Title: PSU for 3x6950's Rig, please help Post by: AndyRossy on June 09, 2011, 03:35:05 PM Cant quite figure out how strong PSU I need to order to complete my rig
I currently have a E5200 CPU, 1 stick DDR2 ram, 1x7200rpm HD, +3x6950's unlocked to 6970s. Some websites site they drain 300w each per card, others 200w. What size CPU can I go for, there seems to be a huge price jumps 1kw+. I wouldn't recommend pushing more than 80% of your PSU capability. A 1000kw supply should work, but you are going to be pushing it hard. This will effect its lifespan. So it really come down to how much you want to gamble. Is it more important for you to keep the initial investment as low as possible or to have something more reliable?
