Interesting convergence: Nate Silver threw up a Twitter poll asking what Trump's chance of winning the general election. The aggregate crowdsource answer was 34% - which is durned close to the implied odds at PredictWise [86% to win the nom, 26% to win Predicency as individual]

Dr. Ben Carson: GOP Elites and Pundits Have Offered Me Cash, Political Support to Quit Race








    Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson told supporters Saturday that he has heard plenty of calls to drop out of the Republican presidential primary.

    Some “special interests” have even made personal appeals to him, he said.

    “I’ve got unanswered calls on my phone right now, ‘Oh, if you did this or did this, and did this, or if you drop out and support this guy, we’ll give you all this money and we’ll make sure you’re a senator here,’” Carson said. “What a bunch of crap. This is about saving our nation. This is not about horse-trading and making deals.”

    Carson told a reporter afterward that he wasn’t going to say who called him, but said his reaction is those people can “go jump in a lake.”

    The one-time Iowa frontrunner vowed to fight on days before the Texas primary, where polls show him in a battle with Ohio Gov. John Kasich for a distant fourth place in a field of five contenders. And in his speech at the Northeast Tarrant County Tea Party event, Carson continued to zig as his Republican rivals zag.

And over in the Dem part of the zoo, Hillary Clinton's unfavourables hit a record high of 55% unfavourable:

So... the two all-but-shoo-ins for each nom both have unusually high unfavourables. Go figure...

So does this mean the Trump has basically won the nomination?  Is there any chance of Cruz winning it now?

Not much...but Ted Cruz's contract has come back from the dead. Donald Trump's implied odds have sunk to 80%.

Well, not that the one in charge would not rule in favour of businesses instead of the opinion of the small people. Money rules theses votes so money will rule.

I guess not always. Weren't there this socialist country, was it bolivia?, where a president won who surely has nothing to do with money. Pure idealist. People loved and love him and voted for him. All the money others used did not matter.

So I guess it can work differently. Though of course those with money don't like it and that president and his country will have a hard time.

Things can work differently. But not in a capitalist country.

Capitalism means power = money which means the candidate with enough money will win. Always.
