So recently (today) I was watching Deadpool. It's that cool ass movie that just came out. So at that cool little bar in the movie that Deadpool hangs out at there's something in the upper left corner that I barely noticed. It's a sign that says "Bitcoin accepted here". After seeing that, my jaw dropped. Bitcoin just made it into pop culture! It's pretty awesome seeing this in such a popular movie! Pretty awesome stuff.

I think the people behind the movie didn't had a clue of what Bitcoin accepted here means(if they even noticed it).  :D I haven't seen the movie yet, but I am planning to do so as people say it's a great movie. I think the more popular Bitcoin gets, the more we will see it being shown in movies.

I hope this is a sign that bitcoin getting more and more popular. I haven't seen one in real life in my home town so hopeful it will appear soon.

I think the writers or producers also make Silicon Valley so it's not gonna be unintentional.

Definitely a sign that we are entering the era of Bitcoin/digital currency. You will soon be able to see it everywhere!

Maybe someone can screen grab that scene when that Bitcoin accepted sign was shown and make it trend somewhere in the social media. That way maybe people will start asking what it is.

Good idea maybe in the near future we can read hollywood celebrities accepting bitcoin as payment,that would be nice by then adoption is on very high level and many local artist in every country will do the same too..

Hope year 2016 mark the return of bitcoin. The price has been depressed for a long time now, too long.

Bitcoin is an american movie. Now based on my own data about 100% of the Americans around me have heard about bitcoin. Thus I'd say that yes, chances are that they knew what it meant and that it might even have been made on purpose. Now I'm planning to see this movie but I haven't yet, so I can't really say anything for sure.

Bitcoin has been in other movies too, like Dope and also series like The Blacklist and also The Simpsons. So this is not new. I think you will see much more of this in the near future, because it's becoming more mainstream and the Bitcoin merchants are quite common these days.

There are Bitcoin wallets depicted on the TV show Almost Human but sadly it got canceled.

Glad to know you spotted it which suggest that you have great positive feelings towards bitcoin like me. I am planning to invest or just buy and hold bitcoin for now because bitcoin seems to get accepted in all places where mastercard are accepted.  :)

i'm glad to know that bitcoin is mentioned in deadpool movie, even thought just in a minute, but at least people watch that movie and realized that bitcoin was there, it seems like free promotion,

Although base on the situation, I think it was there only unintentionally, nevertheless it's still somehow a showcase for BTCitcoin (if audience notice it) and seeing some movies and popular tv series use BTCitcoin intentionally for few minutes and seconds on their shows, it just shows how it has been noticed by people in general and it gets bigger and bigger as we go by.

I read this in Reddit and that the guy playing Weasel, the dude from Aviato (Aviaaato) is a Bitcoin fan or something? Maybe it's a inside joke I don't know but it was a nice touch (I didn't see the movie though, just commenting on the fact).

Its time for bitcoin to enter the next level of growth. This time its the perfect plan. Even a normal man when comes in a man gets popularity. So now bitcoin would reach a lot of people and adoption increases.

That's pretty cool. Could you tell if the scene was shot on an actual RL location/bar or was if it was a Hollywood set? If the bar was a created set, then the bitcoin placement was probably intentional. Either way, still cool.

My jaw dropped also watching the movie Dope as I hadn't known beforehand that bitcoin was going to be in the movie. It wasn't just a passing mention either, but a significant part of the ending plot twist. I was like, Holy shit, nice.

i'm not yet wathcing Deadpool,and still looking for time to watch it,and thanks for sharing this,its pretty awesome,bitcoin come to hollywood ;D and make me wonder,how ften "bitcoin accepted here" mentioned in that movie.

Hopefully after this incident more people will notice bitcoin, I havent watched the film yet, but for sure i will watch it and ask my friends to pay attention at that scene

It is likely that TJ Miller is a fan of bitcoin considering the amount of Bitcoin references in Silicon Valley. But at this point it is nothing more than subliminal message.
Normal people not associated with bitcoin are not gonna spot that sign probably. Interesting Easter Egg for sure tho.

I doubt if it was anything more than accidental. I watched the movie and didn't notice it. Still, go an watch it if you can, it is a fantastic and refreshing movie - but only if you're an adult.

Bitcoin is being popular more and more. It was also mentioned in some tv series like izombie and family guy. When griffin was asked how they can solve their financial problems, he responded, "Bitcoin".

Heard of the show before but I am not really into watching movie. It is always good to see Bitcoin "featuring" in the movie - even though it is just a small scene. I'm not sure if this will affect Bitcoin much but I am very sure that Bitcoin is getting more and more recognized by people as a currency or investment.

Yeah Bitcoin is getting more and more into mainstream.

the movie "dope" (2015)  didn't get as widespread attention but the whole premise was around being forced to sell drugs for bitcoin and such.  much more bitcoin mentions then one unnoticeable sign above a bar in a random scene.

If you can barely noticed the sign "Bitcoin accepted here", I doubt others would. :P
Anyway, I hope there is a new comic from Marvel about Bitcoin... :-)

This seems to be just an oversight, it's not as if the camera specifically focused on the sign or anything.

I find that it's pretty funny :D. I think that this will motivate me to watch this movie just to see this ;D !

I didn't see that one yet, I've read good reviews but didn't know it revolved around Bitcoin, sadly (and I'm sure it was not the film makers intention) it sounds like it ties Bitcoin with drugs, so more negative press even if any intelligent people would understand it's not BTC fault. However the association is just to engrained into society's mind eye, that's why I always say that Bitcoin will never be picked up by a huge serious company or business, they are only after the blockchain.

wow, really? This may impact both for bitcoin and its users. deadpool is currently a hot movie again be discussed in public, even where I work, so maybe it could make bitcoin be famous  ;D

this is make me really want watch deadpool soon,i know this gonna be happen somtime,hollywood with their want or not,have open the door for bitcoin entrance to this industries.

Yes, this is a good thing indeed, as mentioned it means bitcoin is entering mainstream pop culture and not just the realm of computer geeks.

Also, I fail to understand why all the replies thinking the placement of the sign in unintentional. Unless it is a super low budget film (think handheld camera type), every scene is filmed on a set. Checking online quick, seems the budget for the film was around $58,000,000, so scratch off low-budget. This is not a real bar, thus everything you see on camera was placed there for a purpose and approved by the director and prop personal. No, the bitcoin sign's placement was very intentional.

No pictures up yet, as far as I've seen... Do I really have to go watch it now? haha ;D

i didn't watch the movie yet but this is a cool thing to see in realy good inticipated movie

maybe it was a store in real life and not just a set lol. and they actually did accept bitcoin in real life. i doubt the producer put it there.

I haven't watched it yet but I will look out for it now and will try to search more on it, which bar it was, was it real or just a set for the movie, if it was latter then you can be sure that the film makers put it there.

Pretty cool news, but I think everyone is over-reacting, its a small sign that will show for a max of 20 seconds in a hour+ movie. Which nobody will either notice or care

I just watch Deadpool tonight and I didn't expect to see a reference to bitcoin on it.
But the bitcoin sign was blurry and visible like 10 seconds so I'm not sure that people who don't have an interest in the bitcoin world will notice it or get the clue.

I doubt that they put that Bitcoin sign in there on purpose. It was probably just the bar, that they were filming at, that accepts Bitcoin.

the deadpool is in luck that the camera captured the 'bitcoin accepted here', because that place has bitcoiners there.

Well, if they didn't really notice the sign can it be that that is a real location that accepts bitcoin and not just a prop?

Wow, i'm also watched Deadpool but i'm not notice that "Bitcoin accepted here". But i'm glad Bitcoin noticed on deadpool movie, i hope someday more people will know about bitcoin.

Deadpool is not the only movie to present bitcoin. There were other movie that were dedicated to bitcoin. Although Asian. Still.

Yeah there is really no way to know whether the producer put there on purpose or by accident. Other than of course asking him.
