Title: How to pool mine Terracoin on OSX
Post by: crazy_rabbit on January 27, 2013, 02:53:29 PM
User pletoss was able to package Kiv's poclbm guiminer into a bundled standalone Mac OS X Binary (app) using py2app and some 'funky voodoo patching action'.

This means you can now mine Terracoin (and Bitcoin) on OSX using guiminer.

The Download is on github here:
https://github.com/downloads/pletoss/poclbm/guiminer-poclbm-macosx.dmg (https://github.com/downloads/pletoss/poclbm/guiminer-poclbm-macosx.dmg)

When you open the DMG, be sure to drag the app out of the DMG as it needs to be writable in order to run.

OSX isn't as efficient as mining as Linux or Windows machines in general due to a number of factors: namely Apples poor openCL support and the fact that most Mac machines are not designed to be able to handle the thermal demands that mining puts on a system.

Needless to say I did get it working and it works well, although I tested it on a Hackintosh and a very low-end card.

I found this all in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=8994.140 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=8994.140) which has some other mining options that will work with Terracoin as well.
