Title: New maker-taker fees at Poloniex
Post by: countryfree on March 10, 2016, 11:38:47 PM
I believe Poloniex is the largest marketplace for altcoins, so a topic about the new fees structure seems appropriate here.

To those who haven't noticed, the flat, standard, 0.2% fee will go, replaced by a maker-taker system.

I kinda like the idea of a lower fee for the person who creates an order. This will entice more people to make orders, and that's good. I also like the idea of diminishing fees for the people who trade more, but what I don't like is that the lower fees require a monthly volume of trades over 600 BTC!
Who's doing that? Making 20 BTC worth of trades every single day of the month! That is huge.

Last couple years with exchanges it just seems to be more and more needlessly complicated.
I can't be bothered to learn all that crap either.. there is really no legit coins to trade.
Surprised some of you are still even doing that.. it's so 2013  :D

Since the reliability of moving coins from exchange to exchange vanished long ago..
i quit trading / arb'ing.
This was / is an epidemic !
The system is 100% broken when the users lost confidence in moving coins from A to B.
I don't trust them anymore.
Never mind all the hacks Stories that come up.. a billion $ worth !

What would be better news is a guarantee of your coins showing up some how LOL
It's bad enough the time can take forever compared to when i started trading ALT's.

You guys have Tunnel Vision on ALL aspects of the Altcoin Scene.. blind to "Context" or the big picture.
What does it matter if the fee's are removed but your coins never show up ? cough cough Cryptsy LOL

PS:
A legend account user should know by now this Topic is CLEARLY the wrong forum section for this.
See ya in Service discussion OP ;)

No, I don't think so. The Services discussion is for services in BTC, whereas Poloniex is for trading altcoins only. It's not an exchange, you can't even buy BTC via Poloniex.

This is great news for filthy bot users.

Bot users? On Poloniex? Do you have more info about it. I'm surprised to learn Poloniex allows this, even though I understand it is possible.

Poloniex has a page for the API documentation, and another for API keys, so there are trading bots on Poloniex.
A well known bot that can trade on the Poloniex platform is the CAT bot.

Hmm, thanks for info. I'm still relatively new to the altcoins scene. My interest dates from the failure of Bitcoin core to fix the block size/scalability issue, so it's recent.

Yes, API access. I hadn't noticed it.

hopefully poloniex may not raise the fee for trade!, at least not equate with bittrex.com the fee is 0.25% for buys or sells altcoin, so do not make new people hesitate to trading in poloniex.
