Post by: forzendiablo on February 15, 2016, 05:23:11 AM

Like herolookup or heroapp or herpp.

Was giving 1-2BTC per claim in 2010-2011.

I think Gavin Andreson created the first faucet and it paid up to 5 BTC in the beginning. I think I have Alzheimer light also, because I read it not too long ago, and I also cannot remember. Woah, that must have been very cool to receive 5 BTC per claim.

Make you wish you could turn back time. What was the time delay between faucet claims?

Back than receiving 5 BTC didn't feel much different than receiving 1000 satoshi right now. The only advantage was that you could actually do some testing as the transaction fees were much smaller compared to the value of the payout back than.

If you had claimed those 5 BTC back than the chance of still having them today are so minute, it still wouldn't have mattered.

Eh, not even close to 500,000 I think. ;D

I wasn't aware of bitcoins back in 2010 but in early 2012. There are still quite a few faucets which gives 1-2 bitcoins a day depending on your luck (not pretty sure though, that was like 4 years ago.)w The faucets I participated on only give a few satoshis, and that was early 2014 when I became fully interested on bitcoins.

1 faucet claim from 2010 > 500,000 claims from today, lol.

This is the power of time, changing everything! Just like less than 100 years ago the word "computer" might not even exist yet!

Why would you say the chance of still having those bitcoins would be minute? There are a lot of people still using faucets in the hope that the value increase, who are hoarding the coins they get now. I did experiment with faucets back in the day, and I created separate Bitcoin addresses for every faucet, to see what I accumulate from the different faucets and also to prevent dust.

Those addresses are still untouched after almost 3 years. In today's value, it is still dust. ^smile^

I'm sure want to go back in time and spend the whole 24 hours waiting to get as many bitcoin as they have or I will hop from one cafe to the other just to get hold of those precious bitcoins,if only a prophet has told me that it will go up to $400 or more in the future

If I could have a time machine I would just go back for one year with all sports results from the last 12 months and bet the shit out of all the sports betting providers who accept Bitcoin. ;D ;D

But as I am not Marty Macfly and don't know any Doc Brown this will remain just a dream. :D

To think that you could get 1-2BTC on faucets is mind blowing.  I wonder if some of the people still have faucet bitcoins or if they sold them. I would not have been able to hodl that long.

I believe that it is a good idea now to bump this thread as the bitcoin price is keeping on growing!

Good to see that Gavin Anderson actually gave away about 22K$ to random people over the internet(those 5 bitcoins were worthless at that time but are not worth about 22,000$) which is pretty much crazy!

remember the bitcoin price that matter is the bitcoin price at the time of the transaction so he was giving anyone 22,000 USD.

I bet no one from those days keep even a fraction of those free for all bitcoins :)

I LOLed when I discovered this thread in the MICROearnings section  ;D

I feel a little bit sick - according to the site they were giving away 5, yes 5, bitcoins to each visitor for solving a Captcha. Gulp. If only I'd got on board with this sooner.

Even if people have bought it, there's only a very slight chance that they have hold it this far.

That's so true. I wonder what the average 'cave in' price would be? Guess it depends on your other financial circumstances. Only people who are already wealthy can afford to speculate (and possibly lose) the sums involved.

Yeah... I'm with you on that one. I hopped on the bitcoin train back at $400 and sold at $700. Whoops. :( But, if everyone bought and held massive amounts of coins, chances are, bitcoin would not be what it is today. It's still not too late to hop on before it goes mainstream!
