Title: wallet.dat - Can we introduce a BIP to rename to what we like? Post by: icanscript on February 25, 2016, 10:39:05 AM There is so many trojan/rat/virus and malicious software about that I assume just search your computer for wallet.dat, it would be nice if we could call it what we like... like Monero has done.

Changing the name won't protect it, it is cake for malware to identify it regardless of the name. Encrypt it with a good pass phrase. And I don't think this is a BIP because the wallet.dat is specific to the core client, other clients name it differently already. I was just thinking it may be a nice improvement. I use an offline machine anyway so I feel pretty safe. but was thinking for others.
