Title: First signs of spring: Robins; Flowers.
Post by: Gleb Gamow on March 09, 2016, 01:02:23 AM
I saw my first two robins this year, the earliest I've ever seen them (March 14 being the earliest to date for me). Also, I found a flower on the side of the house, the entire plant no more than two inches tall. I plan on takin' a pic tomorrow. I'm not yet versed as to its species.

It sure was, bud. I spent two minutes away from BitcoinTalk to go outside and enjoy it. Luckily, I didn't miss anything when I returned.

Goodbye sweet blankets. I've waited for this too long.

Winter was pretty lame this year which is fine with me.  I think it got up to 80 degrees Monday in Lincoln.  Not bad for early March.

Many more robins in the yard today, along with blackbirds now. Even more blue jays, and saw one oriole. My timid rabbit is AWOL, and I have a dead squirrel by a tree close to the road. Not sure if it was the mange or a hit by a car that killed him, but the flies are having a fest.

Tulips are sprouting, soon will be the neighbor's (two; each side) asparagus I get to harvest.

You know what I notice besides Robins are the hummingbirds but this year they stuck around all winter.
But the dang things are buzzing me any time I go out the back of the house to change their feeder.
One of these days they will not know when to stop and I will be walking around with a hummingbird stuck in the side of my face.

This time last year there was snow still covering 0ver 80% of the lawn when the first robins arrived. This year, the lawn is almost ready for its first cut, with the pussy willow and lilacs ready to blossom a month early.

Just goes to show that we're in the beginning of a new ice age which the media has been throwing down our throats since the 70s is most likely a myth (with apologies to Spock): In Search Of... The Coming Ice Age (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_861us8D9M)

You ever researched El Niņo ?

For me here it seems about typical i guess..
Canada tends to have a lag on the Winter going away.
We pretty much get 6 months of winter then 6 months of Summer.
Extreme to extreme :(

It's the dance of Earth's "Procession" LOL

I brought this up with someone while back and it didn't even occur to the women
that the wobble of the Earth affects us.. at all.

I think there is a Global Warming but i also think a lot of the info has been bullshit.
The key UN report that was posted in the 80's was a mockery of Science.
Anyone who did not say it was DOOM in the report had their findings removed and fired.
The guy who submitted the report admitted this on camera too when one of the other major guys confronted him.
It was a planned report of Doom so anyone who did not toe the line was booted.
EVEN if their scientific findings contradicted the "report"

I believe Global warming is real but i think the actual facts are tough to get at.
For one thing we have not kept a lot of records for all that long then we have a lot of the science community
that can be simply wrong or biased etc or.. even a part of a conspiracy !

But we CAN tell there is a massive devastating loss of Polar Ice Shelves missing.
Sea levels are in fact rising.. all we have left to do now i think is argue about what is causing it. LOL
If you all go research the "shelves" ? It's really sad and disturbing and shocking !
I can't see how anyone can say there is not a major change underway.

@Gleb Gamow
I don't know my birds as well as you do but i was watching the birds by my Bus stop yesterday.
A couple of them that looked like Crows with patches of a nice brilliant blue color with white belly's were roamin' around.
And last few weeks i have been seeing Squirrels.. BUT !
I look around i still see a LOT of snow on our mountains that surround our town.. Canada LOL
I also do not recall seeing any flowers but i usually just keep my eye out for "Chinese" Poppy's ahhahaa

Okay, here's what's happening as explained to me by a Flat-Earther. The ice breaking off is making the oceans rise just like when you put an ice cube in a glass of water. When the cube melts, the water level goes down, as seen from any satellite in space. Hmmm! I think he nailed it till he mentioned satellite.  ::)

Not sure if you were joking or not, but that is exactly what is happening.  The Antarctic is just one huge pile of ice sitting on top of land.  As it breaks off and slides into the water, the ocean level rises.

The Arctic, on the other hand, is just ice floating in the water.  When it melts, it does not raise the ocean level.  All it does is kill the polar bears who drown when they can't find ice to rest on.   :(

Ahaaaa! I tricked you to say that it's all them dead polar bears raising the sea level because they don't melt.

Let's talk about nice things, not the global worming. I mean that is a huge problem and something has to be done very soon but let's just think how spring is so beautiful time of the year when the whole nature is rising, the sun isn't so shy anymore, flowers and birds everywhere, the lovely spring scent in the air...

It is definitely a nice sight to see, however here in New York, we are expecting up to 1 foot of snow the day after spring. So i don't know about you but I'm not out of the clear yet.  :-\
