Title: Ether emission curve?
Post by: adhitthana on March 14, 2016, 07:00:17 AM
Does anyone have a link to how it works?
I googled it, searched for it a few times was told to go to ethstats, but can't seem to find how it works. Can anyone help?

Not even Vitalik himself can help you because no one fucking knows.

It is currently proof of work with like 20 million new Ether being created every year.... and the 'good news' is that in 100 years ( ;D :D ::) ) that will be a small % of inflation.

Of course Vitalik could decide to turn the whole damn thing to proof-of-stake tomorrow, and then the only thing that matters is how much Ethereum you bought/mined already.

I mean, mathematical elegance speaks for itself, and I think that is exactly what we are seeing here.  Mathematical ele

Dozens of times. The democratic process is so important, I make sure to vote in as many precincts as I can.

should go to POS end of this year. Some saying november. But apparently will become very difficult to mine any at all after sept/oct

actually it's already pretty hard to mine it. but will get far more difficult.

I think it is a mistake to cut POW so early. It should become more distributed anyway. It should move to pos+pow not just POS.

Yes, I think PoW should end slowly over time with decreasing block reward instead of a sudden stop which will shock GPU mineable altcoins because all that massive hash behind Eth will have to go somewhere which means a bunch of coins will get stomped.

I just hope PoW can continue for a few more years, so the miners can have some more coins and the distribution is better.

In this topic: a crypto that supposedly is heralding an age of decentralized computing can't even be properly valued or speculated on by others because no one knows when the *centrally controled* switch will be pulled that will completely and radically change the maximum number of coins and mining method.

And yet people are frothing at the mouth to own some.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
