BTC  will surely gone to 700 us dollar. and highest price will be 1700 us Dollar.

Well, i also think the price will rise to around 1000$, after the halving takes place.

the bitcoin price reaching $700 is something i can agree with, but $1700 as high of the year is simply too far away. we might be happy if we see the price break through $1000 again this year

It will have a good price, I hope in 2016. But you never know what can happen in the future with the value.
To predict a value is very difficult because it is a currency and that is changing all the time, But I hope it will rise in the future.

i want to hope bitcoin price goes to $1700 but my logical mind says it is not possible, at least not without any huge initiative.

i'm also on the fence to think about a 1k-2k range as a peak and 700 as a new bottom or stable value, probably around the halving

but there is the possibility of a much higher peak....

It probably won't happen till block size problem won't get fixed.

Block size problem definitely will be solved in 2016:
*price will rise during halfing
*increasing of price will cause increasing of transactions(as allways)
*block size problem will become critical
*pools and services will agree on change under pressure of REAL PROBLEM

However i dont believe in 1700 high. There will be a huge resistance near 1k

I believe (and this is my opinion, people who predict here are BS) that if we pass our ATH then we will experience a new "bubble"

Although bitcoin prices have become more stable over time, they are still volatile. They are subject to heavy speculation, flash crashes, manipulation, intense short squeezes and all sorts of irrational behavior. Will hope for the best in price in future I mean after halving. I guess more than 800$.

700$-1700$ nope, 700$ will be max, can't be more  i'm sure about it, it just won't grow  up so fast

I can definitely see the price touch $700 this year with the block halving still infront of us. I however can't see the price come anywhere near $1700 this year. It's more a fantasy than a realistic price target.

$1700 usd is impossible for this year and i think the maximum price we can reach for this year is $700 and i think this is possible for this year...
But according to analysis out side in this forum that the price will rise $1000 to 10k Price. I don't believe from him because that's impossible maybe the price will hit it in year 2100 reaching 10k value is not a good price for bitcoin..

Where does this $1700 prediction come from? Really curious about that.

I am quite sure though it will be anywhere between $100 and $2000, and with the block reward going down 50% this year, I expect the bitcoin price to go up a bit. Say $600.

Lol, it's not hard to figure out that the price will remain between $100 and $2000 this year. :D $600 is a fair price target, I hope we can go even higher than that, but I am sure that people are eagerly waiting to sell their coins that they have been saving up since sub $300 prices.

i think the $600-$700 is a good guess for how the price can be in 2016 but for the highest price, i don't think bitcoin is at a stage that can go that high (i mean your prediction of $1700) if a bubble happens i think the max is going to be between $900 and $1100

It will have a good future I think. Bitcoin is becoming more people over the years. I think people like Bitcoin.
But the value is now the problem. It is now very low and that is not good. I hope that the value will be higher after a few years.

The bitcoin is not stable now but after the halving the bitcoin will get stabler at a certain point ( 800 dollar).

The price is now steady at the $400 - $415 levels. Let's just hope it can handle the incoming sells. After that IMO the floor can go higher.

yeah the effect of halving on the price is a sure thing. but it is not easy to predict the magnitude of the effect. so 1700 might be possible but hard to reach.
i think the stable price after the bubble is going to be a little higher that the price it was before the bubble not as big as 800

Well i think the price is playing around 415 to 430. This is the time for dumping and sooner or later the price of bitcoin will be decrease again and back below 400..

One the one hand I believe Bitcoin price must increase due to the scarcity, halving, and the immense difficulty increases we are seeing right now. On the other hand mining farms still make a decent income even at current prices and all that electricity used for mining world wide will have to be paid by someone. We cannot use up more and more power for Bitcoin mining just to secure one single transaction. Therefore, I'm afraid we might see the exact opposite and falling prices or at least no huge increase as everyone expected for 2016. Perhaps some farms will give up mining after halving day if the price at the time doesn't fulfill their wishes/expectations!

My bitcoin prediction for the 2016 is that it will rise to a high price this year for sure, because of the halving.
I think if you invest now you will make profit for sure, because of it.

I think the halving will double the bitcoin. That will make it worth about $800. The general adoption will double it again, making it $1600.

Hearing a lot of people projecting the same thing. And i am so one with you on this. And this im sure wont be helped - Bitcoin will boom on everyone's faces.

My bitcoin prediction is that the bitcoin will rise to a high amount this year, I think we just need to wait for the moment.
This year will be a good year for the bitcoin, we just need to be patient for the price increase because of the halving.

$700 is still possible this year, if this movement in price continues, then we might see a $700 maybe by third quarter of this year..  :)

I don't think it will even pass the $1000. Have seen more predictions here but most never did happen also big dumbs of stolen coins is not really good for the price. That happened to often that there are big sales of stolen coins.

I don't think people buying/selling can take it to those prices within one year cause that is just trading and contributes nothing other then swings,it should be supported by any industry otherwise.

why is there a possibility of higher peak ? I think mining would still be profitable.

i don't think we will see the bitcoin price fall back to below $400 this weekend unless a whale trader dumps thousands of bitcoins at once. and then there still is a possibility that after that the price will still remain over $400. the sentiment is too good currently.

The price of btc will reach to a new level by the end of 2016 and we are expecting major pump after halving so I believe that the price of bitcoin would be much higher in this year.

In a short time it will reach the value of $500 and the price will start fluctuating which leads to further rise and stagnation can be found over the $400 level.

500 for the first half of this year. Then the second half of this year we can see the price go to 600 dollar.
This would make it very succesful for bitcoin.

I think the price will hovering around $450 in the next few weeks. it will not rise too high before the whales have enough.

I will try to follow this call ,there is chance till end of weekend for 450$.

It will rise for sure I hope. That is my prediction in 2016. I think it will have a higher value in the future.
But it is hard to predict a currency. You never know what can happen later in the future. But I think it will be a good year.

Whether the price will rise or not highly depend on the mindset and actions take by the core developers.
I honestly doubt the price will rise if there are no solutions for the current problems; i.e. the block size/transactions.

Remember the block halving isn't a guarantee the price will rise either.

disagree with OP and i was already know that bitcoin prices slowly but sure has begun to rise again but i think we won't see prices $1000 above and i guess the highest price in 2016 would be approximately $800

Exactly and the reason for this is that there will be a lot of sell offs once the price reaches the $800-1000 mark so how will it rise if there are so many sell orders. Also at $1000, will there be enough buyers than sellers? I think not and that will bring the price down.

Maybe it will be a good year for 2016. But I think that more people will also use Bitcoin more and that they understand what Bitcoin is.
The most important is that the value will rise and that we can all sell it with profit. But that we must see later in the future.

i'm not worried at all, but i keep staying realistic because i know things in the bitcoin price can change quite dramatically in a very short time. we have seen this happen plenty of times already where the price was dumped to the ground after reaching high price levels. that's why i never get too excited when i see the price is going up like 20 or 30 bucks in a short time.

The prediction of the bitcoin 2016 is pretty difficult because you never know what may happen with it and his market, the halving is coming and no one can really say it will really rise to a high amount, its just a prediction.
I think it will rise to a high amount this year and than lower again to a stable number.

That is just a general opinion. The bitcoin block reward having will raise the price quite a lot. And it could even double the price.

 
I m 100% agree with you that in this year when halving coming than automatically Bitcoins price will grow up. and it will be reached at the top of $700 .

After halving the price could be around $700 to 800. Then it will also go up due the block size increased to 2MB or higher.

I think that it it going to be around $600 or $700. We are now almost at $500 so with eight months left it can surely rise up t0 $700. We have to wait and see what 2016 will bring us.

Bitcoin will have not the best year because as you can see you see that the value is not even rising and that is quite bad for the most people who are waiting for a price increase.
It can only reach maximal the $500 I think because it keeps stable now and that is not that best.

bitcoin now stands at 420-440 USD. I predicted the end of 2016 will be in the numbers bitcoin 1000USD. I am very confident. a lot of positive sentiment that will affect the increase in bitcoin. especially halving in the next few months.

When I was first introduced to bitcoin in 2013, the guy who introduced me said it will surely go to 2k but it collapsed to 200. I believe that price will go up but 1000 seems a big target, 600 seems ok

Isn't 1700 usd a bit high, everything can happen last time the highest was 1.2-1.3k but personally i think that it can reach 500-700 at max.

well as long as the block reward will be cut by half i dont think that such increase will be that small in my opinion so we will most probably reach 2000 dollars at least

i would predict that we will reach the new all time high or even bigger prices for sure but the fluctuations are so unpredictable that im too afraid to put in a lot of money into it

The $1700 is quite high. I think that price is not sustainable this year. The price could hit that value, but it will come down.

Even $700 may be too high to happen this year. $1700 is just beyond insane. Nothing indicates that the price will rocket up that high.

I predict for $ 3000

I think that it will not be that high, we have to move away from $400 first. The price is now on its way to $500 but I do not know how long it is going to take before we get there.
But I believe it will happen with in 2016 if not early 2017.

Why would this happen? The price has been above 400 for a long time, it's going up now, what makes you think it will lose 10% in the coming days?

I'm still amazed by the impact on the price after the core developer left a few months ago. That makes me think the price can also go up a lot the moment the miners agree on creating bigger blocks. That would be the opposite of the effect of a developer leaving and increase the confidence in bitcoin.
I get that miners like small blocks, as it means less data and higher fees. But if larger blocks lead to more confidence and thus a higher bitcoin price, it could be very beneficial for them to increase block size.

I think Bitcoin will reach maximal the $500 and that is because you see now that the value is going to rise slowly and you never know what will happen with the value.
It can also reduce but lets hope for not otherwise it will be bad.

agreed!!! even if bitcoins price is rising little by little we cant avoid the price to go down, $500-550 is the possible price of bitcoin this year IMO.

Only very shortsighted miners will want smaller blocks.   

Bigger blocks might give lower fees, but since there are more transactions in them, they will get a larger amount of total fees. (More transactions = more fees). On top of that the price of Bitcoin itself will rise, making mining more profitable. And also instantly upgrading the value of any Bitcoin they have in reserve.

Im feeling we will reach surely above $600, all holders are now accumulating more, then dump when the price are high enough.

Even I will go with OP expectation because as we people expect price will reach that destination before the end of 2016...

I too think that price would go above $600, I just don't know how this price right now that is in spike would sustain, if holders still has funds to buy more, it will continue, but if those who speculate almost emptied their fiat for bitcoin already..But for sure after the halving the price would increase, and probably by the end of this year we are at $500+ or might really be OP's prediction is right...

I have some similar predictions with my analysis. I am sure BTC wont go below 400$ this year from now and the max price reached till december will be around 1200$ ... I have saved some BTC to for this same purpose.

Yes and to support our answer bitcoin halving is there too. Once it happens we will have a huge price increase, though I am not sure how high it will go overall, maybe 700 and very well may reach 1k mark !

Yeah if this same percentage of price increase continues automatically bitcoin would reach $600 when it breaks out the current expectation of $500.

My prediction for 2016 for Bitcoin is that it will only reach maybe maximal the $500 and that is because you already can see now that the value is not even rising.
And that is bad for the most people who are waiting for a price increase and they want to make of course profit soon and that would be not possible for them.

from what the rest of us can see on exchangers and cahrt site like bitcoinwisdom.com the price has been rising for the past few days. and it is already > $440 and doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

I dont want to melt your expectations guys and I myself would be very happy to see price going over 600-700$ but guys looking at current market its hard to see if it actually will go higher than 500$.

Yes actually and its my personal observation that bitcoin price gets very high around christmas and that is the actual time when I sell all my reserved bitcoins. You guys can note around 25th it will be around 600$ ( but just my observation ).

My prediction is around 700 USD before the end of the year. I think as a result of the halving the price will rise fairly significantly. I hope to see over 700 but I never like to make really, really outlandish predictions.

we're not even close to $500 at this point. to some people $50 might not look like a huge gap, but it will probably be one of the harder price levels to break through this year. let's just put our focus on reaching $500 and then $600 before dreaming about $1000 prices. if we somehow touch $800 this year, then i can understand that people are talking about reaching $1000, but not at this point.

The bitcoin price could reach $1000 by the end of the year. But it also depends on the 2MB block size increase.

even with the block halving and the block size increase the price will not go to $1000 this year. it's basically pointless to dream about $1000 while we haven't even seen $500 and $600 yet. and after that there still is $700 - $800 - $900...

I agree with randy8777. Halving only will get us to $500-600 at most. Having additionally the agreement on the block size may add another $100-200 on top of that. Anywhere beyond that, it will be simply difficult, if not impossible this year.

I dont think that Bitcoin will reach this year a high value and that is because it was already stable for a long time and people are saying that the halving will be not that good.
And so we have now to wait a longer time until the value will be more worth and not everyone has the patience for it.

I have no any prediction but i can guess it. now you can see bitcoin price is going up,  and i guess halving is coming in this year that' why bitcoin is going up and in this year i mean in 2016 bitcoin will come at $ 800 to $1100.

My prediction is more optimistic  and i believe you like it , you are right bitcoin will gone to 700$ - $800 - $900, but the highest price of bitcoins will be 1000$. than bitcoin's price will stop and after halving bitcoin price will going down.

I would say if you want to buy bitcoin before halving hits us this the last days to do it. Halving is only like 9 weeks away from now.
And after that I doubt bitcoin price will ever back to $400-$450 range again.

Don't get excited this early as we don't know if the block halving is calculated in the current price or not.

No matter how many people say we will never see this or that price level again they always get proven wrong as the price goes down as much as the big boys want.

If they want to have the price below $400 for a long time then they can easily do that.

well, there is a huge difference between realistic optimism and not realistic optimism. of course i hope the price to reach $1000 this year, but as i said in my previous post, it won't happen, and definitely not before the block halving. it's better to set yourself some lower targets are you will only get disappointed once you see you are far off with your predictions.

2020 is just 4 years away. If the price double every year, it is just 16 times of present value, or $7000 each.

That is not possible at all, we may see maximum price of $700 by the end of this year and if user adoption goes higher in future then price will be around $2k in 2020.

I've read it before today, but it seems to me people are dreaming out aloud. An asset doubling every year, based on what? This is not going to happen, and it's not the goal of bitcoin.
Rather then to hope/dream, invest in your time in 'important' things.

The bitcoin price has more than doubled every year from 2009. It has ups and downs, the general trend is up.

I guess it is a common thing, up and down. but I think that this year will make bitcoin prices to be higher than in 2014 and 2015, well maybe this is the beginning of the rise of bitcoin

If all goes all, including the SegWit implmentation and the block size increase to 2MB, then the price will be higher than $1200.

bitcoin has done far crazier things than double every year, and it's not unheard of for tech companies stocks to also gain value at a rate that is even more rapid than doubling in a year.

sure it won't double every year forever, but it will rise very fast at some point if it ever gets mainstream adoption. It will have to, because there is only 21 million bitcoins to divide over more then 7 billion people.

bitcoin has to be outrageously expensive because plain and simple most people won't be able to afford more than a fraction of a bitcoin (about 0.003BTC is what the average person would be able to afford.)

It's already higher then 2014/2015 and my guess the halving effect started very early this time. I don't expect the price to rise much now. For this year a stable coin around the 500 dollar would be perfect for me.

It is not going to be 700 Dollar in 2016 any more. In 2015 I thought that that was going to be possible but the price is moving to slow for that to happen. This is going to happen in 2017.

Not any more? It never had the chance to go there in the first place. I always say; don't judge a book on its cover. What looks like a very slow rising price today, can look completely different tomorrow or the day after that.

Right. and the great bitcoin halving is in this year. everything will be clear after this halving which is coming in July. I think bitcoin price will cross 700$ for sure. even most of users are predicting that bitcoin will cross 1000$ also.

My prediction is that the bitcoin is gonna rise a gain to a high amount this year, it will fist go down again and than go to a high amount because of the halving.
Its also globally growing so that will also let the price rise.

My prediction this year is that the value of the Bitcoin is not going to be that high and that it will takes a long time until the value will be higher so we need to wait a longer time.
And that is really bad also because not everyone has the patience to wait such a long time until the value will be higher.

I think the price could be in the range of $800 to 1000. That is after the halving and the block size increase.

You can add both ends of most people's range and still be too low : 700 => 1700 = 700+1700=2400$.

Truly impressive to see this thread about speculations way back from May 2016.
From $700 and after a year the price just got 4x higher. Can't believe it though. Hope it would happen again next year. My hopes are too high for this.
