Title: Buying Bitcoin
Post by: MJamesB on February 22, 2016, 07:29:20 AM
Just tried to register on coin base site but they do do allow the buying and selling of bit coin in Armenia which is where i am based now. Can anyone recommend a site where bitcoin can be bought regardless of the country of residence?

You can buy BTC in Armenia at LocalBitcoins (https://localbitcoins.com/country/AM?ch=5crz), for starters.  It's a great service that's available in plenty of different countries.  My google searches don't seem to come up with many other reputable options for you.  Hope LB helps though!

It depends on the payment method you are going to use honestly , but there is Virwox.com which is a great options if you don't really care about the fees (they have some high fees) and they accept different payment methods : Paypal , Credit cards (MasterCard,Visa etc ..) , Skrill and others ..
Or you have the second option which I prefer is to use Currency exchange on bitcointalk (here) and trade people with the rates taht fits you and payment method that fits you (people may not want to trade with you if you are planning to use reversible payment methods like Paypal since you don't have any trust history and your rank is low) .

Localbitcoin is best if you want to buy coins from people in your local residence. AFAIK you can use bank or visa payment in there to buy bitcoin. You can also use paypal.
On the other hand we have here in the forum, the Currency Exchange (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0) section. You can buy bitcoins with members in here and if you are lucky maybe you can find someone who is from your local who is willing to trade in person.

May I suggest you that if you are going to trade with anyone who doesn't have an establised trust in the forum, please always use an escrow to secure the transaction. I don't want to see another scam attempt around. Goodluck!

Localbitcoins are the best regardless of the country. It has got all the payment methods. Easy to find a trader around your range, if possible you can even make the trade face to face.

One problem with localbitcoins is that the bid/offer spread is quite large, it is usually over 5%.

localbitcoins is good, but the price is usually higher 2%-10% than the markets, due to the 1% fee of seller's on localbitcoin is passed on to the purchaser

and I think lakebtc is better, you buy bitcoin with the market price via banker, here are the details https://www.lakebtc.com/s/otc

If it is one off buy, you can use the localbitcoin. But if you want to buy several times and a lot of coins, you can use exchanges.

Unfortunately due to regulations, there will always be some restrictions base on your location (I sort of have the same feeling since were neighbors - I'm in Iran). Since you haven't provided what type of payments you could use, I can't give you an accurate one but the following websites might work:
https://paxful.com/
https://www.247exchange.com
https://mycelium.com/lt/help.html
https://unichange.me
https://shapeshift.io/

You can also try the Currency exchange section of this forum but this place is filled with scammers. It's best to use LocalBitcoin. I have never had a problem trading there.

It is better not to use the currency exchange section. As you said, it is full of scammers there. Too dangerous.

I would always suggest localbitcoins,

They support many methods, a good escrow and a good trust system. everything is quick and easy. I will never choose anywhere else anymore.

The only problem with the local bitcoin is that if you want to buy bitcoins there, you have to pay more than 5%.

right!

the prices at most places are usually HIGHER 5%-20% than the markets, such as localbitcoins or any other exchangers. BUT, you can buy the Bitcoin with a market price at my Bitcoin retail store (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1374218.0)

actually localbitcoins is neither good nor reliable.
it differs from country to country when you want to buy locally but overall there is a lot of scams going on in localbitcoins so I suggest anybody to be very cautious when using their service, cause there are some people with fake feedback even.

If you really want to buy or exchange your money to bitcoin i found a site that you can choose the best trusted exchanger site that you can exchange your money via bank into your bitcoin wallet address.. I'm not promoting it but i use some of trading and exchanging sites from perfect money..
Here's the link https://perfectmoney.is/business-partners.html

You should choose high trust score to be sure the site is legit.. But i think they are all legit...
I hope it helps...

Its good to some Bitcoin now. If you can see now the price is not very high and that is very good to buy.
But you can also see that the value is now rising slowly and that is not good for invest. But that is good to sell it.

...

OP and anyone else

I have a similar problem buying BTC and I am in the USA!  Localbitcoins does not work very well for me in my city (2,000,000 + population in the metro area), but that may be just starting to change...

We recently also had a BTC ATM go in.  It works, but they want a 9% (very high) premium to "spot", but localbitcoin-ers, when I could find someone, wanted at least 5% over and I had to go and deal with them (setting up a meeting, etc.).  One time the Seller and I could not agree (he wanted 12% over), so that was a long drive and a waste of time.

But, for Armenia, yes, it looks like localbitcoins is likely your only choice.  Good luck!  Let us know your results.  :)

localbitcoins may be a good way, but you can find bitcoiner from your country or area and purchase some bitcoin from them through wire transfer, or find someone here that exchange bitcoin to another payment processor, make sure using escrow for each of transaction, due to many scamers here
good luck

you should ask around in the forums that are related to money and/or bitcoin to try and find somebody who is near you and can meat up in order to do the transaction face to face and with cash.

that is what i would do whenever i want to buy or sell bitcoin and get cash in return. it is the safest way as long as it is done in a public place.

Coinbase is a good source for buying bitcoin. But unfortunately it doesn't support all the countries. The other option I can suggest you to try Localbitcoin.com . it is also a good bitcoin buy/sell source..

Localbitcoins.com is quite convenient. But the buy/sell spread is quite big. It is usually larger than 5%.
