Title: How to tell the batch number of the miner?
Post by: wmabern on March 18, 2016, 06:08:13 AM
I have two Bitminer S7's bought a few weeks apart. I think the second one is a batch 10. But not sure.

How can I figure out the batch number of the miners either through the web or by physical inspection of the machine?

Thanks!! :)

Check the S/N sticker. I can't check my S7 atm but iirc there was a small sticker saying the version of the miner and possibly what batch in really small print.

generally the best you can get is a batch range. the earlier batchs had different hash rates where as anything from 8+ is all 4.73.
on top of the miner it will show the hash rate. match that to the chart below.

the gui shows every asic

the older 1-7 have 162 asics

the newer 8-13 have 145 asics

below is a batch 1  note the asics are show in 0

Batch 1 S7's w/ 162 chips and 4.86 have V1.X listed on them.  Batch 5 and later 162-chip units have V2.0 on them. I didn't have any units in between these so I can't comment on them.

Thank you for the replies.
Both of my S7's came with 45 chips per and average 4,724.03 GH. It came set as 700Mghz.

I will get out my flashlight and see if I can find any kind of sticker.
Thanks All!

I checked out the stickers. Both of the S7's say:

Submodel- S7_4.73

The other sticker says version 1.34.

There is other info on the stickers such as serial #'s, etc., but nothing about batch.

There is also a green sticker on the circuit board that says: QC Passed 10.

Just wanted to know the batch number for if/when I try to sell them.

Anyway, thanks for the assistance!

it is a batch 8-13.

not much difference in them. I would think it is  an 8-12 since the 13 has yet to ship.

As a buyer with decent knowledge if it is 8 to 12 or 8 to 13 I would consider it to be enough info .

when they are batch 1 to 7 I really want to know if they are a batch 2 or a batch 3

I would not want a batch 1.  but the 2 and 3 batches I worked with were all monster good machine
my batch 2 gave me .235 watts a gh at freq 575 and using a titanium psu.

my experience differs...b1 very stable at 600, ~4.78Th/s, b2 can do only 575 at 4.66 th, nothing more. b5 and b7 are great. b4 and b6-nothing special, but stable.

Yeah it is funny that way on the older batches my batch 2 can clock to 5125 gh with 0.0001 % errors

My batch 1 was 4600 on a good day with errors at 0.3000

My one Batch 1 hashes pretty well at 4.9T and 0.03% HW.

The other one hasn't put out too many shares since December:

were you able to tell the source of the fire?

Came from within.  Boards shorted...  Not PSU related, as there were 2 other S7's on the same DPS-4K PSU setup, and they were still mining away before and after this.

Wow are you serious these really can catch on fire. Anyone else S7 catch on fire?
