Yes i think it mostly depend on Supply & demand when demand increase price up & when supply increase price decrease.

Bitcoin will survive till all the one who are hosting bitcoin nodes decide to host it. It is decentralized one so there will be nothing like immediate shutdown of whole bitcoin network.

Bitcoin will exist until zero nodes are in operation and that will not happen while people have value/money stored onto it. If the value goes down to zero for some reason, people will still use the technology for other things, like Smart contracts and many other services hosted on the Blockchain.

The price will always be controlled by supply and demand and whatever the protocol dictate. < How many coins are released as a reward for the miners to do the mining >

Bitcoin won't go off in a short or within a specified term. Bitcoin has got these many trusted users within seven years of existence even after various crypts exists and got faded away

I do not know when bitcoin will die or how long bitcoin can live. during bitcoin users. still using bitcoin to transact. bitcoin will continue to live.

No one knows how long is bitcoin life. But everyone hope that bitcoin will life forever. Issue and rumour actually affect bitcoin price and many else affect bitcoin price.

Don't worry about that man.  Sure for 50 years no ons will touch the bitcoin. It will be there like now after 50 years also.
Every four years we can find the halving dude so price will increase accordingly.

Patience my friends. After 7 years, we re still in crypto infancy phase. Nothing s going to make you rich in 2 weeks time, unless you already own 1k BTC.

The blockchain itself cannot die. Inside blockchain there is info how much funds you have, so if you are worried you can backup blockchain to your own computer, and unless the owner die the funds will not disappear.


Only things that can be attacked is the miners but governments need to organize police arrests all around planet for this to happen. This is unlikely.

Remeber if governments organize something, the police officers will start buying bitcoins because they know governments are scared.

each thing has its heyday, Im not sure bitcoin will be life in more than 200years , i think in future someone will create new payment method or new currency with highest technology and bitcoin can dead..

it's backed by miners and merchants, miners can drive the price up to make their minign activity profitable

since there is no real competitor to bitcoin(no altcoin are not competitor they ar eonly an alternative) i can assume that it will live forever, as long as the value will make the mining activity profitable

You just cant predict the bitcoin future. It may decrease or increase. It all depends on time, thats what we have no control of but i honestly believe that bitcoin will have a good future life .

Bitcoin has a long life, I think. I think Bitcoin will be a good currency in the future. I hope later that it will have a higher value in the future.
But you cant predict how long the Bitcoin life is. But just take the risk that you will get profit later.

You might be getting little off-topic but actually bitcoins will be closed or say life is long only until all bitcoins are mined. Practically bitcoin prices will keep on go up until all the bitcoins get mined up.

The life depends on the value. You dont know what is going to happen. You only have to just sit and wait what is going to happen.
Everyone hope that the Bitcoin will be more worth so they can sell it with profit. But patience is the most important.

This is like asking, when will the internet die... we gave birth to a new "financial internet" network and this experiment will go on until nobody wants to

use it. The miners will keep mining, because there are money to be made from the Bitcoins being generated. If the price drop and the cost involved

in mining goes beyond the point where it's still profitable, some miners will stop mining... BUT there will always be people willing to do this to keep the

I think Bitcoin will outlive me. And that is all I care about.
As bitcoin grows older, people will discover its true value and the price will increase.

No one could measure it's lifespan since it's a technology that by many it's still considered to be on it's initial stages so it will surely go through some changes in the future and each of these changes, could have a saying on it's lifespan. Well the easiest answer would be it's demand and supply ratio is what it has to do with it's value.

You should look long term here and understand vision behind bitcoin.
It's natural that BTC is going up and down, it's like in the real market.
If more people buy, price go up, if more people sell, price go down, nothing to worry about.
Bitcoin is decentralized and nobody can control BTC price, only users.
BTC will last forever and will change our lives, no doubt about it.
It's way of life, financial freedom, revolution in finance etc.
Don't worry to much, just keep buying BTC :)

Bitcoin will be around forever.  The question is will it be accepted and adopted at a large scale or will it just be a novelty in the long run.  I could see it being just a method of sending money around the world quickly even if merchants don't accept it.

Bitcoin is going to be around at least until it's all mined. Which I think won't happen in our lifetime. So don't worry about it.

I'd expect the value to keep increasing everytime the reward halves, but I think the end's gonna come when a)transaction fees + mining can't make up for the cost of mining or b)someone either cracks the encryption or finds another loophole.

I don't know when bitcoin will die out but all i know is that it will be a long time yet as bitcoin is managing fairly well

It will still be around if there are miners doing their work and bitcoin users paying the recommended fee for miners. The date when the all of the bitcoin will be mined was year 2140 and after that the only income for miners was the fee coming from the users.

Without giving much work to our brain we can say it. "Bitcoins life is unpredictable as well as endless". It has got developed in such a growing nature.

Bitcoin is predicted to have a life span to at least 2140, which is when the 21mth Bitcoin will be mined and that is when something will have to happen that will either end up with a more robust currency or everyone will abandon it due to the miners leaving.

I expect Bitcoin to exist for a good while yet, though.

I definitely think that it has a very long life ahead of it. The price is still rising and it won't be stopping anytime soon.

I don't think that it is quite predictable about Bit coin life since it is digital currency working for several years successfully and with the demand its price goes higher and attracts more people to join it every day. Besides under current scenario it seems to be going forever with sustainable strength.

If i was to take a guess at how much longer bitcoin will live then i would say at most 10 years, if we made 10 then i would be surprised but realistically bitcoin could crumble within a few years. If bitcoin was to die i beleive it would send cryptocurrency years back.

I believe Bitcoin will be around for a long time because it is a pioneer in the digital currency world and it also has emancipated many people form poverty and economic crashes. At this point all of the scenarios that i can think off where Bitcoin would dissapear fall on the "unrealistic category", so that includes a total massive natural disaster, a world war, some sort of alien invasion... everything else has been addressed and is not a real treat. So yeah, it's simply unrealistic that bitcoun would fall at this point, too big too fail.

Feels like the polar opposite to me. It's still microscopic and very fragile. Too big to fail implies that the collective would do anything to ensure something's survival.

The hard core of developers, businesses and users would be understandably bereft if it went up in smoke tomorrow for technical reasons or whatever. For the multiple billions of people elsewhere it wouldn't even register. For a large chunk of Bitcoin users they're going to go where the convenience and the profits are.

Most likely, if all miners were to up and quit and stop mining Bitcoin altogether, chances are there would be a move from the PoW system that Bitcoin currently uses and it would likely change to a PoS or Proof of Stake system used by other coins. This means that people who already own coins "mine" simply by owning coins, in the simplest explanation possible.

It's possible that as mining becomes more difficult and bitcoins become more scarce, the price will go up.  I think the obvious question is whether people will continue to use bitcoins.  That may be the main effect on value.  If coins are harder to get, interest may drop.

The important thing that controls the price is simple, demand and speculation. In future we may have a big adoption rate behind us and the demand will outweigh the sellers, that will be a good day.

I think you are understimating the power of Bitcoin. The Bitcoin network is the biggest, strongest network on the planet. I will repeat again: biggest, strongest, most safe network on the planet, resistant to all super computers in the world working against it in the same time.

I think this is impressive and it will be very, very hard for any other project to gather this much resources. And it only has begun, we are only at 6+ billion dollar marketcap.

I think we are all still pioneers but we are already entering the "too big too fall" stage. Confidence is built every new day Bitcoin survives.

After 7 years I'm sure that Bitcoin is here to stay. The traditional monetary system is changing day by day, because the technology gives us a lot of opportunities, that includes digital money too. Banks have already used digital money system so Bitcoin technology is easy to adopt in monetary system. In this century we can see all money system converted into digital.

it's like gold story if people stop interesting gold ,no body interesting to buy it then miner will stop to mining gold, and gold would be die. the bitcoin value based of how much people interesting to have it.

Gold is always useful in that it doesnt rust or decay and it doesnt require anyone to be interested in it or any maintenance.   The breakdown in comparison to bitcoin is that it does require active interest, its not exactly unique and really its more of an active product.   People have forgotten about gold before and it doesnt matter as hundreds years later its suffered no changes and its picked up again and used.

Bottom line gold is not always useful, its just a solid rock but quite unique but bitcoin I think will always require people to favour and want to use it or it will end far more quickly price and overall stop existing

OP, I don't know exactly what your question is.  If it's "how long is bitcoin going to be around," then no one knows really.  I honestly did not expect bitcoin to survive this long.  After the bubble in 2013 and the subsequent crash, I thought people would be abandoning it in droves, but that didn't happen.  And that's kinda when I became a believer.  And the other thing that instills optimism in my pessimistic brain is that people all over the globe use it, not just folks in my country.  That's heartening.

You don't. You just have to be vigilant about the highs and lows of the day. The value of bitcoin can change ~$20 up or ~$20 down at most, considering the price is stable. You just have to be on the perfect time.
Besides, you also wouldn't know if the price is at it's lowest or at it's peak. Point is, if you see that the price goes down, take the opportunity and risk it. Then wait for the high times to come and trade. That's how you work it off.

The life of BTC is until EC encryption is cracked which I expect in 20 years or so, unless we can manage to upgrade the wallets to a new encrpytion algorithm and get all users to move their funds to the new wallets prior to the crack. That would be the real show stopper. In terms of market value decreases, the biggest risks would be government bans and especially competing cryptos such as Ethereum. We need to be aware that bitcoin is actually a digital currency, and unfortunately every technological stuff based on online resources tend to be replaced sooner or later by new and more advantageous technologies. I don't think bitcoin stays alive in 15 or 20 years.

Bitcoin's open-source nature allows it to be upgraded/updated throughout the years to make it future proof. It just depends on the devs if they are ready to implement certain must-have changes. Right now we are waiting for the block size to be upped from the current low 1MB cap.

I bet we're going to take years to make simple changes like 1mb block upgrade. Even more consensus breaking updates are going to be harder to pass trough. Every upgrade to the code is reviewed by several experts. At least that's what I think, I can't confirm any of this. Given the difficulty to change the code, I'd bet that bitcoin will live at least until the code pays for its execution(mining rewards), if not longer.

I've always thought that physical Bitcoins were an interesting concept, but I don't think they're really worth having. That's just my opinion, but it seems like it is simply better to put Bitcoins in some sort of numerical storage device, with a digital output, rather than a number placed on a coin.

Bitcoins are alife now for a long time i dont undrstand how long they are already in here but what i see is that the bitcoin only rises in the last vview years i think finally people getting interested.

I think you better explain why you think bitcoin can't survive more than couple of years as this sound really unreasonable. Bitcoin is growing and its userbase is increasing day by day because many new people are understanding the real value of storing their fiat in bitcoin as well as bitcoin's good features as payment system. Bitcoin is self sustaining tech so i think bitcoin can survive as long as there will be good community support and continuous developer supports.

I agree that bitcoin will remain forever, because it is  a code and can be preserved.  And on economic aspect and people acceptance, since bitcoin is created like a currency but in decentralized concept, it is here to stay forever as long as  people believe in it and development is updated.  It is even created to last a century of mining before the rewards run out and use tx fees  instead.

Yes I guess it so, bitcoin will remain and never be vanished as long people needs it and use it for daily purposes, and answering to that question bitcoin will never up again like before it reach $1000 its because in every increase of price many people sell and sell their coins and because so instead the price will rise it remains in an stable price for over a month. Bitcoin will exist for a very long time cause the cap is going up more and more people are using it nowadays than before which shows growth.
The thing controlling bitcoin prices is the people using it and investors. It depends on the amount pumped in and out.

It still has to offer alot which it couldn't yet due to problems but in some years we will see it's potential and a new era will begin.

Bitcoin will be alive as long as the people are behind is (people including investors) the one thing that makes something valuable is the supply demand ratio.
We need alot of demand for bitcoin and we have to keep that demand so that the value will be always constant.
