Title: Nvidia GTX 580 / GTX 680 - 680 underperforming against 580 Post by: Shiner on January 18, 2013, 06:16:59 PM Hi All,
Only a small fish, but yesterday I upgraded my vid card to the GTX 680 (Super Clocked Signature) from the GTX 580. Problem is, I cannot get anywhere near the Mhash I was getting with the 580. Using EVGA Precision X, with the 580 I was getting 164 MHash, and with with 680 I can only reach 115-120 MHAsh. This doesnt seem right. Can anyone provide any settings for EVGA Precision X or any other info to help boost the 680 please. I have played with many settings and still crash out if I go over 120MHash. I have spent hours looking through the forum, but any leads quickley end up moving off the original topic. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Otherwise I guess I'll return the 680 and get my money back :) Thank you. I have understood that message from the opinions on the forums. Mining wasnt the only reason for the upgrade, but still looking to maximise the mining potential :) Cheers for the reply. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but would another card be OK in a NVIDIA motherboard? You can fit ATI or NVIDIA in any motherboard ;) If you want to mine, you have to get an ATI but please note that in these days gpu mining isn't exactly profitable (yeah well, it's a waste of time :)) and in the next month ASICs should be delivered and they will definitely kill gpu mining.

Seeing as AMD GPU mining is barely worthwhile, I doubt anyone will spend their time optimizing a kernel for nVidia GPUs.

Any video card decision that has Bitcoin mining as any part of the purchase criteria immediately rules out nVidia.
