Title: The applications of Bitcoin
Post by: tommorisonwebdesign on February 21, 2016, 02:44:40 AM
As most people on this forum know, Bitcoin, and the technology it runs on, Blockchain, is capable of doing a lot of things. To the layman, Bitcoin is like shares; you buy when the price is high and sell when the price is low. BBitcoin can be used to verify identities, send money across the world, securely store money in a place cheaper than a bank and the list goes on. As we see consensus  in Hong Kong, 2016 may very well be the year of Bitcoin.

What do you use the currency for?

What do you use the currency for?

For me, this currency is just like the other currencies. I use it as a medium of exchange, to buy anything that I need. That's why I'm really hopping on the awareness of all of the people in this world to start accepting Bitcoin as a money.

Just wanted to point out a correction here: "you buy when the price is high and sell when the price is low" it should be the other way, Buy when is low and Sell when is high. I use it mainly for purchasing digital goods, some micro payments and soon in exchange for carrying large amount of cash when travelling abroad.

I use bitcoin to buy online services mostly buying some Microsoft codes :) and online stuff like gmail accounts and facebook accounts for my social media jobs. I help me save time creating these accounts and verifying as it takes time registering 10 accounts.

I use it as a store of value, mostly.

But remember how people from third wold countries can be paid a developed country's salary provided that they have a computer with internet and work for bitcoins? Bitcoin is going to even inequalities in the world. The process might be slow because the west probably will refuse to let go at first, but these inequalities will be shed light on and as a matter of fact will slowly disappear.
We live in a world that is continually getting more globalized. Bitcoin is bringing even more globalization on top of it. It will act as a catalyser. So yeah, countries will one day have the same cost of living, and bitcoin is making us tend to it even more. Now don't take me wrong: I'm only talking about inequalities between countries, not inequalities between people. There will still be rich people and poor people. And it will take time. Inequalities between people will remain, and there's nothing bitcoin alone can do about it because inequalities between countries were man-made, whereas inequalities between people are natural (smart/stupid, cautious/adventurous, etc). Policies are the only way to deal with natural inequalities.

I use Bitcoin mostly for buying micro/digital goods and I want to buy physical goods with it directly but there are not many shops that accept it yet. During the next few years there should be more shops with the Bitcoin accepted here sign in the window and I will choose to pay in Bitcoins when I can. In 2016 Bitcoin will start going mainstream.

I think the real value of Bitcoin will become apparent when people start to use it for escrow, time locked payments, multi-signatures and similar applications.

bitcoin is still like share for me. at least for the most part of it.
there is not enough application for it that i want to use. but from things you mentioned in the OP i am also using bitcoin for sending/receiving money across the world with the fastest speed possible while paying the lowest fees. also it is a good way of storing money but i don't agree with it being better than bank, and storing money at a bank does not cost anything that you mentioned "Cheaper!" a bank also pays annual profit for my deposits.

I use it for several purposes / applications at the moment, because it is so versatile.  ;D .... The first thing is for a currency to buy and trade for goods

and also as a commodity as a investment vehicle. I think the best application at the moment for Bitcoin is for remittance to transfer value over borders.

The fees being charged by money transmitters are crazy and it creates a much cheaper solution for people to move value.

Though I am collecting bitcoins, I only use it to top up my mobile or to pay a bill when I have enough in my exchange wallet, other than that, I haven't tried using it on online shops.. But I am always waiting for the time, when there are other uses for the bitcoin, such as for groceries in local stores, or tip a barber with bitcoin...

Just a little point here.."you buy when the price is high and sell when the price is low", I think it should be the other way round.

Buy when price is less and Sell on a higher price.
The Usage of bit coins in mostly online. Most of the sites are accepting it.
