Title: I just lost my lease, retiring 70+ GPUs
Post by: 1l1l11ll1l on January 21, 2013, 04:05:12 AM
So the company I worked for is moving, the lease expired, so my mining rigs have to be out by the 25th. So sad!

I'm thinking it's just time to retire the systems rather than run new power and cooling at the new location.

Does the community have any tips for retiring 70+ GPUs? Should I re purpose (to what end), sell individually, in bulk, target practice...?

I'd love to hear your suggestions

Assuming Avalon really shipped...I'd say your resell value just fell big time

You could slowly sell them on eBay to avoid flooding the market.  GPUs still have value to gamers even if they're not of much use for mining anymore.  You could also try selling the motherboards/other components, although you probably won't get much.

It really depends what type of GPU they are.  I'd also check the marketplace/goods/computer hardware forum to see if you could get a better deal selling them here. (w/o eBay's insane fees)

keep them and mine other alt coins with them or find somewhere to hold them and then re start up mining with them. If you are at brake even point then maybe sell half keep half and mine and buy new Acsic's come out buy a bunch of them.

if you're trying to sell on this forum, sure

5830's still sell for $70+shipping on eBay, that's about $5-$10 less than 6 months ago

What models do you sell at what price?

You could mine TRC- you wouldn't really even need to change any settings. You don't need to keep all the GPU's either to do that. The Diff is low for now, you could plow through some TRC to hold as things are looking up for TRC.

70 GPU's is twice what I have at my warehouse, and I'm using about a quarter of the power available to me.

Just pay for shipping and electricity (.05c per KWh) and I can have them mine bitcoin, litecoin, whatever you're interested in.

Send me a PM and we'll work out the details.

This might be a good group buy opportunity. Would you be interested in selling to a group of us?

You could receive payment immediately, all at once, and I (or anyone really) could coordinate with the buyers (payment, shipping arrangements, etc.)

Just slowly sell em on eBay. They'll sell. Just don't be the dearest on there. :)

What country you in?

Sorry for the delay, was busy disassembling units.

I'm in the USA and have already sold the 5870's and 5970's, I have 25 7970's all reference design, most have original boxes. The lowest I see on ebay is $330. Offers?

The problem would be the Tariff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tariff). I'm in the EU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union).

I'm not so sure. If you are talking about VAT, then this is a non issue.
