Title: Would you pay with Bitcoin for Minecraft Hosting?
Post by: adaryian on March 13, 2016, 05:42:49 AM
Remaining Pre-Orders to get Server: $88.35

Initial Pricing Structure: (May change)
-----

1GB - $6.95/mo with dedicated IP included
2GB - $8.95/mo with dedicated IP included
3GB - $11.95/mo with dedicated IP included
4GB - $13.95/mo with dedicated IP included
5GB - $16.95/mo with dedicated IP included
6GB - $18.95/mo with dedicated IP included
8GB - $23.95/mo with dedicated IP included
10GB - $28.95/mo with dedicated IP included
12GB - $33.95/mo with dedicated IP included

Add $3.95 a month for a discounted Silver Hosting, web hosting plan.  Enough space and resources for your Minecraft community website & forums!

---

Okay, so I have a way to keep Minecraft hosting down to a minimal cost.  However, I don't want to foot the money out on a hunch or a possibility when I have no idea what the market is like for this around here.  (Obviously, I'd accept PayPal as well.)

I can offer, (still up in the air) between $6.95 to $7.95 per GB per month for initial investors. Then regular prices would be more like $8.95/$9.95/mo per GB for anyone who comes along after.

There is some start up costs with this.  I'd have to upgrade a server of mine which requires a few replacement parts that could support 64 to 72GB of memory which is currently sitting around right now, in good condition we've just had to pull the memory from it for a different server and there was no immediate plans for this server right now.  It would only take about $200 to meet me half way on the memory costs, so I'd be 50% invested and any initial investors would obviously receive a life-time discount on the services for the first people help us reach that $200 goal to get this server up and running.

I'm really trying to expand my hosting company in a lot of ways.  We went from dedicated servers only, to now web hosting and we're now looking to get into possibly hosting Minecraft servers.

It's an idea.  I'd like to get some responses on it and if we get about.. 25 people that would want a 1GB server, or 13 people who want a 2GB server or 8 people who want 3GB servers, or 6 people who would do 4GB servers, we could get this thing up and running in a few days or less.

It's just a thought.  I'm still working on getting a Bitcoin gateway implemented on our check out system.  So for now it'd have to be done through PayPal, which in all actuality is probably the best/safest for both you and myself until my trust level is built up on here.

Look, I'm not out to scam someone out of $200.  I'm just looking to expand my business, add services and more options for Bitcoin usage to the community.

P.S., the "Scam!" option is just for fun and also for the people who will ultimately consider this a scam, which, I honestly hope doesn't happen.  I've been very honest, upfront and very active on the forum to hopefully show that I'm not about to run off with $200!

Vote, vote, vote and I hope there is enough interest in this, because I'd love to get this going, especially with EXTREMELY reasonable prices!  (Possibly even lowered after a few months of running to recoup some expenses!)

Really, someone putting scam?  I hope you're joking. :P  It's to be funny.  I hope you don't really honestly think this is a scam being that the initial investors to get the server up and running would have to pay through PayPal, which there's security to get your money back if I don't follow through. :)

I hate to burst your bubble, but shockbyte hosting is much cheaper.  I personally use it,  and while I'm not a affiliate for them,  it works perfectly at a much lower cost. (Hell,  my mcprohost server went offline and crashed more then this one does.)
Anyways,  Yes.  I would be interested in buying minecraft server hosting for bitcoin,  but not at these rates.

Ah, okay!  I'll look around for more providers.  I might be able to compete with them.  I'll get back to you.

Good luck mate,  I think you have a good chance, but I also think you'll need to either
A. Find a way to convince people your services are better then the rest, which wont be easy as most people see mcprohost as the best,  and it costs about the same amount...Or
B. Find a way to get your prices down,  possibly combine that with A.  :P

Alright, so if I had enough investors to help share my cost to get the memory needed for the server of $200 in pre-orders.  I could then do this for pricing:

1GB - $6.95/mo with dedicated IP included
2GB - $8.95/mo with dedicated IP included
3GB - $11.95/mo with dedicated IP included
4GB - $13.95/mo with dedicated IP included
5GB - $16.95/mo with dedicated IP included
6GB - $18.95/mo with dedicated IP included
8GB - $23.95/mo with dedicated IP included
10GB - $28.95/mo with dedicated IP included
12GB - $33.95/mo with dedicated IP included

How are those prices?  It's not making barely any money at all, enough to make it worth running and give me some profit, so it's worth running to me, granted I have enough pre-orders to order the memory, again.. through PayPal so you know you can get your money back if I do not follow through.

What do you think?

Additional edit:

I'd discount web hosting on top of this, so you could have a website/forums for your server if that would be of any interest.  So if you got a Minecraft server, I could also provide web hosting for it at a discounted rate on the Basic Plan for an additional $2/mo.

I think the 12 gb plan is actually a pretty good deal.  Pm me if you ever get it down to that price, and ill consider buying it.

Another thing to consider is that we're offering static IP addresses with ours, where as in the case of competing with ShockByte, they charge $5 for static IP addresses on top of their plans.  So really, we're cheaper.  Not by much, but we are.

When you say 1GB, 2GB, etc., is that disk space? Memory? Bandwidth?

Would the server come with the Minecraft server installed and ready to go (maybe after some config) or would we have to do that on our own? I used to enjoy running a server for some buddies and I'd love to get back into it, so I might be willing to try this.

From what I've seen, Minecraft servers are measured in RAM, but other specs can be important.

Are you offering the standard Multicraft and all that gibberish along with the order?

Yes, Multicraft support is offered with every account included in that price, along with MySQL access, FL access and custom Server.jar files of your choice.

Those are memory prices for the prices.  I used to hosted Minecraft servers in my past, so I have really old license which allow infinite servers per dedicated and I can do 11 total dedicated servers with unlimited Minecraft servers.  Which is why the price got bumped down so tremendously from my first post.

I'm sorry we don't fit your budget.  It's literally as low as we could go to even make a profit worth our efforts to maintain the dedicated server that would host everyone multiplied by the amount of dedicated servers we will run for this, if it were to become a larger hosting provider.

I think that makes it a 'yes' for me then. I'd likely try it out for a few months and continue if it goes well. :)

Awesome.  I'm glad to hear that.

Again, the server is not needed currently, this is something I'd like to possibly restart again but I'd need $200 worth of pre-orders via PayPal (So we're all protected).  If I can get $200 in pre-orders, I'll spend the other $225 needed to get enough memory for the server that it's currently missing.

There server is a:
---
Dual Xeon E5-1630v3
72GB 128GB DDR3 ECC Memory
RAID 1+0 (x4)500GB SSD
Dual 1Gbps Load Balanced NIC

Includes:
Multicraft
Dedicated IP Address for port 25565
FTP Access
MySQL Access
Custom Server.jar Files

Discounted Additionals:
$3.95 a month for a discounted Silver Hosting, web hosting plan. (Includes DNS Zone settings to allow you to have mc.myserver.com)

----

I think that covers it, unless I'm forgetting something.  If you're interested, PM me with what server you'd want so once I get enough people who are interested I can message each of you and give you invoices which will clearly state, that I will have the server up and running within.. 5 days, tops.. (depending on how quickly I can get the memory in) or you can have a full refund and back out if you wish.

So, that kind of covers it.  Hope to see some PM's pop in here and once it's setup, no we won't just accept PayPal, we're really close to allowing Bitcoin as well as PayPal for our merchant gateways.

Thanks everyone for their feedback and questions!

I'm about to add the plans to our billing system, so once I get enough interest it will be ready to go to accept pre-order payments.

Be sure to PM me or, sign up on our website and put in a support ticket stating how many GB you'd need for your server so we can keep track of everyone.

Remaining Pre-Orders to get Server is: $88.35

That's only a few more pre-orders and we'll get this setup and launched!

6 more 1GB plans OR
3 more 2GB plans OR

We're super close everyone.

Anyone who is interested, https://customserver.space/cart.php?gid=8

Let's get the server up and running ASAP! If we reach this goal, the DC has the memory I need for this server and I'll spend the extra to buy from them so I can get the dedi up and running without having to wait on ordering the memory.

Literally one more sign up of a 4GB memory server will get us going!  Everyone who has bought through us, help get our name out!  Thinking about a server?  Give us a chance, let us show you how great we can be at becoming a great Minecraft service provider.

We're really pushing to get our Minecraft Hosting up and running.  We have very competitive prices and most importantly have QUALITY hosting.

We were trying to compete against another company, but after further investigation into what they, "have" which was a contradiction to multiple chat conversations they've had with us and other people as well they can't beat our rates with our hardware.

You pay for what you get.

Just a few more sign ups to show we have at least ~35% interest and we'll cover the rest of the fees for the hardware needed to launch it and keep it running.  I'm sure we'll get great feedback once we get this up and running for those who have pre-ordered.

Thanks again for all the people who have pre-ordered and we'll get these up and going ASAP!

We got enough pre-orders, that we had ordered the memory for it today from our data center.  They do in-fact have it in stock. (slightly higher than I was quoted..) never the less, we will have a Minecraft server up with Multicraft on it either today or tomorrow at the latest. It's provisioning the OS up and there are packages that need to be installed along with security as well.

I think you'll all have very happy results from using us as a host.  All of the equipment is new, very fast and all server grade level.

Will be removing the "Pre-Order" text next to our ordering system since the server will be up very soon.  Just don't expect instant setups for the next few days until every module is setup!

Thanks for all the pre-orders guys and gals.  Next item on the list, is Bitcoin payment gateway!  I know I've brought this up in the past and things kinda got sideways on me, but I wanted to offer more services, especially to the Bitcoin community.

Looking for more people!  We will initially have a public server that, will probably be wiped pretty often depending on grief levels and such, but will have no real permissions and will be plain Vanilla to let you get a basic test.  All will be updated very soon!

Thanks again!

Our Minecraft server hosting is officially 100% up and available.

I have reached out to the Minecraft community to find someone who would be interested in running our public server for anyone who wants to just play and also test the server out.

Our next step is accepting Bitcoin payments, which will be coming soon.  Looking forward to serving your needs for hosting and will post the link to our public server as soon as possible, once they have setup their server and get it ready.

Thanks!

Great idea. Make sure to update us on when you begin accepting Bitcoin. My daughter has been bugging me for her own server and it just so happens I've been paying her an allowance in BTC  :D This just helped connect the dots a little more.

I finally found time to try and set this up today but I think it's showing me the wrong IP. When I try to connect to the IP listed in my server.properties, it shows me a random motd that I did not set and it's still on Spigot 1.9, even though I updated to 1.9.2 (and the console says that it's 1.9.2). How do I find my real IP?

Edit: Nevermind, just had to set the right port. Didn't realize it wasn't the default.
