To the person who stole my 21.69634058 bitcoins. It took me 2 years to save $14,000 to invest into Bitcoins that you took from me in 2 seconds. I invest in Bitcoin because I have complete faith in Bitcoin's success. I'm struggling to figure out how to get those Bitcoins back and it will take me much a lot longer to save up the same amount.

My address was: 1VDs4Wuvjk8qDjHvWJhkMBSSWHjVbVMJP and now the bitcoins are with someone who owns 1Bitcoinvt9e6SDDnSzsrhmqc2hZ3GBqUt
https://blockchain.info/address/1VDs4Wuvjk8qDjHvWJhkMBSSWHjVbVMJP

Please I beg you to return me my Bitcoins. I'm totally lost! You can keep 1 or 2 Bitcoins for yourself if you think you need them more then I do. But please return the rest back to me to my new wallet:
1HPLtpULtPykCkrnwo4zcEN8yE2Pi8fm6C

I really hope this message reaches to the person.

God bless you
Sim

edit: Here is a signed messaged to prove I did have those bitcoins.

This is to prove that I own the bitcoins I mentioned in the forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1406200.40. Today's date is 21-05-2016

The possibility of this reaching the person is slim to now, try sending a few satoshis to the address and attach a note linking them to this thread

@Your Point Is Invalid - Thank you. I didn't know I could send notes. I will try to do that, I will just have to buy some bitcoins.

@whywefight - Yea I know I am a bit late to notice. But I didn't open my wallet until last week and after my wallet finished syncing I noticed the missing bitcoins.
"can you sign a message from the address where the coins came from" ... I'm sorry but I don't know what that means. I slowly bought the bitcoins overtime from an exchange but here is what that transaction description shows in my wallet.

@vodaljepa - you are right. But I just really hope I can get the person's attention and hopefully he will return them back. If he doesn't then I will just assume that he needed them more than I do.

@Lutpin - I promise I'm not a troll or whatever they do. I'm just trying to get the person's attention. You guys have been nice enough to help me out here with your posts. Thank you.

@The Pharmacist - I don't know how else to explain myself anymore. I've showed you guys my bitcoin transaction history and you can see I did own those bitcoins and now there are somewhere else. I can even send you my wallet and you can check. I have 1 more year until I have to pay for med school. And back then when I was looking at investment options Bitcoin sounded like a better option then opening up a fixed deposit account with my bank. Honestly I'm not scamming anyone, that's something I would never do.

@fuathan - How do I announce a bounty ?

Im sorry , but if this story is true, I think you should know you made a terrible mistake to use bitcoin as a method to store value. You should have used a bank and kept your fiat safe. I hope this story convinces others not to do the same thing, with your valuables, regardless of the coin you use, this was a huge gamble, and should only have be done it with disposable income.

LOL. So, it took you two years to acquire these coins, but you have no idea how to sign a  message? Read this thread "How to sign a message?! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0)".
You are being called a troll because your coins were stolen months ago, but you came here crying months after your coins were stolen. It sounds like you are trolling TBH.

@krunox123 - OK, seriously what do I get out of being a "troll" ? Whatever troll means. Do I get my coins back by being a troll ? I guess not. So the only reason I'm posting here is to see if you can help me somehow and if someone else is in the same situation as me. I do not open my bitcoin wallet everyday. I had the coins in the the exchange I bought it from I left it there for a while and only transferred them to my local bitcoin wallet in December last year and I didn't open my wallet up until last week. I'm really not sure why is this so hard to believe.

"it took you two years to acquire these coins, but you have no idea how to sign a  message?" <--- I'm probably not as clever as you. I just bought them from the exchange.

So sorry to know your coins have been stolen. I think you should mitigate the risk of this happening in future. It is obvious that you only look at your coins once in a blue moon so offline cold storage is recommended - maybe you can consider using offline wallets such as paper wallets or Trezor?

Lots of gloating captain hindsight's come out of the woodwork who would cry themselves to sleep for weeks if they had 0.00001 BTC stolen from them. I do believe you and I feel your pain but the reality is the thief wont return the coins to you unless he is suddenly endowed with a great deal of regret and compassion. I'm very sorry this happened to you and I for one understand we don't all open our BTC wallets every hour of every day to stare at some numbers.
Its a terrible thing that's happened and all I can say is time will heal.
Personally, I always try to turn a disadvantage in to an advantage. This may seem impossible but think about it. How could you turn this around? Maybe you could take a look around and investigate some promising ALT coins and look at trading and winning on a few of them. It may surprise you that 21btc might not be so difficult to recover if you choose wisely. Imagine you had 1000 ETH a few months ago. There is a way, it will mean some research and planning but the benefits you could gain from this very bad experience could be turned around and hold you in good stead for years to come. Thats just one idea, perhaps you can think of something else. Turn this disadvantage experience in to something positive. It can be done.

Even though I believe this is a BS thread to elicit some form of pity donation and the OP is scamming,
for the sake of curiosity and thoroughness,

1. What wallet did you use after transferring from your coinjoin account?
2. Where did you download said wallet?
3. Is it the phone/online/or desktop version of said wallet?

the fee of the tx is very small. for me it would make more sense if the fee is high enough to get the tx soon enough included into a block if it was a theft.

furthermore I would not use such an easy to remember Bitcoin address like this 1Bitcoin... address.

I am sorry for your loss, but it seems like you were missing something when you thought it was a good idea to keep all that Bitcoin in a single wallet, or, at least, something that wasn't offline.

I believe it that you all that time to save up the $14,000, but I'm not sure if there is much you can do. People in this market tend to be assholes when it comes to money, and they'll most likely keep it because they think they've worked for it, or some other reason.

I hope that you'll eventually be able to get your coins back, and I wish you good luck.

I don't think that someone who stole your btcs will ever return it back. No one does that after stealing. the wallet now just have at least $ 8,838.57 on it. so track it down from there.
Next time, take certain precautions when storing your btc like 10 going to one wallet and the other half to another wallet.

next time you need to save your bitcoin in a secure wallet to protect your wallet from a thief.

Just try to send few satoshi's and let him know your problems in note as the other guy said. That might help, or let's hope.

That's really sad..21 BTC is huge amount and I can understand your feelings after loosing them.

Even I have lost around $1000 when Liberty Reserve closed down. I lost my savings in just a moment.

Maybe you can send few satoshis to that BTC address with a note attached to it. But it's very hard to get back stolen money. Wish you luck.

It was more than three months since your bitcoin has stolen, i doubt that it is truly stole by other people who have criminal mind and maybe you sent that huge amount of bitcoin to address of yourself deliberately or you sent while you want to sell it / pay something.
But for now you must be patient because that 21BTC will very hard to back again. And for experience that you must mix your bitcoin into few wallet if there's much balance on your wallet.

Here is a signed messaged. Hopefully this proves that I'm not scamming anyone.

@Timelord2067 - No, all those wallets belong to the exchange.

I emailed the exchange asking which address did the bitcoins they sent me came from and I got this reply.

"At this point in time, Our hot wallet system doesn't always guarantee a single bitcoin sending address. Looking at the transaction on blockchain.info, you can see the sending addresses used to make that bitcoin payment.

To the person who stole my 21.69634058 bitcoins, you have shattered my dream of having enough money to send my sister to medical school. It took me 2 years to save $14,000 to invest into Bitcoins that you took from me in 2 seconds. I invest in Bitcoin instead of putting it in my bank account is because I have complete faith in Bitcoin's success. I'm struggling to figure out how to get those Bitcoins back and it will take me much a lot longer to save up the same amount on a cleaner's salary.

I'm sorry to hear that.
next time you need to save your bitcoin in a secure wallet to protect your wallet from a thief.

I'm wondering, why do you share this after three months from the occurence? don't you think it's too late and the thief maybe forgot that he has stolen your bitcoins?

He learned it from watching the scumbags at cryptsy...

so how is that faith now?

I happened to find the private key to these coins, and Google led me to this thread.

I am unable to PM you, as the forum says you are not accepting PMs from Newbies.

Send me a message if you're still around, and we can work out a transfer to a new wallet.

Good on you if you really mean to do this. I see the original poster "cmr" hasn't logged in since late 2017. :( Not sure if they is any other way to reach out to them. I think your best bet would be to hold onto these coins and hope they log back in some day. Or reach out to theymos / someone from moderation team and see if they can contact "cmr" on the email address on file.

I am sure this would be a life changing moment for the OP if you are able to return the coins.

Anyway, I have sent "cmr" a message. Hopefully the message triggers an email alert.

This thread was quite a read -- an interesting cold case of a mystery here... My guess is someone had access to his DropBox and stole his coins using its contents.

There's some additional conversation from what appears to be the OP here, before this thread was started:

https://gitter.im/ethereum/ethereumj?at=56ed8172ce5b0c6e7a1c0c71

OP never confirmed if this address belongs to him or not:

1bdCxkNmBoa9yakqE6f5EJx6kSQdffDWR

Its an intermediary between his exchange output address and the hacker's address... doesn't sound like it was his.

The 1bd address has a lot of previous activity. For a long time it received weekly payouts from a pool associated with BTCGuild that went under in 2014.

Don't suppose you'd want to sign a message with the key to prove you actually have it...
