Title: https://gatecoin.com new exchange
Post by: gravitate on March 03, 2016, 06:14:22 PM
Does anyone know this exchange? Is it new? I want to buy some rep.. But if I buy it will have to keep it there right?
Currently I have 1 btc in there. Probably not a good idea to risk more right?

Or there are wallets?

they been asking me to add them to my bitcoin exchanges review list, but I never trust it, so I want to wait for a period to observe them

gatecoin.com has been officially released in January last year. Our team is international, as you can see there https://gatecoin.com/team (https://gatecoin.com/team).

Regarding REP, you can only buy/sell REP on gatecoin, and we will allow REP transfers as soon as Augur is released. The beta version is about to be available, so the final version should be released in the coming months.

OK well that answered my question. so I will have to trust you guys to hold the REP then.

How did you get the rep to sell if its not tradeable then? Did you bulk buy at the ICO or something?

We pooled the REPs of some of our customers who had bought important amount of REPs during the Augur crowdsale, as it is mentioned here https://gatecoin.com/blog/2015/10/gatecoin-launches-rep-trading/

Hope this helps!

Exchange was hacked but it seems REP should be ok, only ETH and BTC hot wallets were affected...

damn well All I had was DAO..

Leaving 1 Bitcoin in an exchange is not the smartest thing to do, especially after many other exchanges have been victims of so called hacks which in reality are inside jobs and the people behind these hacks walking away without any problem. Exchange cannot co-operate with other exchangers to freeze coins as the guy who steal the coins, makes a nice mixing before he goes to other exchanges selling them and he is not stupid to sell them at once. Anyway bitcoin is only safe in your desktop or hardware wallet. Sorry for your loss.

i should have seen this kind of news in my local group earlier, because this exchange is located in Hong Kong.

by the way, do not deposit any dollar before they resolve anything to prevent another free money for that hacker.
