Title: Ethminer, how to be sure you are solo hashing properly ?
Post by: Myffas on March 16, 2016, 12:40:41 AM
Hi,

I am solo mining for a few days now without mining a block. I am most probably simply unlucky, but it made me wonder how could I check if I am hashing fine?

Ethminer cmd window is displaying same text as you could find on google image.
Hashing rate is what I expect from my GPUs.
Geth is in sync with current block (www.etherchain.org)
Everything seems normal.

Now, what if something is wrong with my DAG file or anything else is wrong, how could I know? You guys found a way to check all this?

Thanks

I was also very unlucky with solomining (found 4 instead of 8 blocks) and Geth randomly stopped syncing twice without any errors or even disconnecting the miners and once it stopped with an error.
All that with plenty of nodes and stable internet so I gave up solomining.

first of all this can be normal because the diff is very high, and btw what is your hash? you can do an estimate based on your hash on how much tiem you need for a block

I have to restart my geth every few hours.

I was hashing at 64 MH and I was expecting a block every 3.5-4 days (difficulty of last week).
Now I'm hashing at 108 MH and I’m expecting a block on about every 2 days (at current difficulty).

I don't like the idea of having to restart geth. And the possibility of not knowing something is wrong will probably make me also turn back to pool mining.

The Geth.exe has been out for more than 9 months, but the developer has not solved the problem.
