Bitcoin now has a new silver to its gold...a shame for Litecoin.

Will this put a nail in LTC's coffin?  With ETH going over 1 billion this is a great day for all alt's.  No need for people to argue about ETH's "value" just the fact that it accomplished this feat is great.

This announcement probably has a little to do with the recent price spike.

Who wouldn't want 40% of btc's trading volume.  Poloniex has to be making a killing recently.

No doubt. This should also dampen some of the Fudsters who are always on about Eth only trading on scam exchanges, not that Polo or Kraken are scam exchanges, but this news is still a big credibility boost for Ethereum.

I hate to ask this but with poloniex having most of the volume, can we be certain no such "Willy" bot is playing out similar to Gox?  I'm not knocking ETH, just makes one wonder about third party exchanges and exactly what the BitShares project is trying to fix.  Do not turn my question into a ETH or BTS subject, simply asking about a third party exchange and the potential for another "willy" bot.

remember that litecoin was priced up to 0.05, so until then ethereum is stillf ar away to be the second best of all time
but the 1B marketcap is impressive, i don't remember litecoin reaching that amount ever, it has to do with the money circulation

Eth over 1 billion??   i though it haves very slow transactions  ???  or maybe it just me ..  Cryptsy folded over due to poor alt coin market after it lost btc due to a hacker??  what makes Poloniex any different .. ??

It is also obvious the only thing you all care about is profit.. period .

It could be anything or called anything or have any icon or any gimmick and it would all be the same.

If anything this just reinforces how pathetic the whole entire Altcoin scene is.

Today is very significant in the history of Ethereum. Now the price is so high, it needs some correction before the next leg up.

ETH and Litecoin literally have nothing to do with one another.

I'm more concerned about DASH valuation, than ETH, with respect LTC. I hope some of the forthcoming features put it back on the same playing field. I'm even more concerned that it's taking me a bit to get over not listening to myself 6 Months ago and take my sizable ETH stash out of the exchange and sit on it. No butthurt here, I have been following ETH from its inception and thought it was an extremely interesting project. Just frustrated at myself for not saying to myself "um you've been following this shit for years, maybe this time you're actually right."

In closing, the only real winner here is my nephew. How does a 2 year old make $5000 in two months? Uncle Natty hits him up with some birthday ETH!

Polo was hacked last year, but Polo regained its rep by refunding all the stolen bitcoins out of their own pockets.

Yes. Its rather big news. I think litecoin was at one point over $1B also. So ETH would be second. Wonder how long it will stay there, and if it goes even more. ETH still seating, as of writing this, at > 1 billion dollar market cap.

I said just a week ago it would breach the 1 billion cap and I was laughed at. Obviously im just a newbie, what the hell would I know. ETH will breach $50 by mid April.  The Patton is never wrong about an asset. Its not a coin its an asset.

etheoreum is just a useless scam crap someone with deep pocket pumping it, think about it, for around 15k of btc it could go to $0. i personally think eth is control and own by a few whales which they don't want to sell their large chunk instead manipulating for higher price. i wouldn't touch it and it's un-adoptable useless crap.

I suspect ether devs are pumping their own coin, the constant pumps just dont feel natural.

We're early in a new altcoin bull market. I saw that when the usual pumps started lasting a lot longer than the "Chinese pumps" of legend.

If it's of any help, market lore says there are three stages to the "classic" bull market:

• Stage 1: Recovery from the bear-market lows. Begins with gloom, cynicism and apathy. Proceeds in the face of widespread skepticism and skittishness. Results in the assets being snapped out of gloom-ridden undervaluation and back to reasonably optimistic valuations. Tops out when the apathy/gloom/skepticism turns into new hope. The peak looks like a bubble, which in retrospect is a "false bubble."
• Stage 2: Rises with better fundamentals or outlook. Begins with hesitation, skepticism and worry that the false bubble was a real bubble. Proceeds with better and better news. Results in the assets being pushed from reasonably optimistic valuations to unambiguously optimistic valuations as revised by the good-news flow. Tops out when the optimism seems overdone and worries about overvaluation kick in. The peak looks like a needed corrective to the optimism.

It's my opinion - take it as you will - that the current bull market is still in Stage 1. To be honest, I'm skittish myself! Only half a week ago, I would have sworn that we were at the end of Stage 1 and about to get knocked down to pre-stage-2.

The fact that they are still creating fud and employing bots, its one factor to see its not still working. ETH will stay indeed but not going to replace btc.
Microsoft is losing the operating system battle, losing the tablet battle and now they are getting into losing a coin battle. everything they're into just goes to a mess.

Microsoft's tablet is quite popular. I am thinking of buying one.
