Title: PC ad/virus remover tools?
Post by: sariwa on February 19, 2016, 09:21:37 AM
I have tried AdwCleaner and Windows Defender but they all say there is no any trojan or viruse found. Despite this, my Firefox browser gets hijacked and redirects to oneclickads.net ad page when I open new websites. I looked up some google tips (http://blog.doofix.com/how-to-remove-onclickads-net-pop-up-virus/) related to the issue and I was recommended to remove everything using add/remove programs & clearing "add-ons" from Firefox but I didn't see any! Windows 7, newest version of firefox, Asus laptop...any other recommended software? :-[ :-[

Have you tried malwarebytes? Or some other form of anti-malware tool? Sometimes anti-virus' don't pick that sort of stuff up.

- AVG
- Avast
- Malwarebytes
- running msconfig and remove everything that doesn't need to startup
- remove unneccesary software
- remove all plugins you don't need
- use sandboxie in the future
- install a decent firewall (for example zonealarm)

Install for free a Kaspersky Internet Security and run it.

If troubles persist - ask the help on Kaspersky forum.

You could try to get rid of the malware with CCleaner. Also maybe just change your browser? I used to use only Firefox too but that has changed. Firefox is not the best anymore. Try Chrome or Torch.

Well I love chrome also but the thing is I got the same problem as OP has . The first page redirects to some "mystartsearch" website and I tried removing it multiple times . However, I failed doing that . Now I am going to give ccleaner and kaspersky a try .

No wonder why Malawarebytes is the most recommended free anti malware program tool to date. It can easily removed those potentially unwanted programs in your pc without a problem unlike any other malware removal tools.

Build Avira rescue disk, boot from it and see what you can find. When your windoze is not running, even the smarter viruses cannot hide.

Remember to install everything, THEN run in safemode.
(boot pc again and smash f12)
First Rkill,
then ADWcleaner,
ccleaner,
malwarebytes,
super antispyware,
combofix.
Not removed? Try removing it manually and if that does not work time to re image that bad boy.
Also time=money for me, so i always just re image.

My suggestion would be to start w/ a free cleaner from one of the enterprise vendors like McAfee or TrendMicro. They charge for the full product, but scan and clean your PC for free. You may need to download a trial version.

I'd follow that up w/ an antispyware program like Malwarebytes.

Also keep in mind, it might be to your benefit to use multiple free antivirus programs to clean the PC, one after the other, since sometimes one AV will catch something that another will miss. Have only one installed at any one time, though.

I have not used one since 2003 maybe..
YOU are the "Tool"

Learn or get someone qualified to do it for you.

"Tools" may or may not work i know this from testing.
Ever deliberately infected your computer before ?

I just fixed my room-mates PC and i have not had an Anti-Virus program installed since 2005 roughly.
And yeah my machine runs God like.
I also am not the least bit concerned about hackers / malware either.
THEY BETTER be worried about me because i am an evil sick fuck.
In some of my cracking escapades i hammered on a program every day for many months.
Until i shattered their security and then posted the cracks on the web boasting about my exploits.
Point ?
I am BEYOND persistent.. when i decide then i will have my victim!
No matter what it takes or how long..
And anything that runs can be cracked.

You can break through someone's front door with 1 finger if you want to..
1 light tap at a time add's up.
Never fuck with the diabolical madness of a lunatic.  8)

I eluded to my point but it roared over your heads like a broken Engrish jumbo jet.

A virus removal "Tool" and an Antivirus protection program are not the same thing.

so really, 99% of you are not even answering this persons question.
Nor are any of you even providing an explanation as to WHY you like Avast or AVG or..

Talk about giving BAD advice.  :D
