Title: Connection Issues with GUIMiner and Deepbit.net
Post by: Bukowskaii on January 30, 2013, 08:31:30 AM
Hey guys, I'm new here so I can't actually post on the GUIMiner thread, but hopefully the right people see this!

So I am running GUIMiner v2012-12-03 on 2 x 6950s, OpenCL miners. I am using the flags -v 1 -w128 -f 10 on both cards. Card 1 is using Cores 0, 1, 2 and Card 2 is using 3, 4, 5. My Email and password match my miner settings on deepbit, namely in the form <email>_<minertag>.

I have been running this same set up since at least august with no issues, but I just recently was able to start mining again, so I updated GUIMiner and let it rip, only to find that after about 5 minutes of mining both cards began to recieve "Connection Errors" It can usually check about 25-100 hashes before getting these errors

I have tried recreating the miners on deepbit, I made a new account on deepbit. I've cleared all of my Local data for GUIMiner and re "installed" it as well, nothing seems to resolve this. Short of moving to a different pool, I don't know what to do. Is there anything more specific to the application that I can try in order to fix this?

Remade the miners in software and on deepbit again, still no luck...

Have you tried pointing it at a different pool? I'm suspecting a firewall issue maybe more specifically a port issue.

I'm trying to prevent switching pools, but that will be the net thing I try tonight when I get home. Its been working for the past six months though, hard to think that it suddenly has an issue even though nothing changed on my machine.

Well, it's a mtter of isolating the issue. If the same setup mines just peachy at another pool then you look at your deepbit config or deepbit itself. If it fails to mine elsewhere then you look at your network. It doesn't mean you have to switch for good but just as a means of eliminating possibilities.

I've set up and been mining with slush for the past hour or so with no issues. Seems to be a deepbit problem. But I've set up according to their specifications, so I don't know what the problem is... Any tips?

You know what? I'm just gonna stay with slush... I seem to be making more with the lower fees.

A good idea. No point in joining a pool with higher fees!
