Title: Donate Bitcoins!!!
Post by: siesatsu on January 18, 2013, 01:40:19 AM
After watching this heart breaking video detailing starving children in Africa

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7-7BT33PnY

I have decided to do something good with my life,

I have personally donated 30 bitcoins which is about 500$ to the Amani Kinderdorf foundation that provides food for starving children in Africa. I encourage you to do as I have done as the Bitcoins go to a great cause.

To encourage more people to donate I have decided to donate 1/5 of your donation to the charity of your choosing on Bitcoins to Charity. For example if a donation of two bitcoins is made I will personally donate .4 to that charity. Make sure to post the Blockchain transaction on this thread for proof of your donation.

Depending on how big this thread gets I may have to stop with my donations, but I am willing to donate up to 100 Bitcoins this way.
Cheers, god bless!

edit by mod: original links points to Bitcoins TO Charity, which is a scamming site! Real charity is Bitcoins FOR Charity!

only problem is starving Africans dont need fish, they need fishing poles. Translation: they dont need money they need property rights.

ok but still its great that you are doing this, even though fishing poles are better a fish is still a good thing to have if you are hungry.

Translation: they dont need money they need property rights.
They also need Western governments to stop sending "assistance".

Free food either gets dumped into their cities and destroys the ability of local farmers to make a living, or else it gets resold on the open market so that the dictators ruling them can raise cash to buy weapons (from those same Western countries).

Any evidence of this happening? Id like evidence for such radical claims.

how is it radical to assume that some dictators commandeer the food that is delivered to thier country and sell it on the market and keep the profits for themselves. Wouldn't it be far more radical to assume that this doesn't happen? I mean really, motive + opportunity + crazy ass dictator = equity and fairness? something seems a little off about that equation no?

If your referring to the donation website it is well known and trusted within the Bitcoin community. If your asking how you will know I donate 1/5 I will post the Bitcoin transaction on this thread.

I do not in any way own the website. They have been around for a few years now and are trusted by many Bitcoin donators. You could probably get in touch with site admins and im sure they will provide you with answers to your questions.

Sending money in Africa= making local warlords richer.

Yes, the video is sad, that's why warlords keep their population starving, so people keep sending billions to them  ;) Or do someone really believe that after all the trillions sent in africa that they are "poor"? lol

If your debating whether Africans are poor, your a moron. I went to Eritrea four years ago for a Safari, I was absolutely shocked at the conditions the people lived in. Their huts were made of mud and every village we stopped in you could see the ribs showing on every child. Eritrea is only the fifth poorest country in Africa , if you look at data on the poorest countries in the world at the bottom of the list is nearly every African country in existence, How can you argue such a thing?

Yeah, the people you saw are very poor. But did you ever ask WHY they are poor? Despite 50 and more years of trillions poured in africa? Did you also notice how african warlords are very rich?

I imagine they are poor because of lack of natural resources and over population. Where are you getting this 50 trillion from? Or are you just pulling random numbers out of your ass? Who are these rich african warlords you speak of? Or did you fall for the BS lies of KONY 2012. Lmao this guys a straight retard.

Money from rich countries has trapped many African nations in a cycle of corruption, slower economic growth and poverty

50 are the years, wich today are more like 60

Over the past 60 years at least $1 trillion of development-related aid has been transferred from rich countries to Africa.

That's where donations go
Quote
As recently as 2002, the African Union, an organization of African nations, estimated that corruption was costing the continent $150 billion a year, as international donors were apparently turning a blind eye to the simple fact that aid money was inadvertently fueling graft
Quote
According to corruption watchdog agency Transparency International, Mobutu Sese Seko, Zaire's president from 1965 to 1997, is reputed to have stolen at least $5 billion from the country.
Quote
It's scarcely better today. A month ago, Malawi's former President Bakili Muluzi was charged with embezzling aid money worth $12 million. Zambia's former President Frederick Chiluba (a development darling during his 1991 to 2001 tenure) remains embroiled in a court case that has revealed millions of dollars frittered away from health, education and infrastructure toward his personal cash dispenser. Yet the aid keeps on coming.

No.. Corruption is rampant everywhere a theft of 12 million is very little compared to how much is donated to african countries.

I am the person responsible for making sure that all Bitcoins you donate to the Amani-Kinderdorf organization reach the bank account as euros. (Any doubts about this claim? Check out the official Amani donation thread [1] )
First, I would like to thank everyone who decided to donate Bitcoins to this organization. You really make the world a better place!
So far, 1 Bitcoin has reached the address 1NoA98grVfXfVqysU4ijM9jhMBD8vmrUC8 (which is the official donation address) this year. There are no signs yet of the other 30 Bitcoins mentioned in this thread but I will keep an eye on this. As soon as I'm able to transact the euros to the organization I will let you know here or in our official thread. Once again: Thank you!

//edit: One word about the organization: It DOES NOT provide food for starving children. The organization is in charge of running two small communities for children whose parents have died (mostly due to AIDS or other diseases). The organization hopes that these communities can be self-sustainable one day but at the moment that is not the case and the organization relies on  donations for their work to continue. Please check out the information available on the website [2] or ask me directly if you have any questions.

PS: OP is outed as a scammer. He created a phishing site similar to bitcoinsforcharity.org to attract donations.

Yeah, I couldn't believe how low some people would stoop to. I guess we see all kinds of people here.

That's true. Anyhow, I would like to stress that the organization Amani-Kinderdorf e.V is in no way affiliated with this scam and every Bitcoin you send to the official donation address will reach the organization (and benefit the children in one way or another).
@siesatsu: I really do hope for you that there is no such thing as Karma, because if it exists you really are in trouble now.

I would say shame on you OP, but people doing stuff like that probably don't even understand that concept.
