Bitcoin payments around the world are failing as the platform is overwhelmed

Bitcoin payments are failing around the world as the digital currency platform that supports it struggles to cope with a surge in demand, according to Re/code.

even when i disagree with the headline everyone must admit that, gavin and co were right when they started the discussion about blocksize 2 years ago.
with 2 MB blocks we wouldnt have this press and "stuck" transactions. we would have time to build out layer 2 without stress.

To be honest is there any point in only moving to 2 mb when we will end up hearing the same old bitchfest in a couple of years time about moving to 3 mb.

That's the whole desaster why only increasing the blocksize again and again will not work.
But many people don't want to realize this it seems. They are like sheep following the ones who shouts loudest to increase Blocksize NOW!
To scale properly, safe and without losing decentralization in terms of being able to run nodes from your home, without losing censorship resistance and monetary sovereignty, other layers on top of Bitcoin are desperately needed and inevitable.

i get your point but even with 4 MB blocks there is no problem

the important part is that, by that time we should have layer 2 options.

Another alarmist headline about this bullshit.

There's a miner fee market. Use it. My transactions go through just fine, because I use a wallet that suggests the proper fee, and if I'm in doubt - I CHECK AND SEE IF IT IS CORRECT.

But I guess that's asking too much of people, to actually use the network properly. Expanding the size will only repeat this exercise at a later date.
