Title: [Question] Lending on Poloniex
Post by: squatz1 on February 17, 2016, 05:58:56 AM
Has anyone used the lending portion of Poloniex that can shine some light on how good it is? Would just like to hear what some think about it.

Thanks!

I personally didn't use them before because I'm simply against exchange/ Lending platforms that asks for reals information's , It defeats the whole purpose of using Bitcoin .
Other then that , It should work like BTCJam and Loanbase , they ask you for real information's to proof your identity , that you can pay back etc ... then you can asks for loans and I suppose it's the same thing if you get scammed , you won't be able to get your money back .

I actually meant the portion of LENDING to other people, as I don't really know how that works.

I'm with you. The whole purpose of bitcoin is privacy and now all these services are asking for users private information; no privacy here. This is real proof that there is a growing need for decentralized exchanges that can provide these kind of services.

I think we can't blame some othese services that asks real info as there are instances that some people abuses the anonimity offered in a site. Ithink they are only protecting theirselves the same way that they are protecting their users.

I personally also don't use services who asks personal info but it can't be avoided at some time. Poloniex is one of the best exchange sites and I've been using it for quite some time now.

as long as this is a free market and there is other exchange services available, we can all switch easily.

the reason they have added the information is because they wanted to add these extra features like fiat, lending, and many more. but they shouldn't have put restriction for others who did not want to give information, such as maximum withdrawal,...
