Hi guys,

After reading a lot here, it seems we are related in some way or other (besides our love for btcs :))

I mean, for what I read, it seems we all share the same profile in some degree. I don't want to classify anybody, but I thought it was kind of funny how we all share some of the same interests.  

Bitcoin User Profile:

• Nerd
• Smart
• Geek
• 90% Men
• 70% age range 20-40 years
• Speak English (first or second language)
• Think more anarchical
• Like to be anonymous
• Not religious
• Like conspiracy theories
• Use more Android devices

Added:

• Knows Linux
• Comfortable with taking unusually large risks
• Open to patiently listening/reading about unpopular ideas
• Doesn't listen to much if anything from main stream medias. (TV)
• Ron Paul supporter or appreciates what he says about America

Pretty darn accurate, I am 90% male myself.

I honestly think this is stereotyping too much. A lot of these don't fit me in particular.

Really subjective. I don't strongly identify with any of those words, but I can see how they can be applied. Other Bitcoin users, not so much. If we were all smart, Pirate@40 wouldn't have happened.

I'll concede that most Bitcoiners are male.

I'm not personally, and many other Bitcoiners aren't (e.g. Phinnaeus Gage), but the 70% is probably reasonable.

Most do, but not all.

These are really overgeneralizing. For example, I am indifferent to anonymity (I feel that anonymity can be dangerous in the wrong hands), despise conspiracy theories, and do not use Android. That's 3/5 that I don't fit myself, so the community as a whole will probably fit it even less.

I hate conspiracy theories.. and I don't know why you'd cast that aspersion on the Bitcoin community... unless you have some agenda to paint us all as nutballs so you can sideline us in economic debates.
What bank do you work for and just why are you 'profiling' us anyway!?

My girlfriend is not on these forums, but she's an active Bitcoin user... perhaps these results have a bias as the polling is done on a forum, correlating more with the profile of internet-forum users than with Bitcoin users. As a whole, I would imagine few tech forums have women on them, even if the technology itself is super popular and widely used. Say, like a forum for Windows-users. Lot's of women use Windows OS, but not very many will join a forum about it hahaha.

Then again, perhaps I just have a bias because she's my girlfriend...  :D

I don't think its fair to overgeneralize conspiracy theories as being "crazy" or "not smart". Some of them turn out to be true! As mentioned in the link above, the Watergate scandal was such a case.

Theorizing about a conspiracy is not crazy in itself. Obviously some people take these theories to the extreme, or base their theories are inappropriate pieces of evidence, and this is where you need to break out the tin-foil hats.

Some one pointed out before, the biggest common character for bitcoiners are greedy  ;D ;D Of course that is in general are human nature, but bitcoiners have a little bit more

You forgot to add they have a predilection to creating scams!

The age group for highest likelihood of Bitcoin adoption is off by 7-10 years I would suggest 13-33 or even 10-30 with a peak around 20. A teenager is way more likely to adopt Bitcoin than someone in their late 30's. In fact teens and tweens are a huge market for Bitcoin because they cannot get a Credit Card and are huge consumers of online content and services.

On a related note I would expect those in their late 50's, 60's and early 70's (Baby Boomers) to be a lot more receptive to Bitcoin than those in their 40's or even late 30's. Let us not forget that someone who turned 20 in 1969 (summer of love, Woodstock) will turn 64 in 2013. The baby boomer generation shook the establishment to its very core in their day, their children one the other hand are notoriously conservative and status quo by contrast. Let us not forget that teenagers always rebel against their parents, not their grandparents. The grandparents more often than not see the teenage rebellion as payback to the parents.
