Title: My first bitcoins
Post by: bitpaulm on March 17, 2016, 01:08:48 PM
Hello forum.

I just recieved my first 50 bitcoins from my son-in-wall who works in New York. I don't know what to buy yet. I like gambling. My son-in-wall tells me that I can also escape the police using bitcoins.

I suggest buying a dictionary. You can never go wrong with a good dictionary. I recommend the Oxford English Dictionary, Second Edition. Though neither it nor bitcoins will help you escape the police.

If you have an specific need to escape the police, try hiring a lawyer instead of discussing the matter on a public forum that the police can read.

Before you do anything else...! Make a copy of your wallet and save it to a USB stick. Then take that to the bank and put it in your safe deposit box. If you lose that wallet and have no back-up then your bitcoins are hopelessly lost forever.

Waw, that it is a very nice gift.
I should keep them for the long future and see what happens the next years with the price.

This is so nice. If only that there is someone who can also send me such numbers of bitcoin I maybe rich at this time. Is there a reason why your son had to suggest to escape police. This is actually a big money you can buy anything that you want but of course that this is beyond your money control..

If you have an specific need to escape the police
Isn't that obvious? Locking your son in a wall in New York sounds illegal.
This must be troll right? It can't be true!

50 entire bitcoin? That's a lot, you could wait the price raise or gamble or invest in a safe cloud mining site

Unless you are willing to do some jail time I would strongly suggest not buying anything illegal until you have completed your degree in cryptography. TOR can be used to access the "darknet" however most who try are not actually hiding their identity as they think. As far as going on the lamb... That is orders of magnitude harder to do. You will burn through your 50BTC in less than a day trying. Your fake credentials will cost more than double that and you may need to keep buying more of them for years. I think you would need more like 500BTC to start disappearing.

It's a obvious troll and a waste of our times.   If someone worked in wall street they would be familiar with many rules, and following them.

If you were running from police... 50 BTC is not going to get you to far I would not think.  Not to mention trading the BTC for fiat or spending it I think would link to where you are.

So troll or not it's a horrible reason to own BTC.

What you said is correct, and i think that OP have started the account and to just post anything he started this thread and posted some thing nonsense which is not related to anything. Just to post in the new account he started this thread.

If you are going to buy stuff from the tor browser it mostly will be a scam and if it arrives u ordered illegal things like drugs or weapons.
Don't use it if u don't know about it. Please don't gamble ur money, u will loose.

Well first of all congrats.

There are so many things and so many ways to use bitcoins even for business, gambling or trading. Bitcoin is anonymous currency so no need of  own identity.

Well I already commented but Again I think on statement you mentioned that your son told you can escape from police. Well but ask him how he got this bitcoins. BCZ people think bitcoin is anonymous but anyone use any particular address can be tressed and can be found how transaction tree is built. Even you can also check how transaction is flowed. Or Just Put your bitcoin address here. I can see it for you.

I think your English is poor, after reading for so many times now i have come to a conclusion of what you want to say, I mean that your son-in law knows about your gambling habit and so if you do that with fiat currency you will get caught in police for that he gave you bitcoins and now he is telling to play gambling through Bitcoins so their wont be any law problem.

Just think and do your work with bitcoins because gambling wont be so much problem but if you buy some thing illegal through bitcoins payment then you will be in problem even if you use bitcoin.

Guys that evident troll or lucky person with 50 btcs and pretty poor english.
If you are really going to use Tor webstie, please do it. But its waste, at least half of bitcointalk.org would manage this money much better.
Gambling? It is good way to lose money unless you are a big fan of some sports or just have luck (how long, 1 day,2 ?)

Save your bitcoin, or convert it into cash and put it into your bank account. DO NOT GAMBLE. YOU WILL LOSE, FEEL SAD, GAMBLE SOME MORE, THEN WONDER WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH YOUR LIFE.

Oh no, I got the point to "escape the police" I think your son is referring to deep web, if you are trying to buy something thru it then it's up to you, it is very dangerous to have a transaction there.

USBs fail surprisingly easily. Just buy a trezor and get this stuff over and done with. Sell some bitcoin to protect you from this fluctuating prize.

I suggest holding them for now. After the coin split, there is a chance that the value will rise, and you should try to sell them at their peek. However, nobody knows for sure what will happen to the value.

First, 50 bitcoins are really big amount of bitcoins. You can check the price on bitstamp for each bitcoin, you can sell them and turn it into fiat, or you can invest on bitcoin and earn more bitcoins.
