I have one question. If i have a wallet on my PC, and i receive bitcoins there that i do not want to be traced, can my IP address be shown somewhere if someone would like to see it? Or do those wallet softwares use automatically Tor network. If not, how can i hide my real ip using downloadable wallet? Thanks in advance. It just needs to be enabled in the network preferences.

You can even receive bitcoins with your computer shut off. The bitcoins are received in the publicly shared blockchain that every full bitcoin node stores a shared copy of.
If someone thinks your IP has a particular address, and they want to check to see if they are correct, there is a known attack that can reveal if an IP has an address (even if you've never sent or received any bitcoins at that address) as long as you have Bitcoin-QT running and you are not running over TOR. You also associate an address (and the bitcoins being sent) with the IP where the transaction is transmitted when you create a transaction, so if hiding this activity is important to you'll certainly want to run over TOR. As far as I know TOR isn't built in to the Bitcoin-QT client, but it is compatible with TOR and can be configured to use your TOR circuit if you have TOR running. |
