Hi all!

We are in a need of catchy logo for Trezor: Bitcoin Hardware Wallet - see http://trezor.bitcoin.cz/ (http://trezor.bitcoin.cz/) for more info (atm redirects to its thread on this forum).

Rules:

• submissions must be posted to this thread before Friday 25th January 20:00 UTC
• submissions must contain graphical logo and the text "trezor" or "Trezor" or "TREZOR" (text can be part of the graphical logo)
• submissions must be monochromatic (i.e. containing only black and white color)
• submissions must contain a link to either a SVG vector file (preferred) or a high resolution bitmap (at least 1000x1000 pixels)
• we reserve the right not to pick any submission
• we reserve the right to edit the chosen submission to fit our needs
• by participating in the contest you agree that you waive all your rights related to the logo and that we can use it for our product

Some additional info:
The brand logo should associate security, reliability, something safe, not easy to break, strongness, power. It can also associate treasure, things of high value. It should feel strong, safe and reliable, heavy and secure. It should differentiate from other bitcoin related brand names.

Is it specifically 'trezor' i.e all lower case ? Answered.

Also, have you thought what you want to call it in other writing systems ?
I am thinking specifically of Chinese/ Japanese.

For instance, 'treasure' in Simplified Chinese is:

宝

Bǎo

I am not a Chinese speaker so I am sure much nicer transliterations are possible (i.e. using two glyphs to give a "treasure-ey ness").
Personally I think Chinese/ Japanese look better in icons than our rather boring Roman characters.

even by participating, not only one you will choose and actually pay for? sounds weird to me :)

It avoids the : "You have incorporated an idea from MY icon and I still have the rights to it." Say if they want to tweak the winning icon to use, oh I don't know, a particularly nice font rendering.

What's the aspect ratio of the hardware screen? Is it useful to have a logo that fits well into it?

I notice all the submissions are using just black and white.
By monochromatic do you also mean that people can use greyscale too ?

If so, knowing the number of levels of grey on the Trezor screen would be useful.

(There's a white border around the inverted one, it's just impossible to see with a white background  ;))

Good question. The display is 128x64 pixels, so ratio is 2:1

It's a key

Due to the small size of the screen I tought a 8bit style logo would be nice.
It is a 8-bit bitcoin all made from little squares in a a vector file  :P

There's no need to fit the logo for the display. Logo will be used on many other places (website, offline materials, on Trezor casings) and logo on the display may be somewhat simplified (for example just "O" with key hole if some similar concept will be chosen).

It represents the Block Chain, get it ?  ;D

Its a custom font actually, the original one was thinner so I bloated it to match the symbol, also the 'O' is just really two circles with a slight indent ;)

oh, i just noticed that your submission does not qualify. you have to ship either hi-res bitmap (1024px+) or a vector file :-)
