHL games. NBA will be live soon. Looks like no UFC tonight... And certainly the transaction fee does almost guarantee that there is no risk of double-spending.
I think I put a decent scare into you with Temple. Oh well, still got the points. Yeah games like that can be a nightmare sometimes. Like yesterday, Bobcats had a very brief lead over the Heat, I think it was almost 10 points they were ahead... Sure that didn't last long but still caught my eye :) thanks for being a grade A cunt Vettel! Webber's win would have brought home a return of 15x... Hoping you could cause I would like to put a little on who I think will win it all but no book seems to offer future lines at all.

No problems with bets just minutes before tip-off as long as you use the standard fee. If you want to bet without fee, then I'd recommend to send at least an hour before just in case, since it's not possible to predict how long the network will take with them. When it gets to the elite 8 or the final 4 could you offer lines for what NCAA team wins it all? You could put a max of like 1 or 2 BTC to prevent a major risk to the house. Hate it when coaches pull something like that, glad they didn't decide to rest Bosh as well... I was out of "the office" for a couple of hours yesterday so didn't have a chance to adjust the lines on that game before it was too late. Got lucky to escape from that one...
Somebody won quite a bit of bitcoins the day before on a similar play when Nowitzki scored a 3-pointer on the final seconds to give Dallas the win. And what's up with Chelsea anyway, first they lose to Southampton and then they beat United... MLB lines are online, basketball and hockey coming up a bit later. If you bet one bitcoin now, it may be worth a lot more or a lot less once the bet is resolved... And I don't want to hold on to people's bitcoins for such a long time. Like Atruk mentioned there are other sites that are good for futures. Futures for a short period (for example a short tournament winner) might be suitable for the site though. For MLB, do you plan on adding different total lines like you do for NHL? Sorry but no such plans for the moment, want to see how the baseball betting goes in general for now. What country? USA? Russia? You can have any odds and limits you want if you're gonna bet on somebody other than Putin to win :) I'm open to suggestions but like I said, I'm generally against long-term futures since the currency moves so much, and the situations may change drastically while I'm sleeping etc. I finally had a winning day and got even on the Lebron/Wade sitting routine. ;D Yeah no surprise that there was a lot of actions on the Knicks yesterday. I didn't want to drop their odds too low like some other betting sites, I figured that the Heat still have their chances since they beat the Spurs too with the same lineup. They did have the lead at half-time... Anyway I guess it's pretty even. Some guys had a pretty nice run on hockey and baseball yesterday as well, basically the only big game that let the players down was the Penguins who lost. When I saw that game going under 2.5 goals (guys couldn't score from anywhere, not even in the empty net), I already knew I was gonna take a big loss regardless of what happens in the other games. A lot of players have also been on a hot streak in the MLB and NBA games, so we're currently having a few consecutive days of losses, but that's what gambling is about - there will be ups and downs. We're not going bankrupt anytime soon even you guys keep winning, so no need to worry about that :) I have thought about lowering the limit, since bitcoins were about 25$ a piece when we first started, but let's see a few more days on how it goes. I would like to keep it at 10 since it's a nice, round figure, but we'll see. Obviously, if you're losing money because of it, then you'll have to lower the limit. But right now, you have the highest limit of any bitcoin book, and that's legit. Another thing, you guys thinking about lowering those 20-cent lines in MLB? BitBook.biz has 15-cent, and bitcoinsports.eu has 10-cent, which makes you (essentially) the 3rd option. Even most million-dollar multinational gambling sites won't accept bets that amount to thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars, at least not without approval from much higher. I won't be changing the MLB lines as long as I'm making a loss on them at current levels. Horse bets 2morrow? I'll try to improve in the consistency from now on since I know it's important for the players. Other than that, it's business as usual for us, I'm not too worried about the exchange rate or other bitcoin issues at the moment, still have a lot of faith in the currency. Really excited for the NBA and NHL playoffs to start soon, a lot of good matchups in the horizon. The Heat have been giving me some trouble when they keep resting their players and they still win with 6 guys out of the lineup, but once it's playoff time we can be sure that if the guys can stand on their feet, they'll play :) Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: pumawolf on April 18, 2013, 07:32:36 PM hahah, had a wager that took 1003 mins to confirm, with the fee too. the bet lost , if it won it still counts tho right? u go by sent time? this is just for future ref, thanks for reading mr block.

But the thing is, we can see that the bet was placed before tipoff, and there is a fee, so there's no reason not to accept it. Title: Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted Post by: blockbet.net on April 21, 2013, 09:53:22 AM Alright guys, I think the time time has come for me to retire Blockbet.
