Title: Please require mod approval (not just VIP) for Important Announcements
Post by: eldentyrell on January 24, 2013, 01:46:22 AM
On his own forum, cablepair is claiming (https://www.btcfpga.com/forum/index.php?topic=1048.0) that he did not write this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137285.0) to important announcements.  The posting is largely content-free anyways and not really important.

Combined with the whole cryptic-and-utterly-useless-to-99%-of-people-who-read-the-forum "disclosure" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=135643.0), the usefulness of Important Announcements is declining rapidly.

I've more or less stopped reading most of this forum due to (a) the painful web-only UI (b) the broken RSS and (c) the trolling.  Important Announcements is the last part of the forum I follow regularly.  I'd rather not lose that too.

I'm willing to bet that there is never less than one mod logged on at any point in time, so requiring mod approval to post to IA should not really delay things which are truly important.

I tend to agree. Allowing VIPs to post there was a good experiment, but it failed miserably.
