You protect your coins from theft by having your own private keys (avoid online wallets), having a good passwords on coins on online computers and having a chunk of your coins offline.

Offline as stored on a computer/device that is not connected to the internet. That is the safest way of storing Bitcoin and effective if you want to hold them for a longer period of time. This article  (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage)provides more information.

offline storage such as a cold wallet is ideal, or a hardwear wallet such a trezor  :D

you can easily prevent from being stolen by activating or increasing your security level, just enable 2 factor authentication, enable the message and e-mail notification i can sure the hacker will can't get into the wallet as long they dont own either your 2fa or your phone
This is probably the most conclusive answer here, basically put so many layers of protection on your wallet that it would be a huge pain to actually get through all of them.

2-factor authentication is probably one of the most valuable tools you can have to protect your investment, and I would recommend using it whenever and wherever you can, as long as you have a phone.

nothing can protect you from CIA. except Hardware Wallets. I suggest Trezor.

Please don't post nonsense. CIA can't hack into your systems if you know what you're doing. How on Earth would they even know which IP to look for? Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous and actually very safe if you have a safe habit of maintaining your system and safe browsing habit.

2-factor authentication is probably one of the most valuable tools you can have to protect your investment, and I would recommend using it whenever and wherever you can, as long as you have a phone.
Multi-signature is also very safe.

Hardware wallets aren't needed. It's perfectly fine if you simply use a very strong passphrase for your wallet files. And for even more security you can even encrypt the wallet file for even more protection. Store that file on a USB stick or something else that isn't connected with internet and you'll be fine. And the best of all, this is a free method. :)

i think it's safe enought.
as long as i use blockchain, strong password and a google auuthelator are enough. but if you want more you can try offline wallet  :P

if you don't have thousands of dollars in bitcoin using blockchain wallet with an strong password plus using the 2 factor adds and extra layer of security and i think it is enough for protecting you.

for more just google how to make paper wallet and there are pretty good articled for doing it.

send all your coins to a cold storage that has only one address and do not add any other address or do not forget to do another backup every 50 or so address because the keypool can handle 100 max but it's better to do a backup before this

many newbie do not know about this it should be explained well for them, besides this, use a secure system to use your funds on the cold storage

if you're paranoid, build a machine dedicated only for that

Though I like the idea of blockchain.info it does sound buggy and I'm a little scared to trust it. I've had problems with authenticators in the past too. I don't have a lot of coins so Mycelium works fine for me. If I did I'd go for paper.

just follow every security advice of your wallet, use the most unpredictable and most secure password, and dont put all your bitcoin on one account, spread it on many account, its safe i think,so far i never lost my bitcoins.

Well i believe an hacker can get the passwords and cross the line but with 2fa authenticator i believe its impossible to make any transaction without it,as to login you need them,i have my coins at blockchain online wallet with 2 passwords and 2fa active soo they are safe.

Yes, with 2 way authentication it is almost impossible to compromise the account and we can safely say that account is Safe.
So if we use online wallet with 2 factors authentication, we don't require hardware wallets (for security reasons).

yes paper backup if you keep it safe is enough to restore your wallet just in case.
i am also using blockhcain.info as an online (web) wallet for a very long time with strong password and 2FA and never had any problems (i also never use TOR) so i consider myself relatively safe. but i never keep large amounts on there because it is "online" afterall and i will feel safer if i have my wallet cut from the internet that is why i use offline Electrum on linux

Use a safe PC (Linux or Mac) install Multibit or Electrum (I strongly suggest electrum) when it gives you the 13 words seed phrase save it in some other places , add a strong password, make sure to remember it as if you lose it there's no way to recover it in Electrum, even the developers of it can't help you. If you are still paranoiac then, buy  Ledger Nano HW1 hardware wallet ,cheapest, or Trezor a bit more expensive and you are safe.

Trezor can really protect your bitcoin with ease and you dont have to think always will my bitcoin be hacked by other online as it is an offline storage.

Trezor is a great hardware wallet but it is too expensive. especially for regular users who don't want to spend >$100 for a wallet and keep medium amount of bitcoin there.
i think it is good only if you have a large amount of bitcoin for example for bigger than 100BTC you should think about getting one.

You didn't need that much of protection. As long you dont download malware , spyware or such (viruses). It's safe.

I think it's safe enough man, you use google authenticator that is good though. My advice is don't download something unsuspicious, and always check the virus before download.

Always Use two way authentication if you are using Web wallet. And you are safe.
In the Hard wallet, you can use Core or Electrum.
Paper wallet is most secure if you dont lose the Pass phrase.

I am agreed with it that no any crazy hacker will be able to steal precious information until or unless gets hold of phone number or 2fa. Besides keeping yourself offline when not using bitcoin is also a good way to become safe from such incidents. I would suggest these ways only and would appreciate if some one would guide more ways for enhanced security.
