We are created from atoms and cells.
Essentially we are just a sophisticated biological machine in which when one piece of matter moves or behaves in a certain way it creates a chain reaction.
A beautiful mathematical and biological orchestra of unfathomable precision.
Given enough time and resources every component that makes up our bodies and minds can be dismantled and explained through science.
So i ask again do you truly believe that you are alive?

What you wrote I've been pondering since childhood and it's crazy, isn't it?  Yes, I'm alive and it's amazing what results from unique combinations of arrangements of atoms and molecules.  Not sure where consciousness comes from.  That's what's always baffled me.

No. I've always had serious difficulty believing that I exist or that any of this is truly happening. I can't be arsed to explain why but that's how it's always felt.

Yes i believe i am truly alive. I am, and you are, made up of trillions of living organisms, yet they are all working together, as one body. The brain however, is what gives us feelings and emotions, which also gives the feeling of being alive. But, what truly makes you alive is the fact that everything you are made out of was once part of another part of the universe, whether it be from a gas cloud or the dust of an exploded star from the other side of the universe. This recycled matter is what truly makes us alive because it makes us one with the universe and with everything that exists. We are a living part of the universe, just as the cells that make up our bodies are living parts of us.

You are right, there is another reality asides the reality we know here on earth. It's called the spirit world...

There are numerous theories out there about us being alive. There's a theory that says that all of the things that we are seeing are just a simple simulation. There're also ideas that says maybe all of us are just using virtual reality to experience this "present life" and we're all just stored safe and sound in a building in a world that we don't know yet. We'll come back to that "reality" once we die in this "present life".

You can have more and more ideas about us being alive and you can consider the fact that every single part of us is explainable, but at the bottom line of all of those theories it basically says that somewhere we are, in fact, alive.

I am alive and I believe in that.  I am in pain sometimes, lonely, feel disappointed and terrible and wanted to be dead but seeing my dog Patchi and my cat Munang and seeing them doing their things makes my life alive.  Just find a reason to feel alive. 

Does it matter? Does it matter if we are truly alive? We were put in this world for no reason. Why don't we just enjoy it? We don't have to conduct experiments and have a bloody debate just to prove and disprove each other's points.

Does it really matter how you define your state on earth though? How does that knowledge/definition help you? By defining something, through experiments, science, philosophy, religion etc you are essentially reducing infinity to a mere container. It makes the world around you less intimidating but at the same time it places a huge burden on your shoulders.

I believe that I am alive and so are you. We can breathe, think, smile, move and many more. We have a brain and can make plans and decision. We also can feel love, pain, anger, the emotions that makes us feel alive. In addition to that, doesn't feeling happy about something makes you feel alive? When you don't eat for a long time you can feel if your hungry right? well in that case we are alive since you have your senses.

While you can still feel the pain you are still alive , and i can still feel the pain so it means i am still alive ;D wth this just like a sort of out of the box questions from a job interview . I had interesting discussion with Jehovah Witnesses the other day and they believe that death come to human world because of sin of Adam and Eve but originally, we should live forever and never die.
They believe that in the last days we will all resurrect and live forever, on the Earth.
Christians believe the same but they teach that our spirit is eternal, not body and that we will live in paradise.
Somehow, I more like first option :)

Not quite the same thing, but I sometimes have moments where I wonder how I'm alive. And not in a "I've done so much stupid shit, I should be dead right now" kind of way (though I have those moments, too). I mean that if you stop and really think about it, you shouldn't exist. You're made up of billions of cells all working together to keep you going. They live, they die, yet you remain until the day that you die. And yes, you're a multicellular organism, but at the heart of it are a billion cells that make you you. And these cells just work together to make you function. But somewhere along the line, you developed a personality and thoughts and dreams. That's not really required to keep you going, just look at a computer. If the basic function is to keep the majority of your cells alive, that can be achieved through simple actions. But you developed senscience. So if you're a billion cells working together, where is that housed? Yes, the brain, but where did the cells that make up your brain development self awareness? And if you're just made up of cells, then are you self aware or are some of those cells self aware?

It's weird when you think of it like that. In a sense, you don't really exist.

Yes, biologically speaking, we all are alive in the sense that we all breath and stil have life. But figuratively speaking, there are some people who are not alive. Why? Because I believe that there are instances that we see our lives as useless, worth less thing, thus, we make ourselves complacent on where we are. The only thing that I believe at this moment I am still in this forum, many things that make us confused why we live and die. Humans are created and live in the world, if seen from the side of the religion of course we are created by God. The thing that made me live when I was walking, I saw beautiful mountain scenery and made my heart happy then there I am grateful that it has witnessed so great nature and I believe that I live to witness the creation of god. I believe that biologically speaking, we are definitely alive and living. Our cells makes us a living organism that can reproduce, grow and develop, response, move, think, and etcetera. However, metaphorically speaking, some people do not feel that they are still alive. Not because they experience and feel so much pain, but because they are not feeling anymore the pain yhey are experiencing. I believe that this life is freely given to us to enjoy. With this conviction in me and the presence of the breath I believe am alive.

I think, therefore I exist. I believe that I am alive, as I am here now, typing this, breathing, feeling, and many more. I am sure that this is not a dream nor a simulation either. I believe this is real life, and that I exist in it, making me really alive as well.

Because I can understand your question and I often ask myself same question too. But the physiological aspects of life (senses, needs, reflexes) are the basic part of functioning, not life. I think that we are alive, because we have not found all the answers and life remains a big mystery and intrigue for us.
Our brain is a mystery, animals, plants are miracle, the universe is steeper than any fantasy.

I'm confused with the question. If you admit that we are "created" then someone created us, Who is the Creator. If this Creator exist, He is alive.  And because He is alive, He created us alive. Did I follow your logic sir?
