I think the Ethereum needs some correction in the short term. Its price has risen too fast in the last month.

Bitcoin is up. People are just desperate, either panic buying or panic selling. Whales. Ethereum still +300% since a month ago(figuratively speaking).

I think that it has nothing to do with Ethereum itself. The growth stopped, and the price got stuck a few days. Then Bitcoin's price increased, and people moved their money...

When BTC rising at first nearly all alts are going down. Later alts are used to follow BTC with a few days or a week latency. Also, after the quick rise last week a correction isn't surprising.

and did not bitcoin fall abit when ethereum was going up , guess people moved back their money in bitcoins from ethereum after they got a nice profit :)

A massive price rise like that triggers huge amounts of supply coming onto the market, specially when it's early in the asset's life and big portions of the supply is still concentrated in few hands.

I think this correction will take a few weeks to wash itself through and then stabilise, maybe around 0.004 or 0.005.

I don't think this will be the biggest price drop in this coin, this was just testing the waters to offload some of their currency. The next one or the one after will be a huge one.

In any market this things happen,but we cannot make a conclusion based on one day alone,ethereum price is stabilizing I don't think investors are now losing interest on the coin,even a week will not harm it's value..

Sometimes there is a period of time of stabilization, and this may be a good idea to buy back in, but sometimes it goes back again with no time for stabilization.

At the end of the day as others have pointed, don't get fooled, no alt (including ETH) is competition for Bitcoin which will always be number 1. Look what happen when Bitcoin goes up, people start selling their alts like crazy, so always pay attention to what Bitcoin is doing because Bitcoin dictates the entire altcoin market.

I never saw this coming as I have always thought that people will continue buying ETH up to 0.02. Now I have to eat my words as the market cap is not sustainable when ETH is still at the early stage of development.

I do not think it is possible for the price to reach 0.02 any time soon. The bitcoin price is also rising. That will make the 0.02 expensive.

Its been a few days of the most brutal and savage profit-taking I've ever seen a market endure. Now that everybody is well fed I see the volume is being cranked up and we're jumping by leaps and bounds again.

ETH is back above 0.01 after falling 22% in a day. I don't think ETH will go back to its low level previously. ETH now is different from ETH a few months ago when many people and even banks are using its platform.

Well with these dips there are chances to profit off of it. Then just trade it back to Bitcoin.

I buy 4BTC worth at 800k before I go to bed and wake up to 1M. The highest price I bought at was 1.13M and sold some at 1.4M for deposit on OGN gold coins.

This has been happening to me since 500k for almost a month.

I was not part of ipo/ico but I bought my ETH for under $1 so I am not yet unhappy. Some of the hate for ETH is a bit frightening. It runs so deep in some people. Hypocrites like to pretend they are not here to watch their investment mature. They are better than me because they have noble cause in mind (when was money or currency EVER a noble cause???). But with all their nobility I bet they have a Tesla brochure on their coffee table!

Didn't you look at historical hypes of bitcoin? Surging 50 times followed by a 95% drop in 2011! So what? It was still up 3 times after! And now its nearly 200 times from there (so 600 times in common, in the meantime it was even over 1000 times, but we will surpass that for sure)!

I think the price of ETH is down due to value o the bitcoin today and i think its better to still holding some Eth because after bitcoin is crash again and back below 380. The price of bitcoin will be increase again. So don't panic ETH will be fine soon.

Agree with you, looks like a lot of people doesn't have the balls to leave peacefully and quietly 15$ of eth on the side, but sure they can go to some fast-food at the end of the week.

It was just a normal correction after a big bump. Now the price rises again and is near the old highs.

I sold most of my Ether at $5,13 and waiting until the price goes back under $3. Then I will all the gain to buy back more Ethereum. It's a good strategy.

Won't happen. In the next couple of weeks they are going to announce Homestead. Price will stay above $8 then.

I don't get it, if you have gains with 500% and more, who cares about doubling then with additional risk, that it won't happen at all?

Who knows what it'll do long term... but I ended up with a little more than double my initial ETH purchases.
Or a little better than "break even" for my hobby, overall, if I throw in recent video card purchases and total kwh costs.
Still, as a n00b... this ride made me smile :)  I had no expectations of breaking even any time soon at ~2ETH a day mining.
I'll be hanging on for awhile and yeah, if it dips below $3, I may have to snag some more of it, myself.   ;D

In my opinion it's just a normal down time.. every curency has a "bad moment"... BTC was half of the today's price a year ago, then it moves up and down lotta times... it's too early to make a prediction of what's gonna happen... ethereum is very cool, but (like btc) it's having lot of movement now; the volume is also very high and it's not easy to maintain such value point everytime or make a infinite line of growth...if we look at the year graphic, there's no reason to be pessimist with eth/btc exchanging and it seems pretty cool since the beginning.

That wasn't a rumor, it happened. It seems strange for a seller to want to sell that all at once unless they have some kind of pre-arranged sale, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on.

I was wrong calculations, the price ethereum now is rises of up to 0.032 BTC per coins ethereum, whether days to come there will be a massive dump or even rise up of price? No one is knows!

The bitcoin price will rise to $1500 later this year. If Etherum becomes the No 1 coin, the price will have to be $360. That is 25 times of present value.

Bitcoin has a 6.3 billion dollar market cap, Ethereum currently is sitting at 1.1 billion dollars, so it would only need to rise ~ 6 times present value (of course assuming BTC stays roughly the same) for it to become the number one coin. This would mean the price would only need to be around $85, a lofty goal for sure, but still well short of $360.

If you asked me if this would be possible a month ago, I would have laughed. If you ask me again today, I will still laugh, although maybe not with as much conviction that it could never happen.
