Some company is building a smart contract system based on the bitcoin and potential other coins. So Ethereum is not unique.

No. I'm a big Ethereum fanboy, but stuff like this is ridiculous.

I don't think Ethereum can overtake Bitcoin but this is wake up call to avoid overconfidence about an alleged hegemony of bitcoin forever. It seems clear that always will be possibilities of new crypto currencies with the enough potential to overtake our loved btc.  ;D

I agree that if the Bitcoin devs totally drop the ball here and prevent the network from scaling, they will squander their first mover and network advantages and open the door for Ethereum as a replacement. I think they will eventually get things sorted out though and come up with a reasonable road map for scaling the network.

No, Ethereum is just another distraction just like NxT dark coins Ripple and so many other shitcoins. I wouldn't get too excited if I were you. Good time to short ETH imo

Unlikely, but it's definitely having a great future ahead. If Bitcoin doesn't fix the scaling problem real soon, more people will pour their BTC into ETH.

Did you hear about segwit? Ok I help you. Scalability debate is already over. The fork will be implemented in april.
Well it's not a "PERFECT SOLUTION" but a very good one.

And No, Ethereum will not overtake Bitcoin.

I was under the impression that it wasn't a currency.

Ehtereum is not intended as a currency for the daily purchasing. It is a "fuel" to make smart contracts.

ETH is mostly hype and less application.
if it could keep this trade volume up for as long as bitcoin then it should be considered
"overtaking"

The poll didn't include options that I would have preferred, like:

"FUUUUUUUUCK NO...are you fucking kidding me?"

or

"LOLLLL!!1!!!eleven!!!!!AHHHHLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!"

Bitcoin whales and community supporters won't allow that to happen for sure. Possibly another cryptocurrency will overtake Ethereum.

It is very possible for another coin to overtake the Ethereum. It depends on the originality of that specific coin.
